America’s Senator Publishes Scary-Long List of Obama’s Removal of America’s Immigration Enforcement System

Senator Jeff Sessions has a fine publishing operation in his office, demonstrated by his occasional fact sheets of well researched points regarding the failure of Washington to stem immigration anarchy.

A few examples include:

The New Dream Act Is Worse (2011)

Ten Questions for the Senate’s Gang of Eight Bill (2013)

Needed Measures for a Border Enforcement Bill (2015)

Now Senator Sessions has presented the mother of all lists, scary in its length, that enumerates the instances of President Obama dismantling America’s immigration enforcement system. It was posted on Breitbart on Feb 16:

Timeline: How the Obama Administration Bypassed Congress to Dismantle Immigration Enforcement

In September 2011, President Obama said, “We live in a democracy. You have to pass bills through the legislature, and then I can sign it.” Yet, since that time, and indeed before then, he has systematically voided existing laws and unilaterally created new measures that Congress has refused to adopt under either Democratic or Republican control.

Most recently, the President announced he would do what he once said only an “emperor” could do – grant unilateral amnesty, work permits, and access to government benefits to more than five million illegal immigrants. This unprecedented action, combined with new “enforcement priorities” for Department of Homeland Security personnel that exempt the vast majority of illegal immigrants from the threat of removal, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals directive, the “Morton” memos, and numerous other lesser-reported but far-reaching Executive actions, has threatened not only our constitutional system, but our national sovereignty. Indeed, the idea of national, sovereign borders is being daily eviscerated by the President’s determination to write his own immigration rules in defiance of Congress and the American people.

Below is a detailed timeline of how the Obama Administration systematically dismantled immigration enforcement, undermining the very rule of law upon which our nation was founded and upon which its greatness depends.

January 2009: Obama Administration Ends Worksite Enforcement Actions

In early 2009, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) executes a raid (initiated and planned under the Bush Administration) on an engine machine shop in Bellingham, Washington, detaining 28 illegal immigrants who were using fake Social Security numbers and identity documents. Shortly thereafter, pro-amnesty groups criticized the Administration for enforcing the law. An unnamed DHS official is quoted in the Washington Times as saying, “the Secretary is not happy about it and this is not her policy.” Instead of enforcing the law, the Secretary investigates the ICE agents for simply doing their duty. Esther Olavarria, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security, says on a call with employers and pro-amnesty groups that “we’re not doing raids or audits under this administration.”

January 29, 2009: Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano Delays E-Verify Deadline

Former Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano delays the original deadlines for federal contractors to use the E-Verify system, from January 15, 2009, and February 20, 2009, to May 21, 2009. Continue reading this article

House Committee Examines Immigration Enforcement (or Lack Thereof) under Obama

The House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on Tuesday morning which was viewable on the internet. Titled Examining the Adequacy and Enforcement of Our Nation’s Immigration Laws, the hearing had three stellar speakers with varying areas of expertise (Sheriff Paul Babeu of Pinal County Arizona, CIS scholar Jessica Vaughan and Law Professor Jan Ting of Temple University) and one Democrat choice, Mark Rosenblum, from the Migration Policy Institute. The links on the names go to their written statements to the committee.

There are pieces of the hearing available through Congressmen’s website, but the whole thing is not, at least yet. Sometimes whole hearings show up on C-SPAN days later.

So here are a few hearing clips, starting with the opening statement of Judiciary Chair Bob Goodlatte. He posted a text version of his opening statement, which was a preview of the dreary facts to come. The President has used his imperial pen and phone very effectively to destroy immigration enforcement in this country, endangering both the citizens’ jobs and safety.

Statement of House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte; Hearing on “Examining the Adequacy and Enforcement of Our Nation’s Immigration Laws” February 3, 2015

Chairman Goodlatte: When President Obama announced unilateral changes to our immigration laws with a wave of his “pen and cell phone” on November 20, 2014, he indicated that he would allow millions of unlawful and criminal aliens to evade immigration enforcement.  He did this with the issuance of new so-called “priorities” for the apprehension, detention, and removal of aliens.  Under the Obama Administration’s new enforcement priorities, broad categories of unlawful and criminal aliens will be immune from the law.  This means that these removable aliens will be able to remain in the U.S. without the consequence of deportation.  To make matters worse, even the most dangerous criminals and national security threats can cease being a “priority” for removal if there are undefined “compelling and exceptional factors.”

On the same date, President Obama effectively announced the end of Secure Communities.  Despite the fact that the President claims he took action to prioritize immigration enforcement against criminal aliens, he is scrapping a tool that identifies criminal aliens booked in jails across the United States so that federal law enforcement officials can prioritize their removal.  Secure Communities, created in 2008, is a simple and highly successful program to identify criminal aliens once arrested and jailed.  It protects Americans from those who are a danger to their communities.  (Continues)

I was pleased to hear a strong opening statement from Trey Gowdy, who at times has been rather squishy about illegal immigration. “A sovereign country should never apologize for having a secure border any more than this Congress or this capitol apologizes for having metal detectors at every single entrance,” he remarked — that’s what we want to hear from our elected representatives.

Congressman Lamar Smith was formerly the Judiciary Chair and knows the issue very well. A Jan. 30 press release emphasized protections for American workers.

Smith first questioned Sheriff Babeu and focused on the danger of releasing thousands of violent criminal aliens. The Sheriff specifically mentioned the Apolinar Altamirano case, where a previously arrested alien murdered a 21-year-old convenience store clerk, Grant Ronnebeck, in Mesa Arizona. The killer had kidnapped a woman and held her for a week, but the authorities allowed bond for a clearly dangerous foreigner and the result was a preventable death.

When Smith turned to Jessica Vaughan about the criminal recidivism, she responded, “What I’m told by ICE officials — and I’ve been told on a number of occasions — is that they believe, from their internal data, is there is a recidivism rate of about 50 percent of criminal aliens who are released by ICE.”

This is how much the administration cares about the safety of the American people.

Former Texas judge Louis Gohmert was particularly outraged about the idea of releasing criminals, 50 percent of whom will offend again, remarking, “As a judge when I was considering bail or bond that was a primary consideration, the likelihood of them returning and the public safety. I can’t imagine releasing somebody on a makeable bond if both sides agreed the defendant had a 50% chance of reoffending.”

Democrats Say Executive Amnesty Will Be ‘Generous’ and ‘Restore Rule of Law’

Neil Cavuto had an interesting mix on Emperor Obama’s upcoming amnesty, to be announced on Thursday.

First, he showed a jaw-drop clip of Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX) on Tuesday, spewing forth with typical liberal generosity with other peoples’ jobs, schools and future. As a black woman, she should be aware of the harm to persons of her race from illegal immigration. Instead, she is on board with the Democrat scheme to import more big-government voters from abroad because they cannot convince Americans.

LEE:  “This is not amnesty. This is prioritization. This is saving money. This is keeping families together. This is allowing children to not come home to places where the parents have been thrown from their places of work and taken away from them.  I’m excited about the courage of this president. I look forward to America finally understanding the gifts that you are given. Let us not be a selfish nation! Let us be a generous nation.”

Then Cavuto curiously introduced Congressman Jared Polis (D-CO, with a D- NumbersUSA grade for enforcement) as Matt Salmon (R-AZ, with an A- grade — a screw-up in booking to have two Democrats in a row on fair & balanced Fox?

Anyway, Polis’ chatter had the sound of Democrat talking points, and they weren’t very surprising, consisting of amnesty now, border security later — “Trust us!”

It’s good to have a king — for them.

POLIS: “It’s an exciting opportunity to focus on criminal aliens. We have limited enforcement resources if Congress were to give the President more. Resources, that would obviously be helpful. But in the meantime, the actual threat of criminal aliens rather than the — who knows — 8, 10 million people here, some of whom were brought here at a young age will help make America safer and restore the rule of law.”

“Restore the rule of law” by rewarding and forgiving the lawbreakers — that’s a thought only a Democrat could love.

Plus, it’s odd that the administration says it will begin to focus on criminal aliens now. In 2011, Obama said, “We’re focusing our limited resources and people on violent offenders and people convicted of crimes — not just families, not just folks who are just looking to scrape together an income. And as a result, we’ve increased the removal of criminals by 70 percent.” (Obama says deportation of criminals up 70 percent under his administration, Politifact, May 11, 2011)

Then in 2013, the administration released thousands of criminal aliens rather than deport them, including people charged with kidnapping, sexual assault, drug trafficking and homicide.

Obama and his bunch can’t even talk straight about immigration enforcement to protect public safety, much less actually do it.

Over the couple years, Obama’s amnesty chatter convinced Mexican cartels to refocus their business to do more smuggling, and the kiddie train influx happened as a result. Now another amnesty will be a 21st century gold rush, convincing the thugs of the third world to flock to stupid America to grab whatever they can get.

Detroit: Middle Eastern Jihadist Bomber Found Guilty of Immigration Fraud

The recent guilty verdict in the trial of a convicted terrorist bomber for immigration fraud is another reminder of how inept the feds are at barring the entrance of dangerous people into America. Numerous war criminals have been admitted to this country because of plain sloppy investigation of immigrants’ backgrounds by an unconcerned bureaucracy.

The case is hardly a confidence builder for the idea that the government could responsibly handle an amnesty for millions of lawbreaking foreigners that would still protect public safety.

In addition, the Obama administration has ordered eased immigration standards so that Syrians with limited terror ties could be admitted. The White House must think America has insufficient jihadist diversity.

Anyway, today’s criminal terrorist alien is Rasmieh Odeh (pictured), a Palestinian who was imprisoned in Israel for a bombing that killed two students in 1969. Israel released her from incarceration in a prisoner swap with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, not because she was thought to be rehabilitated. Odeh was convicted in Detroit for omitting her criminal terrorist record when she applied to enter the United States.

Despite the fact she was a known terrorist, Odeh got a job with the federal government that allowed her access to the personal information of Americans: Convicted Terrorist Bomber? No Problem Getting ObamaCare Navigator Job.

Greta van Susteren was outraged by the case and highlighted it on her Fox show in February:

Throughout the case, the pro-jihad Palestinians of Michigan showed up to protest her incarceration, making bogus excuses for her undeniable criminal act of not ticking the terrorist box on her application for immigration. The alleged victimhood of Odeh was played up in the news article by Niraj Warikoo:

Palestinian woman guilty of lying on citizenship papers, Detroit Free Press, November 10, 2014

A Detroit jury today found a Palestinian immigrant guilty of not disclosing that she had been convicted in a 1969 Israel bombing when she was applying for U.S. citizenship.

Rasmieh Odeh, 67, was accused by prosecutors of being a terrorist who killed Israelis in 1969 and then lied about it when trying to become a U.S. citizen. Odeh used to live in Michigan and is now in Chicago, where she works for the Arab American Action Network. She was not charged with any terrorism crime, but with immigration violations.

Odeh could face up to ten years in prison for her conviction and be stripped of her U.S. citizenship. After the verdict, Odeh said outside the courthouse: “We have to bring the justice together..I’m strong & I ask all of you to be strong…We are the strongest people, not the government…We are stronger.”

In a statement, her supporters called today’s verdict “a travesty of justice,” saying that Odeh did “not get a full and fair trial.”

The Rasmea Defense Committee claimed that “the immigration charge was nothing but a pretext to attack this icon of the Palestine liberation movement.”

They said Odeh’s attorneys will appeal the decision.

But a jury agreed today with federal prosecutors who said that Odeh checked “no” on immigration and citizenship forms she filled out in Detroit when asked whether she had ever been convicted of a crime. Odeh concedes that she was convicted in Israel, but maintains that she was forced to confess after being tortured. She also claims that she thought the questions on the forms referred only to convictions in the U.S.

The trial has drawn national attention, with up to 100 protesters rallying outside the courthouse every day last week and today. Rallies also have been held in Florida, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and Illinois. Odeh, associate director of the Arab American Action Network in Chicago, is being supported by a network of pro-Palestinian groups, which have launched online campaigns on Twitter and Facebook to bring attention to her cause. The group that she works for is part of the Dearborn-based National Network for Arab American Communities. Continue reading this article

Phoenix Greyhound Station: Illegal Aliens Keep Coming

Illegal aliens continue to be driven from Texas to Phoenix and Tucson because DHS in Texas is overwhelmed by the amnesty-inspired run on the border. When the invaders arrive at the bus station, they are sent along their way with tickets to their destination.

Since temporary housing seems to be a problem, can’t Sheriff Arpaio set up a few more tents? When the 2013 sequester drama played out in illegals being released from prison, he offered free jail space to house the foreign pests.

Some people say they are shocked at the border chaos (“urgent humanitarian crisis” according to MSM), but it’s only Obama using his executive power to welcome future Democrats.

Retired INS Senior Special Agent Mike Cutler suggests that the thousands of unaccompanied illegal alien kiddies be reunited with their US-residing families and then ship the whole bunch home — family reunification done correctly!

The estimated tab for American taxpayers to provide welfare for illegal alien children from Latin America keeps rising and is now up to $2.3 billion next year.

Meanwhile, illegal aliens are being sent a thousand miles from south Texas to Phoenix — a little payback from the administration to the state that wanted to enforce immigration laws?

Incidentally, opening the border to the world is likely to prove an irresistable magnet to jihadists and other enemies.

Naturally, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer fired off a sternly worded letter of complaint to the White House, but the squirrelly media loves to focus on the adorable kiddies and their parent-caused travails.

DHS continues to drop immigrants off at Phoenix bus station, Fox 10 News, June 3, 2014

PHOENIX (KSAZ) – One day after Arizona Governor Jan Brewer fired off a letter to President Obama, concerned about dozens of undocumented immigrants being dropped off at a Phoenix bus station, another bus load of immigrants arrived.

Early Tuesday morning FOX 10 saw a bus load of people dropped off by a bus with Department of Homeland Security markings.

The Greyhound spokesperson said that Arizona is the only state they’re aware of that is getting bus loads of people.

The Greyhound bus station near 24th St & Buckeye has turned into a refuge for bus loads of immigrants being dropped off by DHS.

FOX 10 was told immigration officials are moving hundreds of undocumented workers caught in Texas who are from Central America to Arizona. DHS says they don’t have the manpower to process them all.

Volunteers dropped off Powerade, diapers, and toys for the kids.

“I’m a mother with small children, I can’t imagine how exhausted, tired, and scared the women are. So I just wanted to be able to help them in any way possible,” said Ella Herrington.

A spokesperson for Greyhound said that up until a couple of days ago they were not given any notice that large groups of people were being dropped off. They say this had never happened before.

“We do not have an agreement of any kind with ICE or the U.S. Border Patrol. We recently established protocol with them which they now will inform us going forward several hours in advance before dropping off large groups of people to ensure we have the resources to accommodate them once they arrive,” said Lanesha Gipson. Government Releases 36,000 Illegal Alien Criminals

The Center for Immigration Studies recently published a study “ICE Document Details 36,000 Criminal Alien Releases in 2013” showing the Administration’s priorities regarding public safety, the government’s #1 job. Many of those set loose are seriously bad guys.

This foreign criminal release should not be confused with a different bunch, 68,000 foreign criminals sprung from incarceration announced in March. Yes, it is hard to keep up with the many ways that the American people are endangered by the crime-friendly policies of today’s Washington.

CIS’s handy list of the crimes committed by non-American bad guys tells the tale. The US has so many diverse opportunities for lawbreaking:

I wondered about how many miscreants in the list were lucky enough to come from nations that won’t receive their homegrown criminal, but the number was only 3,000. As reported here earlier, the Supreme Court’a 2001 ruling of Zadvydas v. Davis, 2001, required foreign criminals could not be jailed indefinitely if the dear homeland wouldn’t take them.

The response to the report was fairly intense — maybe because of midterm elections looming in a few months? Amnesty squish Congressman Goodlatte was quick out of the box to say he was shocked, shocked that bad guys were being loosed on American streets, even suggesting a hearing.

Does public safety oversight happen only when the members are seeing an election in the near future?

Fox News has had a couple segments. The following is decent.

This one also:

The Washington Times gave the story front-page attention.

Feds released hundreds of immigrant murderers, drunk drivers, sex-crimes convicts, By Stephen Dinan, Washington Times, May 12, 2014

Immigration officials knowingly released dozens of murderers and thousands of drunken drivers back into the U.S. in 2013, according to Obama administration statistics that could undercut the president’s argument that he is trying to focus on the most serious criminals in his immigration enforcement.

Among the 36,000 immigrants whom U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement released from custody last year there were 116 with convictions for homicide, 43 for negligent manslaughter, 14 for voluntary manslaughter and one with a conviction classified by ICE as “homicide-willful kill-public official-gun.”

The immigrants were in deportation proceedings, meaning ICE was trying to remove them from the country and could have held them in detention but released them anyway, according to the Center for Immigration Studies, which published the numbers Monday. The Washington Times also obtained the data.

“This would be considered the worst prison break in American history, except it was sanctioned by the president and perpetrated by our own immigration officials,” said Rep. Lamar Smith, Texas Republican. “The administration’s actions are outrageous. They willfully and knowingly put the interests of criminal immigrants before the safety and security of the American people.”

The data raised thorny questions about how the government decides which immigrants to detain and which it will release as they await court hearings and final action on deportation.

Jessica Vaughan, policy studies director at the Center for Immigration Studies, said the numbers undercut the Obama administration’s argument that it is trying to keep its enforcement efforts targeted at dangerous criminals.

“We keep hearing from the administration that they are focused like a laser on enforcement against the worst of the worst, convicted criminals, as their top priority. On the other hand, they are releasing, at a rate of about 100 a day, aliens from their custody with criminal convictions, and many of them are serious criminal convictions,” she said. Ann Coulter: America Shouldn’t Welcome Terrorists as Immigrants

Judge Jeanine Pirro is generally pretty sharp on her Fox News show, so it was disappointing to see her interrupt guest Ann Coulter recently as she was making an important point about the worsening snooper state. Coulter was connecting the dots between the need for more surveillance in America and the permissive immigration which has allowed our enemies to live among us. But Judge Jeanine wanted to talk about the little drone gizmo on her desk, so a vital topic was sidelined.

COULTER: The reason we need them [drones], is that the immigration service isn’t doing their job. When we talk about spying on American citizens, it’s always “American citizen Anwar al-Awlaki.” Yeah, okay, they are technically American citizens like these Chechnians were American citizens…

JUDGE JEANINE: Yeah but I’m worried about, I’m having a barbecue at my house, do I have to worry about a drone…

Borders exist to keep out enemies as well as define the national territory. But under the liberal multicultural philosophy, we’re all one diverse one-worlder family, and the concept of “enemy” is too old-fashioned for our modern 21st century. Unfortunately the jihadists have a different idea of a utopian future, where we infidels will be forced to surrender to the rule of Allah and submission to the Koran will be the principle of governance. Muslim immigration is turning Europe into Eurabia before our eyes. Why doesn’t America see what happens when historic enemies of liberty are admitted as immigrants by the millions?

Coulter stuck to her guns and got in another lick:

COULTER: I keep going back to the root cause of the problem, which is that we are inviting terrorists to come here and become American citizens … the INS shouldn’t be letting in potential terrorists.

Interestingly, Ann Coulter’s recent column focused on similar arguments:

Avoid the Need for Spying Using One Not-So-Weird Trick, AnnCoulter.com, June 19, 2013

Well, of course the government is spying on Americans! Look at the havoc caused by American citizens engaging in terrorism.

There’s “American citizen” David Coleman Headley, who conspired with Pakistani military officers to commit the 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India, that left more than 160 people dead.

Headley’s ancestors served under Gen. George Washington — no, I’m sorry, Headley was born “Daood Sayed Gilani” in Washington, D.C., to a Pakistani father. Like your typical American boy, he enjoyed TV’s “Happy Days” and murdering innocent people in terrorist attacks.

There were the 20 “American” men from the Minneapolis area who joined a terrorist group in Somalia in 2008. I knew the Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party would cause trouble one of these days! Continue reading this article

Congressman’s Border Tour Reveals Same Old Lawlessness

Rep Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) visited the southern border recently, which was interesting to follow via remarks and photos on Twitter (@jasoninthehouse). He was pretty shocked at one border crossing spot which not only isn’t fenced, but has a handrail and convenient steps leading to the Rio Grande. We wouldn’t want any illegal alien to stub his toe en route to stealing an American job!

When he appeared on Fox News on April 5, he sounded surprised at the general level of anarchy, given the administration’s many assurances of border security. “That border is still very porous,” he observed and seemed taken aback at the diversity of the OTMs, from Chinese nationals to Romanians. At the Eloy Detention Center, out of 1500 total detained, 900 were non-Mexicans. Plus, parts of the border have no fence at all. Mexican kiddies cross the border daily to mooch free-to-them schooling on the American side at Naco Arizona.

So the border is just as lawless as it has been for years. But we little citizens are supposed to accept a nation-changing amnesty with the promise of future enforcement from Obama and his cronies.

At least Chaffetz sounds a little more interested in enforcement after his visit to the real deal. It’s always good to see the word “punishment” being used regarding lawbreaking foreigners. And lengthy incarceration needn’t cost a lot, as shown by Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s tent city detention center.

Chaffetz wants tougher treatment of illegal border crossers, Salt Lake Tribune, April 5, 2013

The southwest border is porous and the punishment for illegally crossing it is not tough enough, Rep. Jason Chaffetz said after spending three days in southern Arizona with Border Patrol agents this week.

While Chaffetz, R-Utah, has a list of problems with border security, what he doesn’t have yet are policy solutions.

“If there was a simple, easy answer I’m sure someone would have done it a long time ago,” he said Friday after returning to Utah. He said no fence will stop all illegal immigration, particularly for people involved in the drug trade and those searching for jobs.

The congressman is the chairman of the House national security subcommittee and he’s planning a border security hearing for May, where he’ll continue to explore the topic.

“I really worry that there is no consequence of coming across the border illegally,” he said. “There is no pain involved in that.” Continue reading this article

Obama’s Amnesty Is the New Border Magnet

Job-thieving foreigners have long been attracted to American jobs, but the recent border surge has been fueled by reports on hispanic media of the approaching amnesty the open-borders gang hopes to rubber-stamp into law.

At least that’s what invasive foreigners say in post-apprehension interviews, namely they heard from presumably Spanish-speaking media that they should run for the border to get their Obamamnesty before it’s too late to line up the necessary fraudulent papers.

Interestingly, many of the newbie invaders are from the poor countries south of wealthy Mexico.

It’s good that the DHS managers miraculously found sufficient funds to restore the Border Patrol to full strength from bogus cutbacks, because in Texas at least, the BP is being overwhelmed by the amnesty flood.

Budget cuts, DC debate have illegals surging across Mexican border, experts say, Fox News, April 2, 2013

Contrary to the Obama administration’s claim the border has never been more secure, high-ranking Border Patrol officials in Texas are considering the need for a “tent city” because of a surge of illegal immigrants in the Rio Grande Valley.

The wave of illegal immigrants, many from Central America, appears to be an unintended consequence of the debate raging in Washington over an immigration bill. In interviews after being apprehended, immigrants say federal budget constraints and expected amnesty or legalization for those already living here make it a no-lose proposition.

“We’ve seen a 500 percent surge in the amount of activity from August to December of last year,” Janice Kephart, of the Washington-based Center for Immigration Studies, told Fox News.

Whereas people caught crossing illegally near the Mexican border once opted simply to be turned back, they now increasingly are invoking their right to a hearing, federal sources told Fox News. The reason is twofold: Budget cuts mean they are unlikely to be held pending their appearance, and they also think establishing a paper trail of their presence in the U.S. will help when the debate in Washington ends.

Border Patrol sources told Fox News the newest illegal immigrants have nothing to fear from being caught.

“With the knowledge of immigration reform, you will — and are — seeing a huge flow of illegals hitting the Southern border looking to stay caught,” a Border Patrol source told Fox News.

Another said, “Central Americans and South Americans are flooding the system asking for hearings knowing immigration reform/amnesty is coming.” Continue reading this article

Obama Administration Returns Saudis to Easy-Entry Program

The current administration is on a jihad against public safety. A couple recent examples: cutbacks of the Border Patrol and the release of thousands of foreign criminals from prison to American streets — both using the sequester as an excuse.

Another dangerous policy change is the renewal of rubber-stamp visas for Saudi nationals to enter the United States. Keep in mind that 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers were Saudis.

Before the terrorist attacks, Saudis had access to a program called Visa Express, that only required a visit to a travel agent in the Kingdom. That policy was discontinued a few months after the 2001 terror attacks.

But now an updated version is back, only with a reassuring new name — the Global Entry trusted traveler program. Judicial Watch notes “just three years ago the U.S. government actually placed Saudi Arabia on a list of 14 countries whose travelers would face enhanced security.” How quickly things can change in Washington when powerful people exert their influence.

Robert Spencer and Michael Coren discussed the policy change last week on SunTV:

The latest news is that some House Republicans are asking questions about the bonehead program that endangers America’s national security.

House Republicans ask why Saudi Arabia was added to trusted traveler program, Daily Caller, March 29, 2013

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul and the panel’s subcommittee chairmen are calling on Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to explain why DHS has extended a trusted traveler program to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a letter to Napolitano released Thursday, the seven GOP lawmakers voiced their concerns about “potential risks” associated with opening the Global Entry trusted traveler program — which “allows expedited clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travelers upon arrival in the United States” — to Saudi Arabia

“Of the 19 individuals who hijacked American planes on September 11, 2001 — 15 were from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” the committee members wrote in the letter dated March 27 but released the following day. “More recently, following the plot to blow up an international flight over Detroit on Christmas Day 2009, the Department saw fit to increase the scrutiny of passengers from countries like Saudi Arabia. This must be a factor in determining who to admit into the Global Entry Program.”

Napolitano and Saudi Arabian Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayef announced the agreement to expand the trusted traveler program to Saudi Arabia and begin plans for a similar program for American travelers to Saudi Arabia in January. Continue reading this article

Border Enforcement Cut, Using Sequester Excuse

How much does the Obama administration despise public safety? Let’s count the ways. First, there is the wholesale attack on the gun ownership of law-abiding citizens, who use firearms to protect themselves and their families.

Then the sequester excuse was used to release thousands of illegal alien criminals slated for deportation.

The latest attack on public safety is the cutback on Border Patrol coverage of the southern perimeter. What great news for Mexican drug cartels and Islamic terrorists! The cutback is also a fine opportunity for millions of foreigners who might hope to be included in Obama’s rubber-stamp amnesty for future Democrats.

It’s not like we have anything like a fortified border, so lots of boots on the ground are required. But the Obama gang plans to cut the hours of the Border Patrol in order to make the sequester cause pain, as they promised.

Agents Warn Budget Cuts Will Leave the Border Unprotected, Fox News, By William La Jeunesse, March 27, 2013

While Homeland Security officials stick to their claim that the border is as “secure as it’s ever been,” this week the Border Patrol effectively cut some 4,000 agents from its force due to budget cuts — 20 percent of its total manpower.

The cuts, meant to close a $250 million shortfall due to “sequestration,” forced Border Patrol brass to make some tough choices. One option included putting agents on furlough two days a month — but agency administrators instead opted to eliminate overtime, according to Shawn Moran, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council.

“The border is not secure. It’s safer than it has been in decades but it is by no means secure and it won’t be if you cut 20 percent of your workforce,” Moran said Wednesday.

“This is no longer about border security,” Moran added. “This has become a corporate mentality. They say it’s about the mission but if it was we’d be out there securing the border. They’re worried about securing bottom line.”

A Homeland Security Department spokesman took exception to Moran’s remarks, calling them out of line and untrue. The department maintained the cuts were necessary to comply with automatic spending cuts — “the sequester.” Continue reading this article

Obama Frees Foreign Criminals but Seeks to Deport German Homeschoolers

We learned recently of the Obama administration’s decision to release thousands of criminal aliens onto American streets, using approaching sequester budget cuts as an excuse.

But do not think that the Obama crowd objects to deportation generally. In fact, Eric Holder’s Justice Department is working to deport a German family pursuing an asylum claim because Germany bars homeschooling.

Eric Holder has taken the position that homeschooling is not a human right regarding asylum, and that policy could affect American parents as well. About two million students are currently homeschooled in the United States, about 2.9 percent of the total. The German family case may signal a crackdown coming from Washington on the freedom of US parents to educate their own children.

Some European nations want every kid put in the state schools to absorb the diversity belief system. Sweden is particularly bad for demanding even little toddlers be immersed in state-approved social attitudes. (See Sweden’s Crackdown on Home Schooling Causes Parents to Flee.)

The Romeike family (shown below) left Germany and sought asylum in the United States because Germany doesn’t allow families to homeschool.

The family was granted asylum initially, but now the Obama administration is using its powerful resources to deport them.

Americans Warned: Home Schoolers Stripped of Rights, By Dale Hurd, CBN News, March 18, 2013

BERLIN — Recently, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has said that home schooling is not a parent’s right. It is a statement some are saying should frighten American parents.

Nations like Germany and Sweden show that when governments take away home schooling rights, it’s a slippery slope to no parental rights.

America the Refuge or Not

The Romeike family came to the United States from Germany five years ago hoping to find refuge. They wanted to home-school their children in freedom and a federal judge granted them asylum.

But now the Obama administration has been trying to deport them, arguing that home schooling is not a right. The case is currently before a federal appeals court.

Uwe and Hannelore Romeike began home schooling in Germany because they didn’t want their children exposed to things like witchcraft and graphic sex education that are taught in German schools.

“There were stories where [school children] were encouraged to ask the devil for help instead of God and actually the devil would help (in the story),” Uwe said.
