Most of those crimes all sound like jail time to non-lawyer me, but an actual immigration lawyer recently wrote that it’s more likely she might have her US citizenship removed or be deported.
Of course, the ideal outcome would be for the scheming America hater to do some hard time in the joint, followed by a one-way trip home — win, win. But permanent removal in the near future would be an acceptable consolation prize for patriotic Americans.
The immigration lawyer examines a substantial list of questions about Omar’s background that has “more questions than answers” — and it’s curious that a well known public figure has so many mysteries about her background and identity.
The lawyer warns she could be repatriated if she doesn’t get a good attorney — hope springs eternal!
Rep. Ilhan Omar needs competent immigration counsel to ensure that there is no threat of her losing her citizenship, or, worse, deportation.
The Department of Justice has reportedly assigned an FBI special agent to work with Immigration and Customs and Enforcement and the Department of Education Inspector General Charge to investigate Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) for alleged criminal violations relating to perjury, immigration fraud, marriage fraud, state and federal tax fraud, federal student loan fraud, and bigamy.
As an immigration lawyer, the very first question that came to mind when I read these reports was what immigration consequences, if any, could attach in the event that any of the above allegations are proven beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. My analysis, unfortunately, has resulted in more unanswerable questions than definitive answers.
My analysis started with the fact that it is widely known Omar was born in Somalia, and immigrated to the United States as a Somali refugee. At some point after her admission to the country, she obtained U.S. citizenship. The Associated Press reported on November 5, 2009, that Omar fled Somalia to a refugee camp in Kenya with her family in 1991. She ultimately immigrated to the United States as a refugee in 1995.
If this report is correct, the analysis is fairly straightforward. Generally speaking, U.S. immigration law permits refugees to apply for permanent residence, commonly known as a “green card,” one-year after arrival. Five years after holding a green card, refugees may then apply to become a citizen through a process called naturalization.
Naturalization applicants must show they meet residency requirements, and have good moral character. It was reported that Omar became a citizen in 2000, five years after her arrival, at the age of 17.
This last detail is important, and is where things start to get murky. If Omar became a U.S. citizen at the age of 17, she must have obtained it through automatic acquisition after the naturalization of at least one of her parents. Omar would not have been able to apply for citizenship on her own because individuals are ineligible to apply for naturalization until age 18.
Here is where it gets really complicated. The requirements for automatic acquisition have changed several times throughout the last century. The marital status of Omar’s parents would determine whether she could have acquired citizenship. I have no details about their marital status to be able to determine if these legal requirements were fulfilled.
However, if Omar did not have to apply for naturalization, it could eliminate one possible crime that she could be charged with: knowingly giving false information in furtherance of an application for citizenship. A conviction for this crime would lead to her denaturalization, resulting in the loss of citizenship, and the institution of removal proceedings to deport her.
But the analysis doesn’t stop there. For Omar to have automatically acquired citizenship, she must also have been lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence, and there are reports questioning the legality of her admission as a refugee.
David Steinberg has covered the Omar saga for several years and has openly questioned whether she is who she says she is. Steinberg has alleged that Omar assumed her name from an unrelated family that was being granted refugee status. Although I have no way to independently assess the veracity of this report, there is circumstantial evidence that this type of immigration fraud was rampant in the circumstances under which Omar was admitted to the United States.
Specifically, in 2009 the Obama administration assessed the viability of re-employing a Bush-era pilot program that unearthed widespread immigration fraud. It found that as many as 87 percent of applications claiming familial relationship were fraudulent. If the reports are ultimately found true, the immigration consequences would be severe, including loss of citizenship and the institution of removal proceedings. Moreover, there may be no defenses to removal in an immigration court setting to stop her deportation. (Continues)
Ilhan Omar, a current member of the US Congress, has been a disturbing example of what happens when a hostile muslim acquires a degree of power in this country. She was generously brought here as a Somali refugee from Africa, yet Omar does everything possible to insult the nation that rescued her and her family.
She clearly hates America, shown by her comments in the magazine Vogue Arabia that living here is an “everyday assault” to her diverse identity.
Below, Omar was given the high fashion treatment in Vogue Arabia despite her political remarks.
But her behavior goes beyond mere rudeness to the United States — her apparent criminal activity is plentiful and diverse. Fox News reported on Thursday that she is being investigated by several federal agencies for various scams and assorted lawbreaking:
TRACE GALLEGHER: The case was initially assigned by the Department of Justice to an FBI agent: now Democratic Congresswoman Ilan Omar is reportedly also being looked at by Customs and Immigration Enforcement or ICE and the Inspector General for the Department of Education.
The Blaze is reporting the allegations include perjury, immigration fraud, tax fraud, student loan fraud and possibly bigamy. The investigation is focused on Omar’s 2009 marriage to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi who Judicial Watch claims is her biological brother that she married to skirt immigration laws.
And now there’s allegations the marriage might also have been used to obtain illegal student loans and that while she was married to Said Elmi, Omar allegedly filed illegal joint tax returns with Ahmed Hirsi. He’s the father of her three children who she religiously married in 2002, separated from in 2008, then legally married him in 2018 before legally divorcing him.
Omar calls the allegations baseless yet refuses and has four months to answer questions or turn over any documents, though soon she may be compelled to turn over those documents and answer questions.
Representative Ilhan Omar is a prime example of the failure of America’s immigration system: the unfortunate emphasis on diversity has welcomed all sorts of groups and individuals that add nothing of value and actively hate this country. The worst of course are muslims: their holy book instructs followers to conquer infidels around the world — the koran has more than 100 verses promoting violence as part of the faith. Another strategy that has become more common is hijrah — immigration for the propagation of belief in Islam.
Along with the conquering comes the idea of Islamic superiority even though their societies are basket cases.
She can’t even be bothered to follow the laws of the Congress to which she was elected — unimportant infidel details, she may think.
Tucker Carlson investigated the latest news about Omar which concerns campaign finance violations that may have occurred during her affair with a married consultant:
TUCKER CARLSON: Congressman Ilhan Omar is back in the news again. In newly released divorce papers, a claim has made that she has had a long term affair with a political consultant — her political consultant named Tim Mynett.
A new complaint says Omar’s involvement with Mynett may have violated campaign finance laws. Peter Flaherty is Chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center, and he joins us tonight. Peter, thanks very much for coming on.
PETER FLAHERTY: Good evening.
CARLSON: So typically, we don’t jump into people personal lives because, it’s kind of no one’s business, I think. But in this specific case, you have an allegation that a relationship like this could violate the law. How would that work?
FLAHERTY: Well, the problem here is that private actions may have resulted in violations of the law, the Federal Election Campaign Act. And in this case, you have Representative Ilhan Omar’s campaign paying for the travel of a political consultant with which it’s alleged that Representative Omar is having an affair.

On Wednesday, Tucker Carlson discussed the fascinating case of Ilhan Omar, the Somali-born elected congressional representative from Minnesota. Some might call her a demonstration of how diverse persons can succeed in America.
Others might notice Omar’s sketchy past and see a criminal who just hasn’t been prosecuted yet. The charges are not new and have been examined here previously.
Tucker called Omar a lunatic, but a better characterization might be that she is a cultural stew of arrogant sharia-compliant muslim immigrant who believes she will prevail over the stupid infidels in America. Oh, and political correctness is on her side also, since she is not shy about calling critics Racist, as she did in her recent New York Times opinion piece Ilhan Omar: It Is Not Enough to Condemn Trump’s Racism.
TUCKER CARLSON: In a resurfaced interview from 2018, Ilhan Omar told Al Jazeera that America ought to engage in racial profiling of white men, whom she blamed for, quote, “Most of the deaths within this country.”
ILHAN OMAR: I would say our country should be more fearful of white man across our country because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country. We should be profiling, monitoring and creating policies to fight the radicalization of white men.
CARLSON: In the same interview, Omar said America shouldn’t worry about young Muslims leaving her state of Minnesota to fight for ISIS or Al-Shabaab. The real — I’m not making this up, I’ve got to pause right here, because we’re not making this up. It’s hard to believe, but we’re actually not, this is real.
Omar said the real concern was the rhetoric of local politicians, which apparently drove these young terrorists into terrorism. In short, Ilhan Omar is a lunatic, an embarrassing blight on American politics, but hopefully, one that will eventually pass.
Recently, the group Judicial Watch filed a formal ethics complaint against Omar. The group requested a full investigation into matters that include potential tax fraud, marriage fraud, and immigration fraud, as well as perjury. On Tuesday, Tucker Carlson used Rep. Ilhan Omar as an example of how the left’s diversity ideology has been very damaging to America via our corroded immigration policy.
The Minnesota Democrat is clearly not the sort of person we want in the US Congress. She hates America, the nation that rescued her from failed state Somalia when she was 10. In a March interview in Vogue Arabia (!), she said that living in Trump’s America is an “everyday assault.”
By supporting Islamic dress codes for women, Omar has become a fashion icon for misogynous sharia proponents as well as a well known anti-American figure in the US Congress.
TUCKER CARLSON: The Democratic candidates for President are on the road this week telling voters that the United States is an awful country. “America’s institutions are built on white supremacy,” squeaked Beto O’Rourke in an event yesterday.
Of all the lies these people tell — and there are many — this is the most absurd. In fact, the United States is the kindest, most open-minded place on the planet. The U.S. has done more for other people and received less in return than any nation in history by far.
Americans like to help. It makes us feel good. Some of our deepest satisfaction as a country comes from watching penniless immigrants arrive on our shores, buy into our values and thrive. We call it the American Dream and nothing makes us prouder.
It was in that spirit that in 1992, the United States welcomed 10-year-old Ilhan Omar and her family. Omar was born in Somalia, one of the world’s poorest countries. It was then ruled by a Marxist military dictatorship. When Omar was six, she and her parents and their six siblings fled a worsening civil war and wound up in a refugee camp in Kenya. They spent four years there until America offered the family asylum here and let them settle in Minneapolis.
Omar’s father drove a taxi at first then got a job at the Post Office working for the government. Omar, meanwhile, grew up free in the world’s richest country with all the bounty that that implies.
She became a citizen, then went to work for the State University. A few years later, she became a Member of Congress elected by voters who are proud to see an immigrant succeed.
Omar is now at the age of only 36, one of the most powerful women in America. It’s an amazing story really. Only in this country could it have happened.

Ilhan Omar is quite the well publicized figure in the magazine Vogue Arabia — yes, there is such a publication, apparently dedicated to explaining the possibilities for style even in the misogynous Middle East. Anything for a buck (or riyal), as they say.
Rep. Ilhan Omar is now being presented as a fashion icon in addition to her reputation as a divisive political figure.

Interestingly, she is quite honest about hating America, a nation which rescued her and her family from a Kenyan refugee camp, yet she says living here is “an everyday assault.”
On his Monday show, Tucker Carlson characterized America as the most generous country in history, but Washington’s choices about the recipients of kindness has not always been wise. It would be better not to welcome historic enemies of Western Civilization inside the gates, and certainly not elect them to the US Congress. But immigration demography will have its effects, and they were totally predictable: admit sharia followers and eventually some will attain a degree of political power.
TUCKER CARLSON (0:58): Omar’s country collapsed as a child. She lived for years in Kenya in that refugee camp; she may have died there without outside help. But help came. From where? From here — America.
And this country didn’t just welcome Ilhan Omar to America: we paid to relocate her family and many others from a foreign continent purely for the sake of being good people, for altruism, because no country in history has been as generous as we are to places we have no ties to and no obligations we’ve been kind anyway, because that’s who we are.
Despite her humble and foreign birth Omar has been elected to our national lawmaking body and good for her — so how does she repay her adopted country, the one that may literally have saved her life? She attacks it as hateful and racist.
And for that she is applauded by the Democratic Party because they view this country as hateful and racist too. The more Ilhan Omar’s America has, they believe, the better, But is that what’s best for America? Here’s another suggestion we should think about. Maybe our immigration system should prioritize people who actually like this country and are grateful to be here. Why wouldn’t we do that?
Twenty years after becoming a US citizen, Ilhan Omar made history in her adopted country. With her hand on her grandfather’s Qur’an, she was sworn into the US Congress, becoming the first hijabi member to do so. The scene was all the more poignant as it marked the lifting of a 181-year-old ban preventing anyone from wearing any kind of headwear in the chamber. Along with Rashida Tlaib (who doesn’t wear a hijab), she was also one of the first two Muslim women to enter Congress, and the first Somali-American. [. . .]
As the US representative for Minnesota’s 5th congressional district, one of Omar’s policies includes promoting and establishing a just immigration system; something that is at odds with the current political climate in the country. “It’s challenging,” she says of living in President Trump’s America, where her status and heritage is constantly criticized. “It’s an everyday assault. Every day, a part of your identity is threatened, demonized, and vilified. Trump is tapping into an ugly part of our society and freeing its ugliness.”
Omar is an example of what Democrats have in mind for America with their immigration project of extreme diversity.

Ilhan Omar is clear about who she is — shown by her daily hijab wearing — namely a muslim who follows the Koran and sharia.
It’s important to remember that Islam disrespects all non-muslims but has special dislike reserved for Jews, so Omar’s anti-semitic remarks are consistent with her belief system.
Robert Spencer, the proprietor of JihadWatch.org helpfully supplied chapter and verse from the Koran to illustrate Islamic anti-semitism:
Jeanine Pirro said: “Think about this: She’s not getting this anti-Israel sentiment doctrine from the Democrat Party. So if it’s not rooted in the party, where is she getting it from? Think about it. Omar wears a hijab, which according to the Quran 33:59, tells women to cover so they won’t get molested. Is her adherence to this Islamic doctrine indicative of her adherence to Sharia law, which in itself is antithetical to the United States Constitution?”
For that, Fox rebuked her and demanded she apologize. She had no genuine reason to do so. Sharia is indeed inveterately antisemitic: the Qur’an demonizes the Jews in numerous ways. It depicts the Jews as inveterately evil and bent on destroying the well-being of the Muslims. They are the strongest of all people in enmity toward the Muslims (5:82); they fabricate things and falsely ascribe them to Allah (2:79; 3:75, 3:181); they claim that Allah’s power is limited (5:64); they love to listen to lies (5:41); they disobey Allah and never observe his commands (5:13). They are disputing and quarreling (2:247); hiding the truth and misleading people (3:78); staging rebellion against the prophets and rejecting their guidance (2:55); being hypocritical (2:14, 2:44); giving preference to their own interests over the teachings of Muhammad (2:87); wishing evil for people and trying to mislead them (2:109); feeling pain when others are happy or fortunate (3:120); being arrogant about their being Allah’s beloved people (5:18); devouring people’s wealth by subterfuge (4:161); slandering the true religion and being cursed by Allah (4:46); killing the prophets (2:61); being merciless and heartless (2:74); never keeping their promises or fulfilling their words (2:100); being unrestrained in committing sins (5:79); being cowardly (59:13-14); being miserly (4:53); being transformed into apes and pigs for breaking the Sabbath (2:63-65; 5:59-60; 7:166); and more. They are under Allah’s curse (9:30), and Muslims should wage war against them and subjugate them under Islamic hegemony (9:29).
Sharia also mandates that women cover their heads:
“And tell the believing women to reduce their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which appears thereof and to wrap their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands’ fathers, their sons, their husbands’ sons, their brothers, their brothers’ sons, their sisters’ sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed.” (Qur’an 24:31)
“O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.” (Qur’an 33:59) . . .
Wearing hijab is a sign that one accepts these imperatives. That is not necessarily true, as lots of women of all perspectives wear headscarves, but when a Muslim woman wears hijab, it’s reasonable to surmise that she accepts the Qur’an and Sunnah, the sources of Sharia. Sharia denies the freedom of speech, the freedom of conscience, the equality of rights of women, and the equality of rights of non-Muslims. Wearing hijab is a sign of adherence to Sharia. So what did Judge Jeanine Pirro say that was wrong about Ilhan Omar? She asked questions that need to be asked.
Ami Horowitz is an independent filmmaker who goes where the mainstream reporters often fear to tread, like quizzing Minnesota Somalis on their beliefs about sharia law versus American justice.
His most recent foray was tagging along with the Honduran caravan and asking relevant questions like their reason for trekking north to America. Answer: to get jobs and benefits, not escape any mythical persecution at home.
A multitude of services is available on the caravan for the illegal aliens which is training them to expect massive free stuff in America.
Horowitz has his own Youtube channel, and the caravan report includes a close-up view of invasive persons.
Of particular interest is the attitude of extreme entitlement the Hondurans have, that they are poor and therefore should be allowed to enter the United States, grab jobs from citizens and be eligible for all the social welfare programs that Americans pay high taxes to maintain.
In short, they come to plunder, not immigrate.
AMI HOROWITZ (5:00): This is one of the many many trucks and buses that are part of this caravan that are ferrying these guys from one location to another on the way to the United States. At the base camp there’s a mobile hospital stocked with enough pharmaceutical drugs to make Keith Richards blush. There’s also plenty of doctors and nurses attending to all the migrants.
(Addressing caravansters) America also has very generous benefits for people who live in America. Is that something you want to take advantage of?
ORANGE SHIRT HONDURAN: Yes, of course.
BLUE SHIRT: Yes it is. To improve our life through those benefits.
WOMAN WITH KIDS: I’m traveling with one of my boys and my kid here. But I’ve having problems with him, he is sick.
HOROWITZ: Do you think your son will have better treatment in the United States as opposed to Honduras?
WOMAN WITH KIDS: With God’s help, I think he will. [. . .]
HOROWITZ: There are probably several billion people in the world who are seeking a better life. Do these migrants think that all of them should be allowed to enter the US?
(Asks Hondurans) Should America let in anybody who wants to come in?
TAN SHIRT HONDURAN: That is what we want.
“ROCKSTAR” HAT: All of us here have lots of needs.
BLUE POLO: Truth be told, yes.
SHORT-HAIRED YOUNG GUY: Well . . . yes.
PLAID-SHIRT MAN: Yes, of course. Because it’s people in poverty with lots of needs. We are running away from the difficult reality in our lands.
Once upon a time, young dissatisfied men in Latin America might join a revolutionary group to fight for a better life. But now it’s just easier to go mooch off Americans.
Certainly eye-catching for traditional Americans would be the earlier shenanigans of the first ever Somali woman elected to the House, Ilhan Omar. She started getting attention in 2016 when she won a state House seat in Minnesota to represent an area now know as Little Mogadishu. A one-time refugee, Omar arrived in the Twin Cities in the 1990s.
But Omar’s backstory may have included a diverse marriage arrangement that is definitely non-kosher for American law: she apparently married her brother to ease her entrance to the United States because spouses are normally given preference in immigration cases.
Ilhan Omar will be elected to succeed Keith Ellison representing Minnesota’s Fifth District. It appears increasingly likely that she married her brother Ahmed Nur Said Elmi for dishonest purposes in 2009 and didn’t get around to dissolving the marriage until 2017, all the while living with the man she advertised as her lawful husband and father of her children. You’d never know it, however, if you get your news from the Star Tribune, as many Fifth District voters do (not that it would necessarily matter to them).
I came to this conclusion two years ago for reasons set forth in “The curious case of Ilhan Omar,” but I say it appears increasingly likely because of the work this campaign season of PJ Media’s David Steinberg. Building on my own work and especially that of Preya Samsundar, Steinberg has now published a four-part series of columns investigating Omar.
This is the diversity that Nancy Pelosi and Democrats celebrate — but to many Americans, such behavior shows how Somali immigration frequently brings crime and a vastly different culture that often resists assimilation.
Somali values are made clear by a major case of fraud now being reported: fake daycare businesses were set up to bilk the government of cash which is then carted off by the millions in suitcases to Somalia to fund Al Shebaab, a regional jihadist group. Tucker Carlson had a succinct report on Tuesday:
TUCKER CARLSON: Millions of taxpayer dollars may have been used to fund terrorists in Somalia; that’s according to a new report by a Fox affiliate in the Twin Cities. According to that story, many members of Minnesota’s Somali immigrant community have discovered they can open sham daycare centers that only pretend to watch children, collect a fat subsidy from the state for doing that and keep the change. They’ve make millions of dollars, up to a hundred million according to that report: that would be half of Minnesota’s annual budget for child care assistance. Again, these are people who were resettled here as an act of charity by our country, accused now of defrauding our country. And not just fraud — fraud so brazen the report says that Somalis buy shares in fake daycare outlets just to get a cut of it.
Some of this fraudulently obtained money is reportedly being shipped back to Somalia in suitcases full of cash to evade federal wire transfer restrictions some of this money is ending up in regions of Somalia controlled by the Islamic terror group Al Shabaab. . .
The Shabaab jihadists are a rough bunch, and millions of dollars can buy lots of weapons to murder infidels and disobedient muslims.
Before Somali immigration, Minnesota had a reputation as a friendly and law-abiding state, so $100 million stolen from the state’s taxpayers for child care comes as a shock, although muslim crime has been an ongoing theme there for years. The fraud certainly blows up the diversity narrative that liberals worship.
One news report from the Pioneer Press was eye-catching because of its raw emotion on display — it could have been written by a high school student:
Here’s the idea that’s freaking people out: “$100 million in Minnesota taxpayer child day care fraud is going to Islamic terrorists.”
It doesn’t look like all of that is true — but parts of it are.
There’s a lot of smoke — and a lot of fire — around this story, which KMSP-TV broke this week and has sent lawmakers and bureaucrats at the state Capitol into action. And these actions and reactions have been all over the place, ranging from hunkering in echo chambers to demanding answers to pouncing on red political meat to, well, everything in between.
It’s hard to keep track — and easy to get the facts wrong. Let’s try.

Why the shock? Somalis have been leaving Minnesota for years to fight for jihad in their ancestral homeland — why wouldn’t they transport stolen dollars to Somalia for the same purpose?
In Minneapolis, the local Muslim reaction over the murder of Australian woman Justine Damond by a Somali immigrant policeman has taken on a familiar theme — the old “backlash” dodge which attempts to make the Somalis into the victim.
Portraying Minnesota Somalis as the injured party is a heavy lift, largely because of their years-long record of violence, jihad and non-assimilation. In 2009 (when the Somali population of the state was only 32,000), the AP reported that the Rise of Somali Gangs Plagues Minneapolis. In the same year, Shirwa Ahmed (a 2000 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis), traveled to Somalia to blow up himself and 29 others in Mogadishu.
Last September Somali refugee Dahir Aden stabbed 10 persons in a St. Cloud shopping center while shouting Allah. Making local people fear a jihad attack while browsing in the mall will not convince them trust Muslim immigrants.
So if indeed there is a backlash against Somalis in Minnesota, an argument can be made that they brought on distrust and ill feeling themselves, by their years of violence, jihad and hatred of the US — which Americans have recognized as a threat.
When Mohamed Noor joined the Minneapolis police force and was assigned to patrol the city’s southwest corner, the Somali community there — the nation’s largest — threw a party for him to celebrate.
He was the first Somali American officer to serve in Minneapolis’s fifth precinct and one of fewer than a dozen Somali American officers in the department. His presence on the squad brought Somali activists some pride and reassurance at a time of Islamophobia in America and nationwide racial tension stoked in part by shootings of black people by white police officers.
Now that same Somali community is bracing for a backlash against Noor that has already begun.
On Monday, multiple media outlets named Noor as the officer who fatally shot an unarmed Australian woman in the city’s popular Fulton neighborhood over the weekend, an incident that has grabbed global attention and thrust Minneapolis into yet another uproar over police violence….
The report stoked fear among Somalis in the Twin Cities, who have worked for decades to become part of the city’s fabric. There are now Somalis on the police force, the city council and in the Minnesota House of Representatives. But the largely Muslim population of Somali Americans in the region still face Islamophobia and innuendo about terrorism.
“They fear this will be just another event used to create animosity toward the Somali community,” Mohamud Noor, executive director at the Confederation of Somali Community in Minnesota, told The Post.
Already, hateful posts criticizing Islam and sharia law are filling social media in response to the police shooting. Several far-right blogs featured sensational headlines that blamed the officer’s ethnicity for the deadly use of force. Continue reading this article
Now that spring has melted the snow around the Canada border, more illegal aliens squatting in the US are moving north for better mooching opportunities.
It’s lucky for Americans that the left press has created so much fear among the illegal aliens and refugee fraudsters when the truth is rather different.
The PBS report strives to elicit a guilt response from Americans (whose taxes partially fund the liberal network). But there are problems, in particular the Somali woman Nasra with autistic kid. PBS says “She settled in Minneapolis on a U.S. medical visa to get treatment for her six-year-old autistic son.” But a medical visa is temporary, not an excuse for settlement. Plus a medical visa requires the recipient to show an ability to pay for the treatment, which seem unlikely. Nasra sounds like she got in as a refugee, since she said she would be killed if sent back to Somalia, just as the drill requires.
They all say they will be murdered if required to live in their own countries. It’s amazing anyone abroad manages to survive at all.
LISA DESAI: Much of the four thousand mile American border with Canada is wide open and unsecured. In the first three months of this year, a steady stream of immigrants from all over the world braved the bitter cold to reach a country where they believe there’s less risk of detention and deportation.
Just north of Minnesota and North Dakota lies the Canadian province of Manitoba. The town of Emerson is a main entry point. An hour’s drive north is the provincial capital, Winnipeg, a city of 700-thousand. That’s where I met this woman from Somalia.
For her safety, we agreed to shield her face and call her “Nasra.” She settled in Minneapolis on a U.S. medical visa to get treatment for her six-year-old autistic son. Her family is part of a minority clan persecuted in Somalia’s civil war.
NASRA: I faced a lot of problems in Somalia. During the war, my father and my brother were attacked, and my mother and I endured so much pain — we left and never went back.
LISA DESAI: After President Trump listed Somalia as one of the countries whose citizens would be blocked from entering the U.S. Nasra decided that although she was legal, it wasn’t safe to stay.
NASRA: I heard that they were going to arrest people and take them back to Somalia and that they were going into people’s homes and they were going to separate families, mothers from children.
LISA DESAI: What would happen if you were deported back to Somalia?
NASRA: If I go back to Somalia I won’t stand a chance there, I would be killed.
LISA DESAI: In February, she left Minneapolis and became one of nearly 1,000 migrants, according to the Canadian Government, to cross from the U.S. into Canada this year. She paid a driver to take her and her son most of the way.
NASRA: We walked for hours, the snow was falling, we couldn’t see. It was cold, it was dark and if it wasn’t for God we would have died. Continue reading this article
