Robert Spencer Explains Important Points about the History of Jihad

Robert Spencer runs the website JihadWatch.org and has written many informative books warning westerners about the threat of Islam, a totalitarian political system.

A couple weeks backs he gave a brief but jam-packed talk about the history of Islam, focusing on three important lessons therein, namely (one) there has never been a lasting alliance between a Muslim state and a non‑Muslim one; (two) there has never been a Western-style secular republic that was based on Islamic principles; (three) there’s never been a shortage of non‑Muslims who are willing to help the jihad.

Along the way, we learn about where Saudi Arabia got its name and how a Minneapolis charter school that received taxpayer funds was named for a Muslim conqueror of Spain.

Below, Islam was spread by the sword, giving the political system quite a bit of territory today.

Spencer gave his speech at the recent Restoration Weekend sponsored by the David Horowitz organization:

Robert Spencer Speech, Frontpagemag.com, November 29, 2018

TRANSCRIPT

Thank you very much, and yes indeed, The History of Jihad is the first book that chronicles the entirety of the phenomenon of jihad for 1,400 years. Not just the jihad against Europe, although that’s very much a part of the book, but also the jihad against India and the jihad elsewhere, also tying in the fact that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is itself a jihad, and of course, the people who struck us on 9/11 were motivated by the exact same ideology that has motivated the jihad conquests of the distant past and is still with us very much today. Of course, one of the reasons why anybody is interested in reading history or studying history is because of the old adage “Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” More to the point, really, is that if you do not learn from your mistakes, you keep making the same mistakes again and again and again. That’s U.S. foreign policy today, because of, in large part, a lack of awareness and understanding of the nature and magnitude of the jihad threat and of a complete lack of knowledge of the history of jihad. So I thought this morning very briefly I’d give you three lessons from history that could have a very great impact on foreign policy today in the United States, were there to be sanity in the State Department, which, of course, I know is at a premium.

Now, the first one is that nowhere in history, and this is something to bear in mind when you’re thinking about the case of Jamal Khashoggi, who is, of course, the sainted and martyred journalist who was killed by the Saudis. He was actually a pro-Al Qaeda Muslim Brotherhood operative who was killed by the Saudis, so there are no good guys in that story. But in light of it, it is important to remember that when you look through and examine and study the history of Islam for 1,400 years, there has never been a lasting alliance between a Muslim state and a non‑Muslim state. It would be nice if there had been. There were some sort-term alliances of convenience, but that’s another problem as well. “All Africa Is Here” — Many in Illegal Migrant Flow Now Enter via Spain

One of the oddities of European geography is that a tiny bit of Spain exists on the African continent in the small communities of Melilla and Ceuta, as shown in the map below.

Naturally, these spots are a target for invasive Africans hoping to arrive in the freebie paradise on the mainland. Spain has unwisely been friendly to the aliens or, as Reuters reported in July, Spain emerges as EU’s new weak link for Africa migration.

Spain is seen by muslims as their territory because there was an Islamic presence there in the past. So some of the Africans who are muslims may well regard their illegal presence in Spain as a righteous jihad to reclaim Al Andalus for allah.

In fact, the process of re-Islamization is well underway in some communities, according to a 2012 report from Dale Hurd.

On Monday, the New York Times front-paged a story about the stresses on the little Spanish enclaves from illegal alien Africans seeking to mooch a better life in Europe.

That article was reprinted elsewhere, so click away to read the whole thing:

‘All of Africa Is Here’: Where Europe’s Southern Border Is Just a Fence, LiveNewsCity.com, August 19, 2018

CEUTA, Spain — For most migrants from Africa, the last stage of their trip to Europe involves some sort of perilous sea crossing. At the border in Ceuta, there is just a fence.

Ceuta (pronounced say-YOU-tah) is one of the two Spanish communities on the north coast of what otherwise would be Morocco, the only places where Europe has land borders with Africa. The other enclave is Melilla, farther east along the same coast.

Here, all that separates Europe from migrants is a double fence, 20 feet high and topped with barbed wire, stretching the four miles across the peninsula and dividing tiny Ceuta from Morocco — plus 1,100 Spanish federal police and Guardia Civil officers, a paramilitary police force.

They patrol a crossing point that has come under growing pressure.

After Italy’s new government closed the door to migrants, efforts to cross into Spain have more than quadrupled in 2018, making it the No. 1 European destination for migrants from Africa.

In the week ending Aug. 12, according to the International Organization for Migration, 1,419 migrants reached Spain, compared with 359 to Italy and 527 to Greece.

But the sea crossing to Spain, through the narrow straits of Gibraltar, is more dangerous than other passages, because of strong currents where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic.

Through June, 294 migrants drowned in the western Mediterranean, compared with 224 in all of 2017 in that area.

That has made trying to breach Ceuta’s heavily guarded fence an increasingly attractive proposition, a way to enter Spain without crossing the water. On any given day, young migrant men can be seen prowling on the Moroccan side, looking for an opportunity.

Some swim around the fences where they go down into the sea. Others take short, illicit boat trips from Morocco to Ceuta. But mostly they run and climb the fence, or use bolt-cutters to cut holes in it, where they are quickly spotted by motion detectors and guards in observation towers, and usually beaten back by policemen using sticks and fists.

Salif, 20, from Cameroon, said he tried 10 times to cross the fence in the past year, until he finally made it over on his 11th effort.

As often happens, successful tries are made by what locals call “mobbing,” when hundreds of migrants surge over the fence in a large group. Salif’s group came on June 6, when 400 young men began climbing the fence at sunrise.

Two were seriously injured on the barbed wire, and hospitalized in Ceuta. Eight, including Salif, managed to get over, and were then allowed to stay in a reception center in Ceuta, awaiting transfer to the mainland.

There, they can apply for asylum, a process that can take many months or even years. Most will be turned down, and the deportation process is slow and difficult.

While people often do get hurt trying to pierce the fence, deaths are rare.

“All of Africa is here,” said Salif, ticking off migrants he has met from Angola, Nigeria, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Benin — and even some from Pakistan and Bangladesh.

And they keep coming.

“Trying to stop migrants coming from Africa with a fence alone is as fanciful as the little Dutch boy who saves his country by putting his finger in a leaking dike,” said Leonard Doyle, the spokesman for the International Organization for Migration. (Continues)

Europe better figure out how to keep Africans out or else it will become a very different place for tomorrow’s generations.

Unfriendly Migrants Continue to Enter Europe

Here’s an odd scene from the bizarro world of illegal immigration into Europe these days: a large group of Africans muscled their way into Spain by attacking border guards with molotov cocktails and homemade flamethrowers. Yet they were apparently admitted instead of being arrested for assault.

It’s curious that the press persists in calling such persons “migrants” rather than “invaders” or “marauders.”

Below, invasive Africans climb a fence to enter an outpost of Spain on the continent of Africa.

Dale Hurd of CBN explains further:

Sweden has been willing to acquiesce to the will of the European Union that the illegal aliens be accepted and resettled.

Feces and Flamethrowers: Migrants Storm Gates of Europe as Muslim Radicalism Spikes 900% in Sweden, CBN.com, by Dale Hurd, July 30, 2018

Roughly 800 Africans stormed the border wall separating a Spanish enclave in Africa and Morocco last week. The migrants threw Molotov cocktails and feces at border guards and used lighters and aerosol cans to make flamethrowers. Once inside Spanish territory, they threw rocks at cars.

The European Union continues to try to force member states to take in the mostly Muslim migrants from Africa and the Middle East, but those who do now face soaring welfare costs, crime and terrorism.

The migrant issue has become a wedge dividing the European Union. The EU is still trying to punish nations who refuse to take Muslim refugees, but those who are – nations like Sweden – are paying a stiff price.

Most of the time Sweden looks like it’s functioning normally, but intelligence reports indicate the nation is sitting on a ticking time bomb of Muslim terrorism. A new report says Muslim radicalism in Sweden has increased by 900%.

Swedish terrorism expert Magnus Norell at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy says the chickens have come home to roost on Sweden’s open door immigration policy: “Our forecast is unless, unless we deal with this fairly soon, I mean head on, it’s gonna get from bad to worse I think.”

A report last year said crime in Sweden was on par with Mexico.  And a new study by the European think tank Gefira says the native white Swedish population will be a minority within a maximum of 40 years.

But rather than addressing the problem, Sweden continues to shoot the messenger. In the latest case, a dental hygienist reported to government authorities that the teeth of some of his migrant patients showed that they were not children as they had claimed, but adults. He was fired and fined over $50,000. (Continues)

A Thousand Africans Storm Spain’s Melilla Border, Half Get In

It doesn’t seem like Spain is trying very hard to keep the swarming Africans from climbing over its dinky Melilla fences and thereby gain entrance to Europe. Electrification or a moat would make breaking through harder — something should be done because the fence is not impressive at all.

Israel apparently builds serious border barriers — why doesn’t Spain copy what they do?

A thousand Africans tried on Wednesday and around half got through, and all of them will now be contacting everyone they know to tell them how easy it was to snooker the feeble Europeans and get in. Weakness invites more assaults.

1,000 migrants storm Spain’s African border, The Local, Spain, May 28, 2014

Around 1,000 would-be immigrants stormed the border fence between Morocco and the Spanish North African city of Melilla on Wednesday morning, with around 400 managing to enter the enclave.

The attempt to cross into Spain took place at 5.30am near Melilla’s Barrio China border post, Spanish daily ABC reported.

Those migrants who did manage to cross the six-metre (20-foor) high border fences into Spanish territory ran towards the already overcrowded CETI refugee centre.

A further ten immigrants spent some two hours on top of one of the border fences before coming down at around 7.30pm. Two remained on the fence at 8.30am.

The final number of people who attempted to cross is not yet known, but Wednesday’s border ‘assault’ is considered one of the largest ever, ABC said.

“It was a very large number,” the president of the city of Melilla, Juan José Imbroda, told Spanish public radio RNE. “An exterior part of the barrier was pushed over.” Continue reading this article

Are Millions of Africans about to Swarm into a More Open Europe?

The spring sailing season is getting off to a roaring start in the Mediterranean, where 18,000 diverse welfare seekers from Africa and the Middle East have boarded boats headed to soft-touch Europe since the beginning of this year.

On Thursday, the Italian navy reported it had “rescued” 1000 African boaters over 24 hours. Another count last week: 6000 in 40 boats in just four days.

The number of asylum seekers is 10 times what it was at this time last year, according to a UN representative.

Of course, the number of boaters using the Italy doorway have been accumulating including 43,000 in 2013, because it’s geographically easy for the Europe-bound. The land route through Spain’s national outposts Melilla and Ceuta in North Africa is also popular.

The Italian people aren’t too concerned because most of the Africans don’t stay, but continue on to the more generous welfare states in northern Europe, particularly Britain, Germany and Scandinavia.

Much of the do-gooderism of Europe was stirred to a fever pitch last October when a boat capsized off the coast of the Italian island Lampedusa where hundreds died. News accounts of the tragedy were filled with photos of coffins lined up and politicians promised to be more welcoming to illegal alien Africans.

Now Europe is about to reap the whirlwind from essentially declaring Europe to be open to anyone who wants to enter. This could easily be the Camp of the Saints year unless Europeans wake up from their liberal fantasies of universal openness and cultural relativism.

The Italian Interior Minister, Angelino Alfano, recently noted that up to 600,000 were ready to board smuggler boats in Libya alone. Multiply that by several failed states in the neighborhood plus the civil war in Syria and the number becomes millions.

One example of diversity failure is France, where more than four million Africans reside, many of whom are Islamic. As a result, neighborhoods with high Muslim population are physically dangerous for white French and are regarded as No-Go Zones where even police fear to tread.

Note to Europeans: the African boater situation doesn’t have to be suicide by insanely misguided kindness. Australia has a sensible policy of turning back the invasive ships, despite the shrieking of the Refugee Industrial Complex:

Asylum seekers video Australians towing them back towards Indonesia, The Guardian (UK), March 17, 2014

Asylum seekers who were forcibly returned to Indonesia by lifeboat have given the first detailed account of their ordeal and a unique insight into the federal government’s Operation Sovereign Borders.

When Indonesians and other Asian boaters become convinced that they will face an “ordeal” rather than a welcome in the target nation, they will stop coming. The strategy is called negative re-enforcement and works wonderfully in shaping behavior. Europe could benefit by doing likewise.

Spring Break: Africans Head for Europe in Record Numbers

It’s spring in the northern hemisphere, so in many backward areas, young men are gathering en masse to head for first-world nations that offer generous welfare programs and jobs for the unskilled.

In passive Europe, a Camp of the Saints scenario is shaping up as the culturally weak societies there have been convinced by socialists that Europe is guilty of success and must therefore accept millions of the world’s unhappy poor as social justice payback.

A week ago, around 500 Africans breached the Melilla entrance to Spain (located on the coast of Morocco), a record number thus far. They were from Mali and Senegal, both of which are around 90 percent Muslim. Interestingly, the El Pais report following has an amazing rough video of hundreds of Africans running toward the border, beyond my embedding expertise unfortunately. Because of the oddball outposts of Europe on the African continent (i.e. Melilla and Ceuta), invasive young men can jog to the first world rather than hazard a leaky boat.

Group of 500 migrants crosses Melilla border in biggest fence jump to date, El Pais, March 18

Around 500 sub-Saharan immigrants succeeded in jumping the border fence separating the Spanish exclave of Melilla from Moroccan territory early Tuesday morning.

The massive run on the fence took place around 8am near Nano river, several sources confirmed. This is the largest jump to date.

A high-ranking official at the Spanish Interior Ministry called the event “very worrisome” and said it underscored “the severe migratory pressure on both autonomous cities,” a reference to Ceuta and Melilla, Spain’s two exclaves in North Africa.

The undocumented migrants, who say they come from Mali and Senegal, immediately headed for the local temporary immigrant holding center (CETI) amid jubilant cries of “Bosa, bosa,” which witnesses said means “victory.” [. . .]

As a result of weakened resolve of Europeans plus the upheavals in the Middle East, the influx of demanding foreigners to the continent has reached a record level. What a surprise.

Asylum seekers in Europe reach two-decade high, Reuters, March 24, 2014

Nearly half a million people sought asylum in Europe last year, the most in two decades, with the largest number coming from Syrians fleeing civil war, the European Union said on Monday.

In total, 434,160 people sought refuge in the EU’s 28 member states in 2013, according to Eurostat, the EU statistics office. That was an increase of nearly 30 percent from the 335,000 requests in 2012.

The European Union rejected 65 percent of the requests and granted refugee status to 15 percent of the asylum seekers. The remaining 20 percent got at least temporary permission to stay in Europe. Rejected applicants had a right to appeal.

Some 50,000 applicants from Syria accounted for the largest number, nearly 12 percent of the total. More than 140,000 people have been killed in the three-year-old conflict, which has grown increasingly sectarian as regional powers back either President Bashar al-Assad, a member of the Shi’ite offshoot Alawite sect, or the mostly Sunni rebels. Africans Storm Border Fence to Enter Spain

Two small enclaves of Spain lie on the coast of Morocco and are a gateway to Europe for voracious African men anxious to reach the gravy train. Ceuta and Melilla, shown on the map, have increasingly been a magnet for Africans seeking free stuff in the European welfare states.

Spain has spent a lot of money to fortify the cities against the violent intruders, but they are insistent. Over 200 broke in on the night of February 28, a major assault numerically.

The invasion is another version of Camp of the Saints, only overland rather than using boats (an influx which is still happening through the southern Italy island of Lampedusa). Speaking of that prescient novel, its author, Jean Raspail, said in an interview last year that he felt that European civilization was being overwhelmed by millions of diverse foreigners who refuse to assimilate.

They keep coming, because culturally weakened Europe has no stomach to keep them out.

African migrants storm border into Spain’s Melilla, EuroNews, February 28, 2014

More than 200 African migrants have scaled the border fence into the Spanish enclave of Melilla.

It was the biggest assault on the border in more than eight years.

The migrants, many from Cameroon and Guinea, ran through the Melilla streets after making it onto European soil in the early hours of February 28.

They headed for the overcrowded migrant reception centre in celebratory mood.

The latest incursion at Melilla brings the number of migrants who have successfully scaled the fence to almost 600 so far this year.

The Spanish territories of Melilla and Ceuta in Northern Morocco provide the only land borders between Africa and the EU.

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has appealed for help from Europe to deal with illegal immigration.

He says Brussels should step up support for countries like Spain that have territory on the EU’s borders.
