His plan was cheered by other immigration critics, but some Hispanic backers and moderate Republicans felt it lacked compassion toward millions of people in the United States illegally.
Trump often points to examples of people hurt by illegal immigrants to defend his tough positions, which include building a wall at the border with Mexico, though some studies have found immigrants are less likely to commit serious crimes.

But Democrats have a different idea about law and borders: for their convention, illegal aliens are being showcased as honored guests rather than job-stealing welfare-abusing moochers.
Hillary & Co. are happy to shred American sovereignty and the safety of citizens in order pander to hispanics to the maximum degree. The US political system is based around responsible, engaged citizens but Democrats see the globalist borderless model as being more advantageous for them because many people on earth live under a big government and expect even more freebies from Washington.
Candidate Clinton chose the Spanish-speaking Senator Tim Kaine as her Vice President. He is also a big amnesty supporter and promised action in the first hundred days.
Immigrants routinely leave their socialist homelands for the better opportunities in the United States, but after their arrival they like politics working remake the US into a big government behemoth like the places they left. The foreigners don’t seem to grasp that the opportunity they sought arises from free markets being allowed to function.
Such people are perfect Democrat recruits. They want lots of free stuff and hope that somebody else will pay the taxes required.
As a result, Democrats are rolling out the red carpet for “our nation’s brave undocumented youth” and adults. One Bolivian illegal is serving on the credentials committee — who says Democrats don’t have a sense of the absurd?
The Democratic Party has selected a handful of undocumented immigrants for official roles at next week’s Democratic National Convention, in a bid to highlight the gaping policy divide on immigration between White House hopeful Hillary Clinton and Republican rival Donald Trump.
Clinton is hoping to drive Latino voters to the polls on Nov. 8 to shore up her chances against Trump, who has campaigned on a promise to crack down on illegal immigration by building a wall along the Mexican border and deporting millions of undocumented foreigners if elected.
“Our nation is a nation of immigrants that believes in being inclusive, and that’s exactly what we will continue to work toward,” said Leah Daughtry, the chief executive officer of the committee organizing the July 25-28 convention in Philadelphia.
“The voices of our nation’s brave undocumented youth will be heard loud and clear,” Daughtry added.
The picks include two members of the convention credentials and platform committees, as well as several speakers. The positions are unpaid, officials said.
Trump’s campaign, which has argued that unchecked immigration hurts American workers and undermines national security, criticized the move.
“Apparently speaking at Hillary Clinton’s convention is just one more job Hillary Clinton thinks Americans won’t do,” a Trump campaign aide said in an emailed statement. “She should have instead invited unemployed Americans, or victims of crime, or law enforcement.” Continue reading this article
Donald Trump has been clear in his campaign that the preventable crime by foreigners unlawfully in the county was an important issue for him. The GOP convention included the appearance of three parents whose children had been killed by illegal aliens who should have been deported. The victims were mentioned again in Trump’s acceptance speech when he said, “Of all my travels in this country, nothing has affected me more deeply than the time I have spent with the mothers and fathers who have lost their children to violence spilling across our border.”
One of the three parents, Sabine Durden, tweeted her appreciation for Donald Trump giving the crime victims a forum:

Below, the murder of Kate Steinle by a five-times-deported Mexican as she strolled with her father along a San Francisco pier was another reminder that illegal immigration is not a victimless crime.

As promised, the Republican convention welcomed crime victims of illegal aliens to tell their stories of preventable suffering, which reflects Donald Trump’s interest in a topic the liberal open borders media prefers to overlook. Three parents told the convention audience how their sons were killed by illegal aliens who should have been deported but weren’t.
Sabine Durden appeared on Fox News the following day to talk more about her son and how government lawlessness endangers all Americans.

He was on his way to work on his motorcycle to the 911 dispatch center and as he drove down the street, about two miles from the house, an illegal alien without a license without registration, without insurance, drove up the street and turned in front of him and hit him so hard that he threw him into a wall right there on the sidewalk. One of the things that convinces me of Donald Trump’s seriousness about making immigration legal again has been his attention to crime victims of illegal aliens. He has met with surviving family members, and now two parents — Jamiel Shaw and Sabine Durden — have been reported as being speakers at the Republican convention next week.
In April, Jamiel Shaw, standing at the podium, tells a Trump audience about the 2008 murder of his teenaged son who was shot and killed near his home by an exceptionally violent illegal alien gangster who nevertheless had been released onto Los Angeles streets instead of deported. Others on the stage are holding pictures of their relatives also killed by unlawful foreigners: one is Sabine Durden who is standing closest to Donald Trump.
Jamiel Shaw appeared on Fox News Sunday morning to discuss his upcoming talk in the convention:
Sabine Durden was interviewed by a local Los Angeles station earlier this week about her appearance at the convention to discuss the loss of her son at the hands of an illegal alien. She supports Donald Trump’s candidacy because of his law enforcement stance toward immigration.
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A Moreno Valley mother has been invited to speak Monday at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
Sabine Durden will speak about her son Dominic. “I’m going to travel to Cleveland, Ohio, and I get to share Dominic’s story again on a big platform,” she said.
The Moreno Valley mother talked with CBS2/KCAL9’s Rachel Kim via Skype from Arkansas on Friday night as she prepared for her big event.
Dominic Durden, 30, was a 911 dispatcher for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. In 2012 as he was on his way to work on his motorcycle, he was hit and killed by an undocumented immigrant, who Durden said was a convicted felon for offenses including DUIs.
“He got busted again while he was on probation again with a DUI, and they let him go again. Five weeks later, he killed Dominic,” Durden said. Continue reading this article
Two decent immigration enforcement bills were crushed by Democrats in the Senate Wednesday, revealing how far the party has gone down the road of open borders for political gain. Both bills required 60 voted to proceed to debate in the Senate, but Democrats batted them down with few dissenters: see the names here. One measure (S. 3100) would have blocked certain federal funding for sanctuary cities, which sounds like a no-brainer to anyone not a Democrat. The other was Kate’s Law (S. 2193), promoted by Bill O’Reilly and others, would have imposed a mandatory minimum 5-year prison sentence on repeat border crossers. That bill was named for Kate Steinle, a victim of an undeported illegal alien criminal who was protected by San Francisco’s stubborn sanctuary policy.
Kate Steinle (pictured below) was shot dead July 1 2015 as she strolled with her father on a popular San Francisco pier. The man who confessed to her killing is an illegal alien Mexican who was deported five times, but returned to the alien-friendly sanctuary city.
Unfortunately, this news may get lost in all the Comey testimony today about the Clinton emails.
It’s particularly shameful that Senator Feinstein voted against public safety, since she was once the mayor of San Francisco and her Pacific Heights mini-palace is only a couple miles from the pier where Kate was shot.
Senate Democrats launched filibusters Wednesday to protect sanctuary cities and to shield repeat illegal immigrants from mandatory minimum five-year prison sentences, saying Republican lawmakers were following the lead of Donald Trump in attacking immigrants.
The votes were taken slightly more than a year after the slaying of Kate Steinle, whose death at the hands of an illegal immigrant shielded by San Francisco’s sanctuary policy ignited a fierce debate over localities’ laws that limit or ban police from turning over immigrants to federal deportation officers.
Steinle’s death on July 1, 2015, drew attention to victims of illegal immigrant crime — a part of the debate that is often overlooked.
But Democrats said the Republicans’ solutions — stricter penalties on repeat illegal immigrants and punishing cities and counties for shielding illegal immigrants — were wrong.
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, said incarcerating illegal immigrants who repeatedly sneak into the U.S. after deportations would end up overcrowding prisons and cost Americans billions of dollars.
“Republicans are legislating Donald Trump’s vision that immigrants and Latinos are criminals and threats to the public,” Mr. Reid said.
He led Democrats in blocking the sanctuary bill, which fell seven votes shy of the 60 needed to override his filibuster, and the mandatory minimum bills, which fell five votes shy. Continue reading this article
Senator Jeff Sessions’ Immigration Subcommittee has published a study of persons convicted in terror crimes and the results are not promising for the safety of the nation. Despite the horror and deaths of 3000 inflicted on America on 9/11 by Middle Eastern foreigners, the government has learned little about protecting us in the intervening time, as shown by the fact that at least 380 of 580 convicted terrorists were foreign-born. Forty of those foreigners were refugees, which should be a warning about Obama’s project to admit 10,000 unscreenable Syrian refugees during this fiscal year. Why continue to import potential enemies who want to kill Americans? What kind of government does that?
Senator Sessions appeared with Sean Hannity on Wednesday to discuss the report:
SEAN HANNITY: Based on research conducted on a list of the Department of Justice, subcommittee on that you’re involved in — let’s see, at least 380 of the 580 individuals convicted of terrorism or terrorism-related offenses between September 11, 2001, and December 31st, 2014, they were 380 of 580 were born abroad.
SENATOR JEFF SESSIONS: Absolutely, and it’s really a lot more than that because we had to find that information from public sources and for large number we couldn’t. I’d say it’s probably pushing 75 percent of those involved in terrorist activities
HANNITY: Were they illegal immigrants or were some foreign born here on visas and we’re not vetting them properly?
SESSIONS: Right, they’re coming mostly, I would assume, on legal visas but they are immigrants themselves, so some are suggesting the second generation or homegrown terrorism is the biggest problem: that’s really not so according to the data.
HANNITY: When Donald Trump said that there’s rapes and murders by illegal immigrants — I sat through a security briefing with Governor Rick Perry and in an eight-year period they reported, his officials, people on the on the borders, they gave the number of 625,000 crimes committed by illegal immigrants against Texans alone, including rape and murder. So this is happening, what Trump said is true, is accurate,
SESSIONS: It’s absolutely accurate, it’s indisputable really. We have a responsibility to protect the United States of America from those who would attack us and destroy domestic stability and tranquility. We can do that. People don’t have a constitutional right to demand entry. We should screen those people. Those who are likely to be prosperous and flourish in America and be good citizens we should admit before we admit those who are likely to be dangerous.
HANNITY: Well the group FAIR did a study and what they found is from the Freedom of Information Act on their behalf that the 30,558 criminal aliens that ICE released in fiscal year 2014 — of the 30,000, 13,288 additional crimes were committed by illegal immigrants that just got out of jail. Why are we letting illegal immigrants that are in prison back out on the street?
Sean, the law requires if you’re convicted of an offense in the United States, you shall be deported. They should be deported anyway if they’re here illegally. So you first should be deported if you’re here illegally, and if you commit a crime that’s a high priority case. It’s not happening, even that Hillary Clinton has said Sean, that nobody in the country illegally should be deported unless they are a terrorist or commit a violent crime and that’s just open borders really.

WASHINGTON—Based on open-source research conducted on a list provided by the Department of Justice, the Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest has determined that at least 380 of the 580 individuals convicted of terrorism or terrorism-related offenses between September 11, 2001 and December 31, 2014, were born abroad.
On August 12, 2015, December 3, 2015, and January 11, 2016, letters were sent to the Departments of Justice, Homeland Security, and State, requesting the immigration histories of individuals implicated in terrorism since early 2014. For over 10 months, the Obama Administration has refused to provide this crucial and easily accessible information. Since sending the last letter on January 11, however, the Subcommittee has identified 18 additional individuals implicated in terrorism since early 2014 – bringing the total to 131, of whom at least 16 were initially admitted to the United States as refugees, and at least 17 of whom are the natural-born citizen children of immigrants.
However, the Department of Justice (DOJ) did provide the Subcommittee with a list it maintains of 580 individuals not only implicated, but convicted, of terrorism or terrorism-related offenses between September 11, 2001 and December 31, 2014. DOJ has deferred to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to provide immigration background information regarding these individuals, but to this day, DHS has not done so – despite having the information on the foreign-born easily accessible in its records and databases.
Using this list, the Subcommittee conducted open-source research and determined that at least 380 of the 580 were foreign-born (71 were confirmed natural-born, and the remaining 129 are not known). Of the 380 foreign-born, at least 24 were initially admitted to the United States as refugees, and at least 33 had overstayed their visas. Additionally, of those born abroad, at least 62 were from Pakistan, 28 were from Lebanon, 22 were Palestinian, 21 were from Somalia, 20 were from Yemen, 19 were from Iraq, 16 were from Jordan, 17 were from Egypt, and 10 were from Afghanistan. GOP candidate’s effort parallels Hillary Clinton’s outreach to mothers of African-Americans killed in gun violence
Republican presumptive nominee Donald Trump is giving a national platform to parents of victims of crimes by illegal immigrants, inviting them to rallies and telling their tragic stories to boost support for hard-line immigration policies.
The families help put a sympathetic face on Mr. Trump’s rhetoric branding Mexican immigrants as criminals and his plans to build a wall along the southern border and to deport millions of people who are here illegally. Those parents who are black and Hispanic also offer Mr. Trump political cover from allegations of racial and ethnic prejudice, most recently for accusing a Mexican-American judge of being biased against him.
Mr. Trump also is drawing intense media attention to what they see as public-safety issues caused by illegal immigration.
Sabine Durden told thousands of people at a Trump rally in Anaheim, Calif., two weeks ago about her 30-year-old son, Dominic, a sheriff’s dispatcher who was killed in a 2012 motorcycle accident by an illegal immigrant truck driver convicted twice of driving under the influence.
Choking back tears, she recalled: “I heard Donald Trump on the television as I walked by talking about illegal immigration and about the cost of American lives and I screamed. Donald Trump became my life savior that day, my hero… Wanting to control the border has nothing to do with racism but all to do with law and order.”
Online video of Mr. Trump kissing and signing posters of her son and other crime victims after the rally has been viewed more than 230,000 times.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Mr. Trump said meeting the parents of children killed by illegal immigrants “reinforced even more” his support for stringent immigration laws.
“Even I didn’t realize how bad it was,” he said. “When you see these families that have been destroyed by people who aren’t supposed to be here, who are criminals…The only way people can understand how severe this crisis is to see the families, and then they see the horror of it.” Continue reading this article
Mary Ann Mendoza has been a real trooper to keep her son’s memory alive, along with reminding the public of the preventable nature of the crime that killed him. Sergeant Brandon Mendoza of the Mesa AZ Police was on his way home from work when his car was hit head-on by a drunk illegal Mexican who had driven 35 miles the wrong way on the highway. The alien had been previously arrested for burglary and assaulting a policeman in Colorado, but was not deported. Mary Ann Mendoza was so angered at having her son’s life stolen that she wrote a letter to President Obama.
Mary Ann Mendoza appeared on Fox News on Saturday morning to discus Trump’s approach to the issue. She supports his strategy of taxing remittances — something I suggested in a 2002 op-ed (Relieve crisis on border with tax on remittances, Houston Chronicle, 12/3/02). Another program she backs is a fund to assist families who have lost a loved one to illegal alien crime, because now they get nothing and the lawbreakers get all sorts of help.
Of course, the best policy for illegal aliens is to keep them out in the first place.
TUCKER CARLSON: Mary Ann Mendoza’s son, police sergeant Brendan Mendoza was killed by an illegal immigrant in 2014, and she supports Donald Trump’s stance on immigration, but will the presumptive nominee change his position once he heads into the general election? So Donald Trump is under pressure from the left of course, but also from the establishment of his own party to stop talking about the border issue. MARY ANN MENDOZA: My view is that I believe that illegal immigration is at the core of a lot of the problems that the United States is facing today — overload on our health system, overload on our welfare system, the schools, and not to mention the illegal crime that happens on a daily basis. On Friday, President Obama remarked on his Facebook page that he would happily shred the Second Amendment by requiring all firearms have smart gun technology if it could save just one life:
OBAMA: Today, I want to update you on some important progress we’ve made to protect our communities from gun violence. As I said in January, these commonsense steps are not going to prevent every tragedy, but what if they prevented even one? We should be doing everything we can to save lives and spare families the pain and unimaginable loss too many Americans have endured.
If the President really cared about saving an American life or two, he might consider enforcing the border and immigration laws. Doing that would save many lives, not just one. Too many citizen lives have been lost to criminal illegal aliens because the government permits and arguably promotes the influx of dangerous foreigners.
Candidate Donald Trump has made a point of demonstrating the human cost of open borders by recognizing the crime victims of illegal aliens. For example, Laura Wilkerson was an opening speaker for a Trump rally in Orlando in early March. Wilkerson’s 18-year-old son Joshua had been tortured to death by an illegal alien. Trump also met with crime victim families in July and August during his campaign travels, remarking on the issue to the press.
On Thursday in Costa Mesa, California, Trump invited several victim families on stage with him, including Jamiel Shaw, the father of a son killed by an illegal alien gangster in 2008.
Jamiel Shaw mentioned that the illegal alien killer was “on his third gun charge” plus “assault with a deadly weapon, battery on a peace officer, resisting arrest.”
Seriously, killer Pedro Espinoza was a murder waiting to happen. He was violent while incarcerated so the authorities could see how dangerous he was first hand. He was a particularly violent character in jail where he acted as a gang enforcer. News reports say he was the aggressor in eight incidents while he was incarcerated, including attacks on other inmates. One officer testified at trial that Espinoza tried to fight him in the police interrogation room. Yet the alien was released onto Los Angeles streets where he shot young Jamiel Shaw III to death a day later.
An illegal alien criminal practically gets a license to practice in the US. Donald Trump is apparently the only presidential candidate who really understands the level of lawlessness that has been going on for years.
In addition, a Maryland sheriff made a convincing case that Obama’s disappearing enforcement has left the nation considerably more endangered by illegal alien criminals.
Sheriff Charles A. Jenkins of Frederick County warned that “Open border policies and failure to enforce our immigration laws have greatly impacted public safety in every community in America and cities are becoming war zones. Every single day, more Americans are becoming victims of avoidable crimes.”
Jenkins noted that his office has partnered with federal authorities on the 287(g) program since 2008 and it has been effective in identifying and removing illegal aliens criminals to better protect Americans in his jurisdiction. But clearly the extent of the administration’s border anarchy has made it hard for local law enforcement to keep up.
The sheriff further explained, “The criminal alien gang numbers are growing across the nation, and the serious crimes are increasing. There is also a direct nexus between the action on unaccompanied minors of two years ago and the increases we are seeing in gang crimes.”
What a surprise. Some were just pretending to be kids for all the easy freebies and others had existing gang affiliations. Plus there are no jobs for unskilled non-English-speaking kids (sometimes preliterate), making them perfect recruits for gangs. The care and feeding of Centrals was estimated to be in the billions of dollars, and that was without their being criminals. America is importing violent criminals and taxpayers are forced to pay for it.

We have seen crime victim families before, notably in America’s Senator Jeff Sessions’ thorough selection of testimonies last July (see my blog Senate Committee Hears from Families Whose Loved Ones Were Killed by Illegal Alien Criminals). However, the administration wants to import millions of additional Democrats, and a few dead Americans don’t seem to be a prohibitive price.
Chairman Trey Gowdy noted in his opening statement, “Surely we can all agree that protecting the public from violence and lawlessness is the pre-eminent function of government.” (If only the authorities followed that simple principle.)
Congressman Bob Goodlatte is Chair of the full Judiciary Committee and used his opening statement to review some facts about worsening illegal alien crime in America because of the administration’s permissive policies:
BOB GOODLATTE: I also want to express my deepest sympathy to the family members of Sarah Root and Joshua Wilkerson who were tragically killed by criminal aliens illegally present in the United States. Their mothers Michelle Root and Laura Wilkerson are here to share their stories under heartbreaking circumstances that no parent could be prepared for or should have to bear. Sarah Root was killed by an unlawful alien drunk driver less than three months ago. Only hours before her death she graduated from college with a 4.0 average and a degree in investigations. Tragically the Department of Homeland Security did not consider her killer an enforcement priority and did not issue a detainer for his arrest. As a result he posted a state bail bond and fled.
Joshua Wilkerson was tortured and murdered in 2010 by an alien who had overstayed his visa for eight years. The killer was arrested on a harassment charge only months before, but ICE did not seek to take custody. The district attorney who prosecuted the murder case couldn’t explain why ICE did not have an interest in him, despite the fact that ICE regularly reviewed the county jail roster,
Though these two young victims had unique life stories, their tragic deaths are linked by a common thread: they are two of the many innocent victims of the irresponsible policies of the Obama administration that promote the presence of dangerous criminal aliens in American communities. The American public has been misled by the enforcement priorities — deferred action and executive action — policies of this administration which categorize only certain quote unquote serious criminal aliens as worthy of immigration enforcement. However this administration’s actions demonstrate that it finds it acceptable to permit even serious criminal aliens to prey on our communities. The fact remains that illegal immigration has consequences. It is not a victimless crime, and for the families and friends of victims killed, maimed or otherwise hurt by aliens especially those who are illegally present, the consequences can be devastating.
