Univision – Limits to Growth https://www.limitstogrowth.org An iconoclastic view of immigration and culture Mon, 13 Aug 2018 01:05:49 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.5.3 Mark Steyn Observes Future Obsolescence of Immigration https://www.limitstogrowth.org/articles/2018/08/12/mark-steyn-observes-future-obsolescence-of-immigration/ Mon, 13 Aug 2018 01:05:49 +0000 https://www.limitstogrowth.org/?p=16872 On Thursday, Steyn hosted discussions on a varied selection of immigration topics as he sat in on the Fox News show Tucker Carlson Tonight, even demonstrating an understanding of the implications of the technological future.

He began by denouncing Vox.com for supporting the ultra-violent MS-13 gang by “portraying the gang as a bunch of cute teenagers who ride bikes, listen to music and work after-school jobs” when nothing could be further from the truth. He then interviewed the Suffolk Country District Attorney Timothy Sini whose Long Island community has been terrorized by the gang, suffering 17 homicides in 16 months over 2016-17.

Below, violent MS-13 gangsters were admitted in large numbers during Obama’s open borders welcome to Central American illegal aliens.

Steyn then remarked, “America remains in the grips of an immigration crisis in other aspects too, with one of the two major parties increasingly promoting policies indistinguishable from full-blown open borders. Any effort to enforce the country’s border invites accusations of racism even though Mexico is actually deporting more people who come from Honduras than the United States does.”

The next interview was Enrique Acevedo, an anchor at Mexico’s Univision network.

As an opening volley, Steyn queried, “Enrique, this is interesting to me that Mexico is allowed to deport Hondurans without being accused of being racist while the US is, and why does one country get to enforce its borders but another doesn’t?”

The conversation moved along to the big question about the intrinsic worth of immigration, i.e. whether it is beneficial or harmful:

ACEVEDO: We could have a larger debate on the benefits of immigration: I would ask you what is so wrong about immigration? How’s immigration hurting the US, or how is this different to other immigration throughout history?

STEYN: It’s predicted that 30 percent of the world’s jobs are going to going to be outmoded by automation and robots, so nobody needs, no developed nation needs mass immigration these days.

Perfect — Steyn gives the correct, 21st century answer, that automation makes immigration obsolete! It’s nice to see an informed remark on television about the technological future.

There’s more in the video, but the automation mention was definitely the high point.

Jorge [...]]]> Elections have consequences so they say, and open borders zealot Jorge Ramos is experiencing a big dose.

A recent Newsbusters post noted his unhappiness in the Trump Era. Apparently citizens now feel free to criticize the Univision star and his goal of Mexicans and hispanics generally overwhelming the US via legal and illegal immigration.

Jorge Ramos Says He’s Now Having the ‘Worst Time’ of His Life in U.S., Newsbusters.org, December 20, 2017

Nearly a year into the Trump presidency, Univision anchor Jorge Ramos says he’s experiencing “the worst moment I’ve had in the 34 years I’ve been living in the United States.”

“With Donald Trump there, I have never been treated so badly. I have never been insulted so much. We’ve never been attacked so much. They have never tried to run us out as much as now,” Ramos vented in an interview with the Spanish radio network Cadena SER. . .

“Now the social media networks are terrible,” Ramos told his Spanish radio interviewer, Javier del Pino. “Before if someone wanted to insult you, they had to do it in person or by sending you an anonymous letter. Now they do it through the social media networks and the daily insults – you can enter my Facebook or Twitter – and they are there all the time,” lamented Ramos.

In the interview, Ramos continues to contend that Trump “was speaking about me” “he insulted me” along with the entire immigrant community in the U.S. on June 16, 2015 when during his presidential campaign announcement speech Trump slammed the lax border security that had permitted criminal elements from Mexico and other countries to illegally enter the United States.

“Donald Trump was blaming all of us for being rapists, criminals and drug traffickers,” said Ramos of Trump. Throughout much of the interview, Ramos also recounts his infamous encounter with Trump during the summer of 2015, when he was kicked out of a Trump press conference for failing to wait for the candidate to call on him as a questioner, and was only allowed to return to the press conference after agreeing to wait his turn and be called upon by the candidate.

(Continues)

So Mr. Special Ramos was miffed in 2015 when candidate Donald Trump didn’t fawn over his Mexican diversity in a news conference and told him to wait his turn. Ramos continued to interrupt, and Trump had him ejected.

Ramos made clear his ideology of hispanic expansionism in a 2006 discussion with Bill Maher when he chirped happily, “Latinos are not only the largest minority right now, but eventually we will be the majority in the United States, and the process is well underway.”

And in February, Ramos declared in Spanish to a Spanish-speaking audience. “This is our country, not theirs” –“theirs” meaning American citizens who oppose unlimited immigration:

Jorge Ramos: America Is ‘Our Country, Not Theirs’—‘And We Are Not Going to Leave’, Breitbart.com, Feb 27, 2017

. . . “I am an immigrant, just like many of you,” Ramos said in Spanish, as translated by the Media Research Center. “I am a proud Latino immigrant here in the United States. My name is Jorge Ramos, and I work at Univision and at the Fusion network.”

“And you know exactly what is going on here in the United States. There are many people who do not want us to be here, and who want to create a wall in order to separate us,” he said.

“But you know what? This is also our country. Let me repeat this: Our country, not theirs. It is our country. And we are not going to leave.

Tucker Carlson grilled Ramos on those hostile, anti-American statements a couple weeks later:

So it’s understandable why the Univision reporter is unhappy with a pro-American president in the White House, and #JorgeRamos also doesn’t like getting smacked around on Twitter — tough for him but fun for us!

Senator Feinstein Speeds to the Rescue of Deportees https://www.limitstogrowth.org/articles/2017/08/13/senator-feinstein-speeds-to-the-rescue-of-deportees/ Sun, 13 Aug 2017 16:12:08 +0000 https://www.limitstogrowth.org/?p=15547 There’s nothing like a tearful sob story to get attention, even at the highest echelons of power. Feinstein criticizes Trump over deportation that splits Oakland family, San Francisco Chronicle, August 10, 2017

Sen. Dianne Feinstein called Thursday for the federal government to reverse the deportation of an Oakland nurse and her husband, saying their removal after more than two decades in the country revealed the “cruel and arbitrary nature” of President Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration.

Responding to a front-page Chronicle story about Maria Mendoza-Sanchez and Eusebio Sanchez — who plan to depart for Mexico on Tuesday with their 12-year-old son to start a new life, while leaving behind three older daughters who have legal status — Feinstein went to the family’s home for an afternoon meeting to discuss their plight. . .

On Friday, I reported on the case and its widespread news coverage in More Deportation Hooey: Trump the Family Splitter! But there’s lots more.

Even Mexico’s Univision network reported on the couple’s free trip home, with an espanol video of Senator Feinstein’s visit to their Oakland home and remarks: La senadora Dianne Feinstein visita a un matrimonio mexicano cuya deportación está programada para el martes.

Senator Feinstein visited the family and discussed the case with the press.

The California senator even had a supportive kiss for Maria Sanchez, the Mexican illegal alien!

Funny, I don’t recall seeing Senator Feinstein reach out to families of crime victims of illegal aliens, like Kate Steinle’s heartbroken parents or the remaining members of the Bologna family after three were murdered by a Mexican gangster. And all four of these victims of illegal aliens were killed in Feinstein’s home city of San Francisco where she was once mayor.

When speaking to the press at the Sanchez house, Feinstein remarked, “This is a mistake, this shouldn’t happen. I mean, go after the gang bangers, go after the criminals: leave the law-abiding good people who are adding to our economy, whose children are productive, they’re all going to school, they’re all going to give back to society.”

Does Feinstein not understand that illegal immigration is against the law and harms citizens whose jobs the aliens steal? She plans to introduce a private bill in the Senate to lift the deportation order.

Here’s a news report from ABC in San Francisco:

Feinstein even issued a press release to illustrate her concern. When was the last time she went to bat to protect an American??

Feinstein Statement on Pending Deportation of Sanchez Family, Aug 10, 2017

Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today released the following statement on the case of the Sanchez family as detailed in the San Francisco Chronicle:

“The cruel and arbitrary nature of President Trump’s immigration enforcement policies is captured in the heartbreaking story of the Sanchez family.

“Maria and Eusebio Sanchez have lived in this country for more than 20 years. They are hardworking parents raising four children, three citizens and one protected by DACA. They have no criminal records. They pay taxes, own their home and contribute to this country. These are the kind of people we should welcome into the United States with open arms.

“Instead, the family has been notified that they must leave the country by Tuesday.

“Tearing this family apart doesn’t make anyone safer, it only places incredible hardship on their three children who will remain behind, forced to navigate their lives without their parents.

“This case exemplifies that it’s nearly impossible for undocumented immigrants to get right with the law when they want to do so. The Sanchez family has tried for two decades to obtain legal status.

“The deportation of Maria and Eusebio would be a loss for the Oakland community. The equities of their case should be given full consideration so that this family has an opportunity to stay together.”
