[...]]]> A lot of political pundits remark about candidate Bernie Sanders that at least he’s the same Vermont socialist he has been for the last 30 years.

But that assessment is not true. Bernie has flipped over to the side of the deep-state globalists who think borders and national sovereignty are obsolete and need to go. He once supported American workers and understood that excessive immigration drove down wages.

No longer. He has succumbed to the open-borders insanity of the left including free healthcare and college for the invaders. Bernie has also embraced the scary-bad New Way Forward Act that threatens the basic law and order we all expect.

In 2015, he objected to open borders as “a Koch brothers proposal” but the senator is all the way there now.

Democrats used to be represent American working people, but dropped that allegiance when the party discovered that immigrants, particularly hispanics, were more dependable big-government voters than picky citizens.

Under Bernie’s generous plan, why wouldn’t a hundred million foreigners come? Or a billion? Unlimited free stuff from the most desirable nation on earth would be irresistible.

Not to mention the money-making opportunities in a wide open America for drug cartels and other criminal enterprises from abroad.

On Thursday Tucker Carlson examined Bernie’s embrace of extreme open borders:

However, Tucker did not speculate on why Bernie switched to the dark side.

TUCKER CARLSON: All of a sudden, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont is the frontrunner in the Democratic race. As of tonight, Sanders has by far the best chance in the whole Democratic Party of getting the nomination. So how should you feel about that?

Well if you’re conservative, it’s probably a little hard to take the whole thing seriously. For one thing it seemed to come out of nowhere — nobody expected it, nobody on TV warned you it was gonna happen.

For another thing, Sanders isn’t half as gut-level offensive as someone like say Elizabeth Warren. Unlike Warren, Sanders is obviously sincere about what he believes; he means it.

He’s got the right enemies too. CNN appears to hate Bernie Sanders every bit as much as they hate Donald Trump. That’s a plus, and unlike everyone else on the left Sanders talks mostly about economics rather than Putin and non-binary bathrooms. And it’s refreshing to hear someone focus on things that matter for once. Plus it’s not like Sanders is gonna win the presidency. You keep hearing people on both sides saying there is no possibility, no chance in the world that Bernie Sanders will get elected president in November, and that sounds right basically.

The guy calls himself a socialist — come on now, this is America. That’s what we’re telling ourselves, but are we absolutely sure that that’s true? But ask yourself this — who was the last candidate they told you on television could never ever win? — oh yeah, the current president. So ignore the people on TV. They’re morons, they lack wisdom, they lack imagination, they’re almost always wrong about everything.

Of course Bernie Sanders could win the general election. A year from now we could be in the first months of a Bernie Sanders administration, and this would be a completely different country. What kind of country would it be?

Well tonight we’re beginning a series on Bernie Sanders’ America. We take Sanders seriously; we think you should take him seriously too.

So we’re starting tonight with Sanders’ views on immigration. It’s a topic that affects this country on every level. For decades Sanders had what would now be considered conservative views on immigration: he cared about higher wages for workers — that was his issue.

Mass immigration lowers wages, so Sanders was against it. It’s that simple. Then Sanders ran for president and his views changed completely. Now Sanders is as radical on immigration as anyone else in the race.

For example, he’s come out against virtually all deportations — all. Watch:

SENATOR BERNIE SANDERS: A moratorium on deportations for the 99 percent of the people is nothing to be cynical about. I think that is a significant step forward, and the undocumented community would be very proud of that.

CARLSON: Ending 99 percent of deportations to please the undocumented community. You should know that that number includes violent felons. Sanders went on to say only if an illegal alien commits a quote terrible terrible crime — only then, Sanders quote might consider deporting that person — might.

Now Sanders wouldn’t have to change any laws to do this; he could simply order federal authorities to stop deportations. He could do that day one, and that’s his plan. Imagine what that would mean for this country — foreign nationals commit crimes, and we can’t send them home.

But Sanders wouldn’t stop there. He’s planning to unilaterally enact many pieces of the New Way Forward act — that’s the lunatic piece of legislation we’ve covered on the show extensively. It’s designed to protect criminal aliens — that’s the point of it.

Sanders has pledged to end the ban on deported criminals re-entering the United States. Why is that a good idea? He’s pledged to eliminate expedited removal — that’s the policy that allows obvious illegal aliens to be kicked out of the country swiftly. Over.

He’s promised to give discretion to immigration judges so they can protect any illegal aliens who somehow beat the odds and face actual deportation. Sanders has also vowed to end all workplace immigration raids so that big business will be able to rely on illegal immigrant labor with impunity.

That’s something he spent 30 years attacking — now he’s for it, and ending those immigration raids will be easy since Sanders is planning to abolish ICE.

SANDERS: On day one, through an executive order, we will repeal all of Trump’s racist immigration executive orders. We will end the ICE raids that are terrorizing communities all across America.

CARLSON: Of course businesses will have to import more of that illegal exploited labor that Sanders is suddenly for because Sanders is also promising an amnesty for all current illegal aliens in this country. That’s more than 22 million people.

Of course that’s a move that will change the electoral balance in this country permanently — forever — and that’s the real point, needless to say.

Bringing in new illegal workers won’t be difficult: Sanders plans to decriminalize the illegal border crossings and abolish the Border Patrol.

What is this? This is what radical open borders policy looks like. Sanders is arguing that everyone on earth has the effective right to come to this country anytime and receive the benefits of citizenship.

In the Sanders administration, those benefits would include but will not be limited to free college, free healthcare, and full eligibility for food stamps and welfare.

Now we’re not making this up for partisan reasons or to slam Bernie Sanders because suddenly it looks like he’s gonna become the nominee. This has been out there the whole time, no one’s mentioning it, but it’s all on tape. Sanders brags about all of it. Watch:

SANDERS: I believe that healthcare is a human right.

QUESTIONER: Senator, would you include the 11 million undocumented?

SANDERS: Absolutely. When I talk about healthcare being a human right — last time I heard that undocumented people are human beings as well. We need the best educated population in the world: that means we’re going to make our public colleges and universities tuition-free and open that to the undocumented as well.

CARLSON: So why isn’t anybody talking about this? People are jumping up and down on both sides on television because Sanders praised Fidel Castro, because Sanders is a self-described Democratic Socialist — that’s bad, there’s no doubt. But is it worse than what he believes on policy? It’s not even close.

You know what’s way worse than anything he’s ever said about Fidel Castro? His belief, his argument that anyone on the planet who sneaks into the United States should get free healthcare and free college tuition. That’s the case he’s making.

So here’s the obvious question — what would that do to our medical system and our universities? How long before they collapse? Not long.

These are some of the best things in our country, what we brag about — gone. How do we pay for all of this, by the way? And if it’s such a great idea, why is no other nation considering doing it? Why has no other nation ever done this?

Sanders has no answers for those questions, the most basic questions, and in fact becomes angry if you ask him. He clearly doesn’t care about the consequences of his plans.

Why? There’s really only one possible answer — because he doesn’t care about the United States or its future. It’s obvious that Sanders hates the country he seeks to lead; there’s no other explanation for it, and that is a very dangerous quality in a president.

The show will continue to bring you a series on what life would be like under a Bernie Sanders administration because there’s a lot there, and none of it’s gotten attention. It’s more than just praising Castro — trust us.

Justin Haskins of the Heartland Institute discussed the results of recent research, pointing out the insane generosity of 2020 Democrats when they offered free-to-them healthcare for illegal aliens.

Below, when a moderator requested of the Democrat candidates, “Raise your hand if your government plan would provide [medical] coverage for undocumented immigrants,” all responded affirmatively.

For more details about Heartland’s report, see Medicare for All: More Taxes, Worse Health Care, and Much More Debt.

Incidentally, numerous illegal aliens have already come to the United States to mooch healthcare from American taxpayers. One of the most obnoxious cases was the several liver transplants performed on illegal alien Ana Puente whose aunt brought her to the U.S. from Mexico to get medical care. Puente’s attitude was one of entitlement, revealed when she remarked, “It doesn’t matter if I’m undocumented. They should take care of me at UCLA for the rest of my life because I’ve been there since I was a baby.”

In 2006, the Denver Post reported, “Hundreds of Mexican illegal immigrants are in Colorado not just for work but also for free medical care they say they can’t get back home.”

So there’s already a pattern in place of illegal aliens crossing the border to steal free healthcare from the beleaguered American taxpayer. The Democrats want to take it to the globalist extreme to get future voters and turn America into a socialist hellhole forever.

TUCKER CARLSON: 2020 could be the first year that the Democratic Party nominates a self-described socialist for president. Even if they don’t, almost every Democratic candidate running right now has endorsed at least some socialist policies. What are these policies and maybe more important, how much would they cost and would they work? Is there any evidence they would?

Justin Haskins is editorial director and a research fellow at the Heartland Institute, and he joins us tonight to assess. So Justin, we want to take all policy ideas seriously. Clearly the people in charge have screwed up the country, so we’re open-minded always, but give us a sober analysis of some of the big policies these candidates are promoting. Would they make the country better?

JUSTIN HASKINS: No Tucker, unfortunately they would not make the country better: the vast majority of the policies being offered right now by the Democratic Party are going to be incredibly expensive. They have no way to pay for them, and the first one to talk about of course is Medicare for All.

A lot of people have heard that this is going to cost $32 trillion to $38 trillion dollars over the first 10 years, but what does it actually mean for middle-class people? They’re being told that they’re going to save thousands and thousands of dollars because they’re not going to have to pay expensive deductibles and co-pays and things like that, but here’s the truth: we just conducted a study at the Heartland Institute, and we found that middle-class Americans are going to get absolutely screwed by single-payer healthcare.

Forty million to 60 million American households are going to end up paying more in new federal taxes than they’re going to get back in healthcare benefits. People who make $75,000 to $100,000 a year are going to see their tax bills go up, we estimate by 12,000 to $15,000 per year. Those who earn $100,000 or more are going to see their tax bills go up on average by $20,000, and the more money you make, the worse it gets. So single-payer healthcare — there is absolutely no way to pay for that.

And that brings us to our second point: free healthcare for all illegal immigrants. This is one of the most ridiculous policies that has ever been proposed in American history. Here you have 11 million to 29 million illegal aliens here in the country right now, and that’s probably a conservative figure. Even if we assume we’re just going to pay out healthcare costs that match what we’re paying right now for Medicaid beneficiaries, we’re going to see costs goes up. Who’s going to pay for that?

CARLSON: May I stop you there? So you’re saying those costs will go up? Those are just the costs of paying for the healthcare of illegal aliens.

HASKINS: That’s right, and that’s just the start. I mean this is a big invitation to the world, to billions of people around the world — come here to America, we’re gonna pay for your healthcare. What’s to stop busloads or trainloads or planeloads of people with serious ailments from coming to the United States legally or illegally, and for us to be treating these people?

I mean this is this is total madness, and that’s why basically no other country in the entire world does something like that, so yes this is a crazy proposal from the left.

And the third big proposal is a federal jobs guarantee: now this might seem tame compared to the other things that we just talked about, but this is an incredibly dangerous proposal.

Not only is it going to be very expensive — four trillion to $44 trillion, according to the American Action Forum over a ten-year period, depending on how many people are in it. But in addition it’s going to indirectly give the federal government power over the entire labor market because if they’re offering people a living wage, anyone a living wage which could be $15, it could be $20, it could be $25 an hour it means whatever it means to the Democratic Party candidates.

If you’re offering that then how is a small business or a medium-sized business supposed to compete with the federal government? You’re going to have millions leaving their jobs in the private sector to go work for the federal government to earn $20 an hour and free health care and free paid family leave and all sorts of other things to take jobs that don’t necessarily need to exist. I mean this is crazy stuff.

CARLSON: It is crazy, and they’re all for it too.

Whatever happened to liberals with sensible ideas about the limits to growth on our little planet? They certainly are an endangered species today when the far left Democrats demand open borders to America even as the world edges toward eight billion residents — it’s crazy.

Can you recognize the liberal luminaries of the past and present pictured on the cover? From the top going clockwise they are: Edward O. Wilson, David Brower, Garrett Hardin, Gov. Richard Lamm, George F. Kennan, Sen. Eugene McCarthy, Sen. Gaylord Nelson, and Rep. Barbara Jordan.

My article begins with a somewhat nostalgic reminiscence of Latin American revolutionaries of earlier decades who chose to fight for their own countries rather than illegally immigrate to the US to steal jobs and benefits. Even commie dictators are worth our attention, since bad examples definitely have a place in today’s environment where college students are trained to believe in the socialist model — hey kids, how about an educational semester in Venezuela? Be sure to pack a lunch.

Liberal Policy Switches – From Latin American governance to environmental protection, the reversals are dizzying, By Brenda Walker, The Social Contract, Winter 2019

Is consistency a desirable trait in deeply felt values that form policy positions? You would think so, but the leftward political contingent appears to be unburdened by such moral steadiness, preferring instead the pursuit of power by any means necessary. A major example of inconstancy has been the immigration issue, where lefties once supported nation states around the world, but now side with the hated globalist corporations in pursuing a borderless planet. Go figure.

Confession: I’m beginning to miss Fidel Castro. He may have been a mass-murdering commie dictator, but he at least chose to fight for his own country rather than immigrating for the easy freebies in America. He had a reputation of being a decent baseball player with a wicked curveball, so he had a shot at an illustrious career among the evil capitalists. Harper’s magazine reported in 1989 that he had turned down an offer to play for the Giants. That claim has doubters in some quarters, but the Internet certainly has plenty of photos showing Fidel playing ball.

In contrast, the choice to stay and fight for one’s homeland is rarely made today. The earlier Latin American tradition of revolution against tyranny is just plain gone, with the modern ease of transportation and iPhones to make travel easier for illegal aliens. Are you a Latin American wishing for “a better life” immediately? Just hop a north-bound train or join a well-funded caravan to invade the United States to steal jobs, education, and welfare. Illegal immigration is the acceptable ticket to personal betterment in the modern twenty-first century — according to the left-bent mind at least.

It’s obvious that liberals are fine with that change. The idea of Hispanic national self-determination through political and revolutionary struggle has disappeared from public consciousness. And while liberals love to fling the “racism” charge against Americans who reject open borders, it is genuinely racist to believe brown people must be rescued from their own nations via immigration to the United States. The rescue fantasy is usually a flashing neon light of liberal virtue signaling. (Plus, the fact that most amnestied Hispanic illegals eventually vote Democrat may be a reason the D-party panders to them.)

It is not cruel to limit immigration to America. In fact, ending it entirely would have a positive effect on the Third World. If there were no comfy welfare state to which to immigrate, local people across the planet would get serious about building reform at home.

Looking at the recent past, it’s curious how strongly felt beliefs of left-wingers are so apt to change over time, sometimes doing a 180 to fit the political winds (or the preferences of funders).

A few decades back, leftist revolutionaries were the totally cool icons among Democrat elites in America, to whom Fidel Castro and other Latin insurgents were great heroes. The late Tom Wolfe described “Radical Chic” where wealthy New York liberals celebrated revolutionaries like the Black Panthers and Castro.

Radical chic has more recently expanded into “terrorist chic” among the open-borders left, because murderous jihadists might want to immigrate here and vote Democrat. Muslims with vague unscreenable backgrounds were certainly no problem for the Obama administration. In 2016, his administration announced it would admit 30 percent more refugees in the next year, with the target total being 110,000. The Obama White House brought in 10,000 Syrians in 2016 despite the obvious danger of admitting persons with no background files.

Times have definitely changed. Liberals once espoused the idea of homegrown reform where brown people took their destinies into their own hands through armed revolution and political activity.

And the struggle was real. In 1987, Foreign Affairs began an article titled “Revolution in Central America?” by noting: “On President Reagan’s first inauguration day [1980], revolution appeared to be spreading across Central America. The Sandinistas were consolidating their hold over Nicaragua and guerrillas in El Salvador and Guatemala were on the move.” (Continues)

Texas: Catholic Church Hands Out Fake IDs to Illegal Aliens https://www.limitstogrowth.org/articles/2018/05/05/texas-catholic-church-hands-out-fake-ids-to-illegal-aliens/ Sat, 05 May 2018 17:47:49 +0000 https://www.limitstogrowth.org/?p=16510 It’s bad enough that the anti-borders catholic church is distributing their own homemade identification cards to foreign job thieves; what’s worse is that Texas law enforcement is accepting them. It’s a terrible precedent; why wouldn’t school systems, sports teams or businesses issue their own IDs?

Here’s an example of the fake ID:

The cassock brigade apparently likes the card format for its disruption of American immigration law: in 2010, it helped the Mexican government hand out matricula cards to illegals in Ohio — a move that some concerned parishioners found objectionable.

Unfortunately, the catholic church hierarchy has long had delusions of sovereignty where it thinks it has some sort of governmental authority — and a globalist socialist one at that.

As priest Michael Seifert remarked in the Brownsville Herald a few years back, “Any family in economic need has a right to immigrate, that’s our posture, if a family is hungry and the family needs work, then society should provide a way for people to do that.”

Rather than peddling its evil open-borders agenda, the Vaticrats still have plenty of in-house corruption to fix. For example, a Google news search (which covers 30 days) for CATHOLIC CHURCH SEX ABUSE today May 5 brought up 138,000 results. Of course, the church’s lobbying for illegal aliens helps push memories of priest sex crimes out of the public mind.

A Pulse Opinion Research poll taken in March found a great disparity between religious leaders versus their congregations regarding immigration numbers and enforcement. One survey result: 68 percent percent of Catholic likely voters said annual legal immigration should be cut at least as much as would be cut by the leading U.S. House legislation (the “Goodlatte bill”). Only 20 percent of Catholics chose to keep annual immigration at a million or to increase it.

Here’s the latest catholic affront to law and sovereignty — and Texas sure has changed since I lived there:

North Texas Officers Accepting Church-Issued ID Cards, NBC Dallas-Fort Worth, May 4, 2018

Some undocumented immigrants living in North Texas are getting church-issued identification cards through a local partnership.

While they’re not official government-issued documents, some law enforcement agencies will recognize them.

The idea is to give immigrants here illegally the confidence to work with police, and to not be afraid of them. It’s a new campaign, but so far some participants are reporting success using the church-issued IDs during traffic stops.

According to Dallas Area Interfaith, thousands of applicants are waiting for the cards and several hundred have already been handed out.

Dallas, Carrollton and Farmers Branch police departments have agreed to take them in place of a state-issued ID, but only at the discretion of each officer.

DAI says it negotiated that deal last November after the state’s ban on sanctuary cities.

The group got the ball rolling with the Catholic Diocese of Dallas, but other faiths are expected to join the effort soon.

Bill O’Reilly made his strongest statement yet against unsustainable immigration, clearly explaining the left’s ideology and goal of destroying America through flooding the nation with foreigners. The borders are open, the enforcement system has been dismantled, criminal aliens are released from prison, the excessive numbers of new foreigners prohibit assimilation — all of which speeds the end of America, which is fine with the leftists, who believe that anything not perfect must be destroyed.

O’Reilly’s starting point for his remarks is a New York Times opinion piece (posted at the bottom of this blog) praising socialist Bernie Sanders’ immigration plan. Bernie’s most interesting quality is his unembarrassed honesty about the most extreme policies, and with immigration, his belief is if basic marxist redistribution is good, then global redistribution to the planet’s billions of poor is even better — and immigration is a good place to begin.

Here’s the text of O’Reilly’s Talking Points Memo:

The Left’s Secret Immigration Plan, By: Bill O’Reilly, December 1, 2015

In order to win the presidency in 2016 both the Republican and Democratic candidate will have to get a good amount of votes from Hispanic Americans.

On Thanksgiving the New York Times ran an editorial that pretty much laid out what the liberal viewpoint is on people coming to live in America.

Point number one: The left no longer distinguishes between illegal aliens and those who come here legally.

All foreign nationals who enter are now described by the Times and others as immigrants.

And if you use the term illegal alien, you are a bigot.

Point two: The left believes that any fence on the southern border is nativist bigotry that is a hateful action towards non-Americans, especially Hispanics.

Point number three: The left wants open borders, no restrictions on those who come here, no detention, no physical barrier, no deportation proceedings unless a serious crime other than illegal entry is committed.

And if you disagree with that you are a promoting an anti-immigrant police state.

Point four: The left says all immigrants — again illegal and legal — should be welcomed and assimilated.

And not only that, the government should give them money to settle in and they should be immediately eligible for all the entitlements Americans can secure.

Point five: All illegal aliens already here should be put on a pathway to citizenship.

The left wants full amnesty.

And finally point number six: The left wants free lawyers for all immigrants so they can gather up the entitlements and citizenship requirements.

At the end of the editorial in the New York Times, the paper asks is that so radical?

The answer of course is yes, open borders, full amnesty, complete entitlement access is indeed radical and dangerous to public order and safety.

But that is the vision of the Democratic Party.

Not everyone, but you will not hear many Democrats go up against that, as the Kate’s Law debate demonstrated.

Now many believe this is a pure political strategy, that flooding the nation with foreigners — many of whom will get the right to vote — strengthens the Democratic Party.

But there is much more in play.

The radical left immigration vision would profoundly change all of America’s traditions, all of them.

And that’s what the left wants because that ideology sees the American Judeo-Christian tradition as oppressive, exploitative and a white-privilege legacy.

Thus, the uber-left wants traditional America wiped off the face of the earth.

That’s what is truly going on and if Americans don’t wise up quickly, the left-wing vision of immigration may very well become a reality.

And that’s the memo.

Here’s the Times’ hosanna to open borders and the project of overwhelming the American nation with foreigners:

Bernie Sanders Gets Immigration Policy Right, By THE EDITORIAL BOARD, November 26, 2015

Senator Bernie Sanders released his immigration plan on Tuesday. To read it — and every citizen should — is to be yanked back in time, to an America that not so long ago was having a reasonable immigration discussion and a time when major reform had strong bipartisan support and a shot at becoming law.

But since the immigration reform bill was killed, in 2013, the party that killed it — the Republicans — has dragged the immigration debate to grotesque depths that go well beyond the usual nativist bigotry. Republican presidential candidates are arguing, in all seriousness, about sealing the border with fantastical 2,000-mile fences and weaponized drones; merging state, local and federal authorities and private prisons into one all-seeing immigration police state; forcibly registering American Muslims; mass-deporting 11 million Mexicans and others in a 21st century Trail of Tears; and turning away thousands of refugees fleeing war and terrorism in the Middle East.

Mr. Sanders, the Vermont senator seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, turns away from the insanity. His plan starts with the right premise: that immigrants should be welcomed and assimilated, not criminalized and exploited. His proposals seek to uphold American values, bolster the rule of law, bolster the economy and protect and honor families.

Recognizing Congress’s chronic inaction on immigration, Mr. Sanders promises to use executive authority well beyond what President Obama has done. He would protect young immigrants and their parents from deportation, and give “broad administrative relief” to young immigrants, to the parents of citizens and legal permanent residents and to others who would have been allowed to stay under the 2013 Senate bill. This affirms the humane and sensible principle behind that legislation — that 11 million unauthorized immigrants should stay and contribute, not be isolated and expelled.

The Sanders plan tackles an ugly truth — that racial profiling and the nation’s vast deportation and detention machinery have made suspected criminals of millions of people who don’t fit the definition. His promise to “decouple” federal immigration enforcement from local policing would be a sharp break from dragnet policies that expanded under President Obama. Mr. Sanders rightly defends “sanctuary city” policies that protect public safety by building trust between immigrant communities and local law enforcement.

Mr. Sanders’s promise to increase immigrants’ access to the justice system, with more funding for courts and lawyers, stands in sharp contrast to the Republican view of unauthorized immigrants as a shadow society of criminals who haven’t been deported yet. Mr. Sanders instead sees them as parents, breadwinners, taxpayers, bulwarks of the economy and of the communities they live in, aspiring Americans trapped by unjust laws and oppressive policing.

Is that so radical? It may sound that way, in today’s climate. But it is a vision that lawmakers of both parties once embraced without question. Ronald Reagan and both Presidents Bush spoke movingly of immigrants as assets to the country to be welcomed through assimilation and citizenship.

Mr. Sanders has done more than most of the other candidates to seed the campaign with good ideas. But he is still trailing Hillary Rodham Clinton, whose own immigration agenda delivers a similar list of worthy proposals, but with fewer specifics and less breadth than that of Mr. Sanders. We hope she is inspired to match his boldness.

In this bizarre campaign season, Republican candidates are playing reality-TV versions of themselves, filling the air with lies and irrational promises, while the Democrats — Mr. Sanders especially — are depicted by TV comics as cranks and loons. Mr. Sanders’s immigration plan is a powerful counterpoint to that stereotype. It is reality-based, moderate, practical and hopeful.
