The ideology has certainly gone over the edge when one of the nation’s most far left newspapers, the San Francisco Chronicle, criticizes the current expression of the belief. The occasion was a meeting of a parent committee that advises the city school board where it evaluated the diversity value of a gay man and found him deficient.

The article appeared on the front page of the February 14 edition of the Chron with the headline “To school board, gay dad isn’t diverse enough.”

The members of the committee — three white, three Latina, two black and one Tongan — discussed the issue for two hours of admitting gay dad Seth Brenzel (pictured) to their group. Interestingly, even though Brenzel was present for the entire meeting, he was talked about but never was invited to speak on his own behalf.

More than 200 readers of the Chronicle article commented, with many sounding unimpressed with the behavior of the board members.

The Chronicle article compared the meeting to the TV show Portlandia which portrays “liberalism gone to ludicrous extremes.”

Here’s a clip that shows how Diversity is a strong value in Portlandia:

A Daily Mail article about the school board issue reminded readers that the San Francisco education establishment voted last month to change the names of one-third of the city’s schools, including high schools named after George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The two presidents are now considered insufficiently virtuous according to modern woke standards.

Here’s the Chronicle article:

San Francisco’s school board is wasting time on ridiculous debates as students remain home, By Heather Knight, San Francisco Chronicle, February 13, 2021

A gay dad volunteers for one of eight open slots on a parent committee that advises the school board. All of the 10 current members are straight moms. Three are white. Three are Latina. Two are Black. One is Tongan. They all want the dad to join them.

The seven school board members talk for two hours about whether the dad brings enough diversity. Yes, he’d be the only man. And the only LGBTQ representative. But he’d be the fourth white person in a district where 15% of students are white.

The gay dad never utters a single word. The board members do not ask the dad a single question before declining to approve him for the committee. They say they’ll consider allowing him to volunteer if he comes back with a slate of more diverse candidates, ideally including an Arab parent, a Native American parent, a Vietnamese parent and a Chinese parent who doesn’t speak English.

Was this an episode of “Portlandia,” the TV satire about liberalism gone to ludicrous extremes? No, it was just another Tuesday night at the San Francisco Board of Education, a group that would provide great entertainment if the consequences weren’t so serious.

Parents teach their children to treat everyone fairly. To not be rude. To listen more than speak. To do research before forming opinions. To not waste other people’s time. To focus on what’s important. To acknowledge mistakes. It’s too bad school board members haven’t learned these lessons over the past dreadful year of distance learning for the more than 52,000 children in their charge.

“What’s wrong with these people? They’re committing political malpractice and educational malpractice seemingly at every meeting,” said Supervisor Rafael Mandelman, a gay man who represents the Castro and said he’s heard repeatedly about gay students in city schools facing bullying and discrimination. “But we don’t want someone queer with an actual seat at the table?”

The Alice B. Toklas LGBTQ Democratic Club on Friday slammed the board for its “misguided fumbling towards a goal of diversity.”

The person who was perhaps the most stunned was Seth Brenzel, the gay dad whose daughter is a fourth-grader at Glen Park Elementary. “At any moment, I expected a commissioner to address me,” he said, “because there I was.”

Knowing his face was beamed live across the city on Zoom, Brenzel kept a neutral expression as the board discussed his race, gender and sexual orientation — and whether they were a worthy mix for the Parent Advisory Council.

“I thought maybe somebody would ask me a question. Like, ‘Hey, Seth, why do you want to be a member of the PAC?’ Or, ‘Hey, Seth, can you tell me about your volunteering in the district?’” he said. “None of that happened.” (Continues)

Tucker Carlson Reviews California’s Legal Framework for Increased Crime https://www.limitstogrowth.org/articles/2019/12/04/tucker-carlson-reviews-californias-legal-framework-for-increased-crime/ Wed, 04 Dec 2019 20:02:45 +0000 https://www.limitstogrowth.org/?p=18379 It’s interesting to reflect how some on the left are actually pro-crime, from pooping on the sidewalks to substantial theft from stores. Arguably the best example is California’s Prop 47 which was sold to the voters as a public safety measure which would prevent time-wasting efforts of police on smaller crimes to focus on major offenses. That idea reveals the amnesia about “broken windows” policing policy, where minor crimes and criminals got attention before they spiraled into something worse.

These days, we see the result of Prop 47 with vastly worsened crime in California. One example is the preventable murder of Santa Maria resident Marilyn Pharis in 2015 by an illegal alien who had been arrested at least six times but was not deported because of the law.

Below, Marilyn Pharis was beaten with a hammer, sexually assaulted and murdered in her home by two men, one a Mexican illegal.

On Monday, Tucker Carlson reviewed the history of the law and its philosophy which he connects to the support of rich liberals who donated big to fund the dangerous proposition because of their feelings of guilt or desire for chaos as appears to be the case with George Soros.

Spare audio:

TUCKER CARLSON: In cities across this country, left-wing extremists are becoming, of all things, prosecutors. They’re getting elected on an agenda that favors criminals over decent people and undermines the rule of law.

How is this happening? Is there suddenly a national groundswell of support for crime and lawlessness? No. No, there’s not. Most Americans believe in order; they always have. What’s happening is an end-run around democracy. A small group of left-wing megadonors is drowning local elections with tidal waves of cash. As it turns out, that works, and it’s not very hard to do. We’ve already told you, in some detail, about how Hungarian-born billionaire, George Soros got a pro-crime radical, called Larry Krasner, elected district attorney in Philadelphia. Violence in that city immediately, and predictably, went up.

That’s what happens when you stop enforcing the law: people die. And, in Philadelphia, they have. By any measure, the Larry Krasner experiment has been an ugly disaster and, yet — and this tells you everything about where we are right now — many progressives see Philadelphia and what Krasner has done there as a model for the rest of the country. They’d like to bring it to your town and they’re trying to do that.

Last month, a longtime left-wing activist called Chesa Boudin was elected DA in San Francisco. Boudin ran on the promise to make an already filthy and disorderly city even dirtier and more chaotic. He pledged to effectively legalize prostitution, public urination, and living on the sidewalk. He dismissed the prosecution of criminal gang members as, quote, “explicitly racist,” though he didn’t explain how. He promised to do away with cash bail entirely. Just in case anyone missed the point of all of this, supporters at Boudin’s election party chanted, “F the police.” Even in America’s most flamboyantly liberal city, this was too much for a lot of people. When you tear down the justice system, only the criminals thrive. Everyone knows that. Yet, in the end, Chesa Boudin was elected anyway, if only by a narrow margin.

How’d he do that? Well, with the committed backing of Silicon Valley’s ruling class. Boudin won the support of people like Kaitlyn Krieger. She’s the wife of Instagram’s co-founder. Krieger, who is a living parody of a silly, out-of-touch rich lady, gave Boudin $27,000. Now, it’s hard to imagine Krieger would have done that if there was a possibility she might have to live with the consequences of it. But, of course, there was never any chance of that. Krieger is a billionaire. She can live behind gates protected by her own police force, if she wants, and maybe she does.

The same is true for people like Elizabeth Simons, the daughter of hedge fund billionaire, James Simons. Simons gave Chesa Boudin $25,000. If you sense a trend here, that’s because there is a trend here. Scratch the surface and you’ll find that the destruction of California has been paid for by the very rich, the guilt-wracked heirs of inherited fortunes have guilt-racked heirs of inherited fortunes have long been a major force in left-wing politics, of course. The more they despise themselves, the more left wing they tend to be. What’s new is the burgeoning coastal billionaire class.

Now, people who amass fortunes incrementally over time through hard work and innovation typically have conservative political instincts. But people who’ve made huge piles of quick cash in finance or technology usually do not. People like that understand they’ve hit the lottery. They can’t say that out loud, of course. They have to pretend that they earned it all fair and square, really.

But deep down, they know that’s a crock. They’re winners in an awful scam. They know that and they feel bad about it. So, to salve their consciences, they fund radical causes designed to destroy the very society that made them rich — sending money to Chesa Boudin is the equivalent of paying a secular indulgence. You pay the price in the end.

This is how California got Proposition 47 passed in 2014. Prop 47 downgraded a long list of felonies to misdemeanors, including any theft of under $950. Since it became law, crime has surged in California. On the Bay Area Rapid Transit system, for example, violent crime has more than doubled. Murders, assaults, robberies and rapes have jumped by 115 percent.

The city of San Francisco, meanwhile, now has more property crime than any place its size in this country. Why? Well, because criminals understand the rules. They know they can’t be punished. Authorities in Sacramento say that members of shoplifting rings bring calculators into stores to make sure their thefts come in under $950. The law allows them to steal with impunity.

It’s grotesque, and it’s incredibly destructive. How did it happen? You know the answer. The moneyed left bought the election.

George Soros put in almost $2 million behind Proposition 47.

B. Wayne Hughes Junior, son of a billionaire storage tycoon, gave another $1.2 million. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings chipped in a quarter million, as did venture capitalist Nick Pritzker. Former Facebook president Sean Parker gave $100,000 to the effort. Cari Tuna, wife of Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz, gave $150,000.

Moskovitz went to Harvard with Mark Zuckerberg, a fact that allowed him to become a billionaire while still in his 20s. Moskovitz and his wife are now reportedly worth more than $12 billion. Now, if that sounds like a lot, possibly even an obscene amount for a 35-year-old who’s never really done anything, Moskovitz agrees with you or pretends to agree, anyway.

“Cari and I are stewards of this capital,” he told Business Insider a few years ago. “It’s pooled up right around us now, but it belongs to the world.” Of course, just because all that money belongs to the world doesn’t mean the world gets to decide how it is spent. Dustin and Cari Moskovitz make that call. Like so many in our ruling class, they could care less about what happens to ordinary people in the normal parts of America.

Thanks to the projects they fund, the country’s streets are dirtier and more dangerous. But within the gated tranquility of their world, the Moskovitzes feel like incredibly good people — empathetic, virtuous, enlightened people. And that’s what matters. In fact, it’s all that matters.

Now we see the Democrat allegiance extend toward persons ordered by the court system to be deported, even though some are criminals and gangsters. Protecting public safety used to be a bipartisan value of public officials, but that has gone by the wayside in the left’s rush toward globalist lawlessness.

One example has been Nancy Pelosi, the San Francisco Democrat who as Speaker of the House has been leading the pack in fighting lawful deportations of foreigners who have exhausted all their options in the American legal system. Some have criminal convictions.

During Pelosi’s weekly press conference on July 11 (transcript), she encouraged aliens to refuse to open the door to federal officers who are there to enforce the law.

Families belong together.  Every person in America has rights.  These families are hardworking Members of our communities and our country.  This brutal action will terrorize children and tear families apart.

At the events that I’ve been going to, recently in Queens and other places – but the Queens one was specifically geared to the Census, and then the raids emerged as part of that discussion – I read them this card:  An ICE deportation warrant is not the same as a search warrant.  If that is the only document ICE brings to a home raid, agents do not have the legal right to enter a home.  If ICE agents don’t have a warrant signed by a judge, a person may refuse to open the door and let them in.  An administrative order of removal from ICE or immigration authorities is simply not enough.

Families belong together.  Everyone in our country has rights.  Many of these families are mixed-status families.  We hope the President – we pray that the President will think about this, I would say ‘again.’  Hopefully it’s ‘again.’

In the same presser, Pelosi called President Trump “heartless” for enforcing the law, even though The Hill recently headlined, Trump deporting immigrants at slower pace than Obama: report. The sainted Obama and hated Trump certainly get scored differently by Democrats and their assistants in the press.

All this immigration lawlessness comes with a human cost. Kate Steinle was shot dead in Speaker Pelosi’s district as the young woman strolled with her father on a popular San Francisco pier in 2015.

The illegal alien shooter Francisco Sanchez had been deported several times but said in a jailhouse interview that he returned repeatedly to San Francisco because it was a sanctuary city where he would not be pursued by immigration officials.

Three members of the Bologna family (shown below) were murdered by an illegal alien gangster in 2008, also due to San Francisco’s permissive immigration enforcement.

Yet even with all this blood on her hands, Speaker Pelosi is campaigning for more immigration lawlessness.

Billion-dollar companies see autonomous vehicles as the future of transportation and they don’t want to be left behind.

Two major automakers have recently announced their intention to launch automated taxi services in California. That’s a smart move for a couple reasons, one being a smaller scale arena to work the kinks out.

Another topic that must concern the auto companies is the public’s apprehension about having a machine operating the car. A January Reuter/Ipsos poll found that two-thirds of Americans are uncomfortable about the idea of riding in a self-driving car. A Gallup survey released in February determined that 54 percent of Americans said they are unlikely to utilize self-driving cars.

So a gradual introduction of self-driving technology via taxis would make sense along with a marketing program of advertising and social media. For example, Intel ran an ad last fall showing basketball star Lebron James overcoming his aversion toward a driverless car. Online coupons for a cheaper ride would entice some. Local news stories about the new taxis will likely be promoted when they get going.

Of course, the proponents of the new automation technology rarely mention the associated job loss, as the less expensive machines replace pricey humans who also need lunch breaks and healthcare. A Bureau of Labor Statistics page for Taxi Drivers, Ride-Hailing Drivers, and Chauffeurs put the number of workers at 305,100 for 2016. In addition, there are millions of Americans who work as drivers: in 2015, the Department of Commerce reported that there were 3.8 million motor vehicle operators:

Interestingly, a 2013 paper from CIS.org noted that 42 percent of taxi drivers and chauffeurs are foreign born, so continuing to import low-skilled immigrants appears unwise, to say the least. For example, the Central Americans now mobbing the border and making fake asylum claims don’t bring any useful skills. Low-skilled jobs that Centrals could do — like restaurant work and agriculture — are the ones most likely to get robot replacements in the near future if they haven’t been transformed already.

Okay, back to robo-taxis coming to California; tech-friendly San Francisco is getting a General Motors installation:

GM puts pieces in place for self-driving taxis in San Francisco Los Angeles Times, July 3, 2018

General Motors Co. has created its own ride-hailing platform and quietly built one of the largest charging stations in the United States to get its Cruise self-driving car unit ready to enter the robo-taxi business next year.

Cruise has installed 18 fast chargers in a parking facility near San Francisco’s Embarcadero, the well-trafficked boulevard along the city’s eastern shoreline where Uber Technologies Inc. and Lyft Inc. have busy drivers. And GM’s self-driving car unit has been testing its own Cruise Anywhere ride-hailing app and fleet-management system, said people familiar with the matter.

The largest U.S. automaker has long planned to start a ride-hailing business using self-driving cars by 2019, but it hasn’t said where the service would start or whether it would work with a partner. These latest moves show that San Francisco is where GM is assembling the pieces to launch its rival to Alphabet Inc.’s Waymo next year if GM decides against working with an established livery app such as Uber or Lyft. Meanwhile, Daimler is eyeballing wealthy Silicon Valley for a rollout of deluxe Mercedes shuttles.

Mercedes Will Launch Self-Driving Taxis in California Next Year, Wired, July 10, 2018

LIKE IN A Tough Mudder, you’ve got a few strategies when it comes to the race to launch a taxi-like service with autonomous vehicles. You can start early and keep a slow but steady pace. You can show up a bit late, then try to sprint through it. Or you can hold back, see what trips up other contenders, and then slowly work your way through the obstacles.

The big automakers tend to fall into the third category. They may have taken a few years to recognize that shared autonomous vehicles could annihilate their business model—selling human-driven cars to individual humans—but they’re now making real progress toward the finish line. And today, Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler took a cautious step into the swamp stomp, announcing plans to launch a self-driving car pilot somewhere in Silicon Valley, next year.

Daimler is calling its service an “automated shuttle,” but it’s not referring to some blobby, slow-moving van. It’s going to start out using a fleet of S-Class luxury sedans and B-Class hatchbacks, with long-term plans for vehicles designed for autonomous driving, like the F 015 “Luxury in Motion” concept it showed off a few years back.

The automaker is still negotiating the particulars of the deal, has not divulged which city will host this program, and being cagey on details like how many cars will make up the robo-fleet. It does plan to have human safety drivers on board to keep an eye on the system. Passengers, who will request rides via an app, will travel for free. The Germans are more open about the lessons they’ve learned watching the self-driving car industry start to take shape, including the myriad complexities of the challenge. “Hardly any company can meet this challenge alone,” says Uwe Keller, Daimler’s head of autonomous driving. It’s really amazing — in a bad way — how liberal government has turned America’s most beautiful city into a disgusting public pit of filth, excrement, psychotic homeless and drugs.

Tuesday’s front page of the San Francisco Chronicle had the rather mild photo below with a story headlined Clean up S.F.’s streets, tourist industry pleads.

Tucker Carlson has reported the degradation of San Francisco with far worse photos.

Carlson similarly believes that liberalism is at fault for the chaos in the streets.

San Francisco is uniquely challenged by limited geography for housing (water on three sides), a recent influx of well heeled tech workers pushing up housing prices, and a remarkably corrupt government that allows illegal aliens and homeless people to run wild. Plus California’s high population of illegal aliens also adds to the number of homeless.

As a result of liberal policies allowing anarchy to bloom, the city’s tourist vital industry may well shrivel up and disappear. A travel-booster website noted In 2015 that visitors directly spent $8.5 billion in the city. So why is the city so stubbornly blind to a problem that is destroying a major sector of its economy? It has spent big money in addressing homelessness ($275 million in a recent fiscal year), but has been unwilling to mount serious enforcement against homeless encampments that might do the trick.

Clean up San Francisco’s streets, tourist industry pleads, San Francisco Chronicle, April 17, 2018

As president of S.F. Travel, the city’s visitors bureau, Joe D’Alessandro’s job is to promote San Francisco. You’d think he’d be hyping the city’s gorgeous vistas, top-notch restaurants and glorious museums.

Instead, he’s getting honest.

Sure, San Francisco has great facets worthy of postcards and travel books, but it also has a worsening underbelly that D’Alessandro says he can no longer gloss over.

People injecting themselves with drugs in broad daylight, their dirty needles and other garbage strewn on the sidewalks. Tent camps. Human feces. The threatening behavior of some people who appear either mentally ill or high. Petty theft.

“The streets are filthy. There’s trash everywhere. It’s disgusting,” D’Alessandro said, adding he’s traveled the world, and San Francisco stands out for the wrong reasons. “I’ve never seen any other city like this — the homelessness, dirty streets, drug use on the streets, smash-and-grabs.

“How can it be?” he continued. “How can it have gotten to this point?”

Remember, this is the man whose job is to glorify San Francisco, which tells you something about how far the city has sunk.

“We can’t be quiet anymore,” D’Alessandro said. “We’ve got such a glorious history, such a beautiful setting, and the fact is, we’re letting it all slip away into this quality of life now that is not good for anybody. We’ve become complacent, and I think we’ve taken this as a kind of new normal, and it’s not. It’s wrong, and we have to do something about it.”

He said so many visitors are sending complaints to him about their experiences in San Francisco, he’s got to speak up. He joins a growing chorus of people whose jobs make them dubious about telling a columnist their real opinions of San Francisco, but who say they have to because working behind the scenes isn’t moving the needle. Well, so to speak.

If foreigners stayed put in their home countries the families would be together — problem solved! Stay home and fix your own country: America is sick of being the flophouse for illegal alien job thieves.

If you break the law, you can expect to be arrested under President Trump.

Protesters Surround San Francisco Ice Offices Over Raids, CBS News, February 28, 2018

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – Demonstrators blocked streets outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in San Francisco Wednesday afternoon to protest recent ICE raids.

Hundreds of people blocked Sansome Street between Washington and Jackson in the city’s Financial District, calling for the end of immigration-related arrests.

One group of protesters gathered outside the entrance to the building on Sansome. Another group blocked the intersection of Jackson and Sansome, surrounding a message chalked onto the pavement which read “Bay Area United Against ICE! Keep Families Together.”

At least 150 undocumented immigrants throughout Northern California have been arrested in the raids, which began taking place on Sunday.

Jose Zarate was sentenced on Friday to time served for that crime. However, he is being moved to federal custody where he will face additional charges.

Below, five-times deported illegal alien Mexican Jose Ines Garcia Zarate (left) shot and killed Kate Steinle as she strolled on a San Francisco pier with her father, but the killer was found not guilty in her death.

On Friday, Zarate’s attorney Matt Gonzalez discussed why he believed the federal prosecution was “vindictive” with Martha MacCallum on Fox News. He thought the killer’s immigration status was meaningless and did not grasp that Kate Steinle would still be alive if Zarate had been deported rather than released by the sanctuary city San Francisco.

Lawyer Matt Gonzalez comforts his client, the admitted killer of Kate Steinle.

Most people outside California may be unaware that Matt Gonzalez is not an ordinary public defender. On the contrary, he has a long history of far left activism and has been quite a fixture in San Francisco politics. He was a member of the San Francisco County Board of Supervisors starting in 2000 and was president of the Board. He ran as the Green Party candidate for mayor of the city in 2003 but lost to Democrat Gavin Newsom. When Ralph Nader ran for president in 2008, Gonzalez was his vice presidential candidate. He was appointed to be the chief attorney in the Public Defender’s Office in 2011.

So it’s likely that Gonzalez will parlay the publicity he got in this trial into another political effort. He will certainly be seen as the hero of the sanctuary movement and a defender of illegal alien criminals against the hated Trump and others who believe in law and sovereignty. Who knows how far Gonzalez may go with such credentials?

Killer Roberto Gallo struck Drew on his motorcycle and ran over his body several times. The charge was initially vehicular homicide, but was reduced to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. Time served by the killer was only 43 days and it took two years to get him deported back to Honduras.

Below, Don holds a picture of his late son, who was only 25 when he was killed by an illegal alien.

So it’s not surprising that Rosenberg was infuriated by California Governor Jerry Brown’s signing of a bill declaring the entire state to be a sanctuary zone, at least partly to insult President Trump’s tough immigration enforcement.

Rosenberg appeared on Fox News on Wednesday to discuss the unlawful sanctuary state designation and how he intends to fight it, namely with an initiative to be put before California voters.

Sanctuary is a policy against public safety which is supposed to be government’s top job — although Democrats don’t value it. To that point, Rosenberg observed, “In 2016, there were over 52,000 illegal aliens in prison, and collectively they committed about 400,000 crimes, not all in 2016, That’s a major, major problem, and they need to do something about it.”

You can check out Rosenberg’s initiative at FightSanctuaryState.com, although a citizen shouldn’t have to go to such lengths to make a state obey federal law — that’s Washington’s job. Where is Attorney General Jeff Sessions on this? The Sanctuary State bill was signed into law October 5, so it’s not like the AG hasn’t had time to prepare — where’s the pushback??

We need serious federal law enforcement in California where public safety has been greatly reduced because of illegals allowed to run wild and the crime magnet that sanctuary creates.

The killer then poured bleach over the bodies and flooded the house by turning on faucets and detaching pipes under sinks to hide his identity.

Vietnamese citizen Binh Thai Luc, shown below, was arrested a couple days later.

The case is of interest for important policy reasons: Luc was convicted for armed robbery in 1998 but was not deported for his earlier crimes because Vietnam refused to take him back. Unfortunately the problem remains to this day because Washington is not willing to lean hard enough on those nations that will not receive their citizens. The Trump administration has taken steps, but it hasn’t really been the big stomp that’s needed — see 4 countries sanctioned because of refusal to accept deported immigrants, Washington Times, August 23, 2017.

In 2011, Representative Ted Poe submitted a bill that would deny diplomatic visas to nations that won’t receive their criminal aliens. At that time, ICE admitted it had freed more than 8,500 detainees convicted of murder, rape, and other crimes over four years.

The congressman’s strategy might work, because diplomats apparently like getting out of their dirtbag countries to enjoy the decent restaurants and other pleasantries of the first world.

Poe continued to pursue his proposed solution in the House, noting in 2015, “We give convicted foreign criminals a get-out-of-jail-free card to live in the United States because we cannot permanently detain them and their countries of origin refuse to take them back. This is a dangerous and deadly Achilles heel in our immigration system.”

I was therefore sorry to see Ted Poe’s announcement of his retirement last month, because the former judge’s tough line on deporting illegal alien criminals will be missed as long as America is filled with foreign felons.

Back to today’s case, it was a relief to see a Guilty verdict come from a San Francisco jury, although it took long enough.

Plumber found guilty in slaughter of San Francisco family, San Francisco Chronicle, December 11, 2017

A 41-year-old San Francisco plumber who was on a losing streak at local casinos and faced eviction for not paying his rent was found guilty Monday of slaughtering a family of five inside their Ingleside neighborhood home after targeting them for robbery.

On its seventh day of deliberations, the San Francisco Superior Court jury found Binh Thai Luc, an undocumented Vietnamese immigrant with a violent criminal past, guilty of five counts of murder in the massacre of the Lei family on March 23, 2012.

The victims’ bludgeoned bodies were found covered in blood and household cleaning products in various rooms of the row house on Howth Street, which had been flooded with water. The damage was so severe and the scene so chaotic that investigators didn’t initially know if they were dealing with a quintuple murder or a murder-suicide.

Prosecutors said Luc used a hammer to commit one of the worst mass homicides in modern San Francisco history, though the weapon was never found. The defendant was also found guilty of five counts of attempted robbery and two counts of burglary.

Because Luc was convicted of murder with special circumstances — in this case, lying in wait and committing multiple killings — he faces life in prison without the possibility of parole. The charges made him eligible for the death penalty, but the district attorney’s office did not pursue that punishment. Judge Carol Yaggy will set a sentencing date Tuesday.

“This was a very gruesome, brutal murder, and we’re pleased we’re getting some accountability for the family and for the community,” District Attorney George Gascón said.

San Francisco officialdom recently had amnesia about the city’s history of citizen deaths caused by illegal aliens: Kate Steinle was shot dead by a Mexican while strolling with her dad along a popular pier, and the important suits pretended to be shocked and amazed for the cameras about the danger of their sanctuary city.

But those with any memory (or honesty) recalls the triple murder of the Bologna family in 2008 by an illegal alien thug who was not deported despite having a criminal record in San Francisco. The shooter, Salvadoran Edwin Ramos was clearly a dangerous character, a known gang member who had earlier been arrested for assaulting a passenger on a bus and attempting a robbery of a pregnant woman, yet he was not deported because San Francisco shielded him.

All of these violent deaths were preventable crimes had San Francisco co-operated with the feds on immigration enforcement, but the liberals running the city think they know better.

Below, Tony Bologna and his two sons were shot to death by an MS-13 gangster a short distance from their home in San Francisco as they returned from a family picnic.

The San Francisco Chronicle poked some memories on Sunday, when a front-page story reminded readers of the Bologna deaths. The writer, Vivian Ho, is a court reporter with experience with murder cases. She appeared numerous times on LA’s John and Ken Show to discuss the case with the radio hosts who have a strong interest in immigration enforcement.

Kate Steinle case: After crimes by immigrants, families see pain politicized, By Vivian Ho, San Francisco Chronicle, December 9, 2017

Before the Steinles, there were the Bolognas. On a cool summer day in 2008, the San Francisco family was torn apart by a senseless act that thrust the city and its immigration policies into the national spotlight.

A little more than seven years before Kate Steinle was fatally shot on Pier 14, Danielle Bologna lost her husband and two of her sons in a mistaken-identity gang hit by an MS-13 member who had been shielded from deportation twice by city juvenile justice officials relying on San Francisco’s sanctuary laws.

The cases ended differently, with the MS-13 killer sent to prison for life and the homeless undocumented immigrant accused of shooting Steinle acquitted Nov. 30 of murder and manslaughter charges after saying he had fired accidentally.

But both families had to deal with an aftermath in which the tragedies stopped being solely their own, in which their pain became a talking point in the tempestuous debate over U.S. immigration, in which they had a loud voice but in a conversation they couldn’t control.

“I felt like my family was just nothing,” Bologna, 57, told The Chronicle in a recent interview. “No one even really cared, though they liked to blame each other for this or that. And I was just left trying to make the best for my two surviving children.”
