Naturally, the Post is shocked that liberal Holland would reject open borders and Muslim diversity. It regards any deviation from the one-worlder doctrine to be “far right.” The paper observes, “the Netherlands has been relatively insulated from mass immigration” — but that’s only in comparison with neighbors like France that have turned into armed camps to keep their streets safe.
The article was clearly written before violent protests broke out among Turkish residents who were angered at the Netherlands blocking the Turkish foreign minister from visiting. The official intended to promote homeland politics among dual citizens to increase voter interest in an upcoming referendum that would give more power to President Erdogan. Dutch riot police used batons and water cannons to break up the thousands of Turks who had responded to social media calls for them to complain at their embassy in Rotterdam about the alleged insult. Erdogan called the Dutch “Nazi remnants” over the affront, so the situation is a diplomatic stinker.
The chaotic scene did not reflect well upon diverse immigration a few days before the Dutch election. The mess won’t hurt the candidacy of Geert Wilders, who fired off a strong message to Turkish citizens, telling them to forget about EU membership and an open border to the continent:

AMSTERDAM — Xandra Lammers lives on an island in Amsterdam, the back door of her modern and spacious four-bedroom house opening onto a graceful canal where ducks, swans and canoes glide by.
The translation business she and her husband run from their home is thriving. The neighborhood is booming, with luxury homes going up as fast as workers can build them, a quietly efficient tramway to speed residents to work in the world-renowned city center, and parks, bike paths, art galleries, beaches and cafes all within a short amble.
By outward appearances, Lammers is living the Dutch dream. But in the 60-year-old’s telling, she has been dropped into the middle of a nightmare, one in which Western civilization is under assault from the Muslim immigrants who have become her neighbors.
“The influx has been too much. The borders should close,” said Lammers, soft-spoken with pale blue eyes and brown hair that frames a deceptively serene-looking face. “If this continues, our culture will cease to exist.”
To Europe’s powers that be, the threat looks dramatically different but no less grave: If enough voters agree with Lammers and support the far right in elections here on Wednesday and across the continent later this year, then it’s modern Europe itself — defined by cooperation, openness and multicultural pluralism — that could come crashing down.
The stakes have risen sharply as Europeans’ anti-establishment anger has swelled. In interviews across the Netherlands in recent days, far-right voters expressed stridently nationalist, anti-immigrant views that were long considered fringe but that have now entered the Dutch mainstream.
Voters young and old, rich and poor, urban and rural said they would back the Geert Wilders-led Freedom Party — no longer the preserve of the “left-behinds” — which promises to solve the country’s problems by shutting borders, closing mosques and helping to dismantle the European Union.
“They’ve found a very powerful narrative,” said Koen Damhuis, a researcher at the European University Institute who studies the far right. “By creating a master conflict of the national versus the foreign, they’re able to attract support from all elements of society.”
Along the way, Europe’s old assurances have been swept aside. The far right may exist, the continent’s political establishment has long told itself, but a virtuous brew of growing economic prosperity, increased cross-border integration and rising education levels would blunt its appeal. Most important all, the pungent memory of the nationalist right’s last turn in power would keep it from ever gaining control in Europe again.
But in 2017, every one of those assumptions is being challenged — perhaps even exploded.
After the transatlantic jolts of Brexit and Donald Trump last year, continental Europe is bracing for a possible string of paradigm-rattling firsts in its postwar history.
In France, far-right leader Marine Le Pen has a credible shot at a triumph in spring presidential elections. In Germany, an anti-immigrant party appears poised to win seats in the national parliament this fall. And here in the Netherlands, a man convicted only months ago of hate speech could wind up on top when votes are counted in next week’s national elections.
At first glance, the Netherlands — a small nation of 17 million that has long punched above its weight on the global stage through seafaring exploration and trade — seems an unlikely setting for a populist revolt.
Unlike in France, where the economy continues to stagger nearly a decade on from the global financial crisis, the indicators in the Netherlands are broadly positive: falling unemployment, healthy growth and relatively low inequality. By most measures, the Dutch are some of the happiest people on Earth.
And unlike Germany, where Chancellor Angela Merkel opened the country’s borders to a historic influx of refugees in 2015, the Netherlands has been relatively insulated from mass immigration. Compared with its neighbors, the Dutch took significantly fewer asylum seekers during the refugee crisis, and much of the country’s nonnative population settled in the Netherlands decades ago.
Those differences make it all the more surprising that the far right’s message resonates here and hint at just how difficult it could be to halt the global populist wave.
For much of the past two years, Wilders’s Freedom Party has led the polls, though it has recently dropped into a virtual tie with the ruling center right.
Because of the deeply fragmented nature of Dutch politics — there will be 28 parties on the ballot Wednesday — the Freedom Party could come out on top with just 20 percent of the vote. Even if it does, it is considered extremely unlikely that Wilders would end up governing, because other parties have spurned him.
But he has already had an outsize influence, forcing rival politicians — including the prime minister, Mark Rutte, — to shift their policies and rhetoric in his direction.
To many Wilders supporters, the overall picture of a growing economy with a comparatively small number of recent immigrants is beside the point. Their reasons for backing the platinum-haired politician — who refers to Moroccans as “scum” and advocates a total ban on Muslim immigration — run much deeper.
“The main issue is identity,” said Joost Niemöller, a journalist and author who has written extensively on Wilders and is sympathetic to his cause. “People feel they’re losing their Dutch identity and Dutch society. The neighborhoods are changing. Immigrants are coming in. And they can’t say anything about it because they’ll be called racist. So they feel helpless. Because they feel helpless, they get angry.”
And today, that anger can be found far beyond the poorer, less-educated, working-class areas where Wilders and his party first gained substantial support.
“I hear it on the tennis court and at the golf club. People don’t want immigrants,” said Geert Tomlow, a former Freedom Party candidate who fell out with Wilders but still sympathizes with many of his positions. “One-third of Holland is angry. We’re angry. We don’t want all these changes.”

When the jihadists say a world caliphate is their aim, they are serious and dedicated to that goal. Hijrah should be a word more in common usage: it means jihad conquest accomplished through immigration, and the current situation of open borders into and within Europe is absolutely deadly.
Muslim followers see Islam as supplying a wholistic package — no Constitution is needed with the koran in hand!

Back to Geert Wilders, he recently sat down with Ezra Levant of Rebel Media for a half-hour chat about various subjects concerning politics and civilization. The whole thing is worth a listen, though I transcribed the section about reimagining Islam which seems particularly important now, when western societies are jumping through hoops to treat Muslims like Methodists. Imagine if Hitler had insisted the Nazi philosophy was actually a new religion, appropriate to modern times — some would have bought into the scam in order to be thought open-minded. Just as foggy liberals today accuse Islam critics of “racism.”
EZRA LEVANT: (19:40) All across the West, there’s a belief in freedom of religion. Is Islam more than just a religion?
GEERT WILDERS: Islam is NOT a religion. I know it sounds crazy, and I know I don’t get a lot of support for that idea, but I strongly believe that Islam might be dressed up as a religion: it has a holy book, it has a temple, it looks like a religion, but it’s more an ideology and a totalitarian ideology than a religion. You cannot compare it with Christianity and Judaism, and you should compare it with other totalitarian ideologies like communism or fascism. I always use one example to prove it — there are many more that — like in communism or fascism, the penalty is death if you want to leave it. I mean, you cannot leave Islam: if you are an apostate, if you are a renegade, the penalty is death, and even today in our societies, let alone in the Islamic societies, it is enacted upon, you know people ARE killed for that reason, and you can leave Christianity, you can leave Judaism.
So and the other point is that Islam wants to rule the world — as you know Islam means to subjugate, wants to rule and dominate and subjugate, not only the person’s life but also a whole society. The rule of God, the rule of allah, the rule of the Quran and the Hadith is the rule of the society. I’m not talking about all Muslims, I’m talking about the ideology, and the idea of ideology cannot integrate and assimilate in a society, it wants to dominate it and it wants to subjugate with violence.
The Quran is full of more violence and anti-semitism than Mein Kampf, for instance. People and academics have proved that, so our biggest mistake is, once again, the false equality that we say that Islam is a religion, so they have the freedom of religion. And I believe it’s not religion; it should not be treated as a religion, and the constitutional freedoms of religion do not apply to an ideology. We would not allow in Holland Nazi schools for instance — it’s another totalitarian ideology. Why do we have Islamic schools? Where young children at five, six, seven, eight years old that we want to integrate, get a job, get Dutch friends, participate fully and equally in the Dutch society are being caught up with the Quran and ideology of hate and thought . . .
We should stand up and be tolerant to the people or ideologies that are tolerant to us.

A few days ago, Wilders was convicted of hate speech by a court for agreeing with a crowd of supporters that “fewer” Moroccans would be an advantageous policy and one he would pursue.

It should be noted that the recent trial was third time Wilders had been brought before a court on “hate speech” charges. I wrote about the first trial in 2010, and this legal persecution of a conservative politician for free speech is getting old. Perhaps the judges will chill now that they have their desired scalp. Or maybe not.

Incidentally, the Netherlands is one of the more densely populated nations on earth (#30 out of 241), so calling for less or zero immigration generally is entirely sensible.
Finally, the trend in Europe has been to criminalize any criticism of Islam — not the way free nations should behave.

(AFP) – The party of populist anti-Islam Dutch MP Geert Wilders has risen strongly in the polls since the lawmaker was tried and convicted of discrimination, according to a survey published Sunday.
If legislative elections due next March were held this week, Wilders’ Freedom Party (PVV) would pick up 36 out of 150 seats in the lower house of parliament, making it the biggest single political group, it found.
Before the trial began on October 31, the PVV was credited with 27 seats.
During the trial, but before his conviction on Friday, its estimated share rose to 34 seats. It currently has 12 lawmakers.
The new poll data comes from a weekly monitoring by the Maurice de Hond Institute.
It found that Prime Minister Mark Rutte’s Liberals would place second with 23 seats, against 40 today, and his junior coalition partners, the Labour Party (PvdA), would gain 10 seats, compared with 35 today.
Wilders was found guilty of discrimination against Moroccans but acquitted of hate speech over remarks he made at an election rally in March 2014.
He had asked supporters whether they wanted “fewer or more Moroccans in your city and in the Netherlands.” When the crowd shouted back “Fewer! Fewer!” a smiling Wilders answered: “We’re going to organise that.”
Wilders, 53, largely boycotted the trial, which he denounced as a political attempt to gag him.
The judges were strongly critical of Wilders’ “inflammatory” remarks at the rally but decided not to impose any sentence or fine.
The outcome of the Dutch vote will be keenly watched given the anti-EU outcome of Britain’s Brexit referendum and the November election of populist Donald Trump as the next US president.
Wilders has among other things vowed to confiscate Korans, close mosques and Islamic schools, shut the borders and ban migrants from Islamic countries.

Wilders attracts media interest because they consider him controversial for telling the obvious truth about Islam and excessive immigration. He has said many times that “Islam and freedom, Islam and liberty are incompatible.” And for that reason, the West should not admit them as immigrants.
Wilders and CNN’s Christiane Amanpour had a few words regarding citizen anger about out-of-touch political leaders:
GEERT WILDERS: What is happening in the United States today as a matter of fact is the same as what is happening in Europe today: the people no longer feel represented by their political leaders. There is an enormous gap both here in America and Europe where people feel that problem when it comes to their jobs, when it comes to crime, when it comes to immigration or terrorism are not addressed by the political leaders. [. . .]
CHRISTINE AMANCOUR: So what is your solution, what is Mrs. Le Pen’s solution, what is the Brexit solution?
WILDERS: Well, we have a solution. First, Brexit is important, and I would like to have a Nexit. So first get off the European Union; second, make sure that when it comes to the immigration from Islamic countries that there will be a full stop.

They are returning and our stupid governments allow them to return to Europe. . .
The reason for all of this course is a policy decades-long of open borders — open borders and cultural relativism, the biggest disease in Europe today: politicians believing that Christianity. that Judaism, that humanism is worth as much as Islamism, which of course is not the case. The reason is that we have no real leaders in the Western world anymore.”

CLEVELAND — Dutch Anti-Islam politician Geert Wilders, in town to observe the Republican convention, praised Donald Trump and the GOP nominee’s skepticism of Muslim immigration to the U.S.
In an interview Wednesday night on the convention floor, Mr. Wilders applauded the GOP candidate’s embrace of what the Dutch member of parliament calls the “Patriotic Spring” sweeping Europe and the U.S., much of it centered on restricting immigration.
“Angry people have become the middle of the political spectrum,” said Mr. Wilders, who is viewed as one of Europe’s most prominent critics of Islam, which he has described as a fascist ideology
Mr. Wilders stood on the packed convention floor during Mike Pence’s speech accepting his nomination for vice president, his blond head towering above the American delegates surrounding him.
“It’s not about left and right, it’s about common people and their issues,” Mr. Wilders said, adding that politicians who ignore the voice of the common voter are “very stupid.”
Mr. Wilders, chairman of the anti-European Union Party for Freedom, which advocates for tight restrictions on immigration to Holland, could dominate parliament if elections were held today, according to recent polling.
Following Britain’s June”Brexit” vote to leave the EU, Mr. Wilders called for Holland to pull out of the union as well.
Although Mr. Wilders on Wednesday declined to publicly endorse any American candidate or otherwise meddle in U.S. politics, a Wall Street Journal reporter overheard him say to a delegate, “We cannot afford for Clinton to be president.”
Mr. Wilders is not the only European politician on hand at the GOP convention in Cleveland. Most notably, right-wing British politician Nigel Farage is in town. He said earlier this week that he couldn’t endorse some of Mr. Trump’s positions, including a call for banning entire groups of people from entering the U.S. country and his endorsement of rough treatment for protesters at his rallies.
Mr. Wilders attended the convention as a personal guest of Tennessee state Sen. Bill Ketron, who said he has known Mr. Wilders for years and who said his own position on immigration overlaps with the Dutch lawmaker.
“He speaks his mind and it’s considered hate speech,” Mr. Ketron said of his guest. “I agree with what he says.”
Last year Wilders visited Washington to discuss Islam. One event, pictured below, was an outdoors presser near the Capitol where he delivered a message with Congressmen Scott Perry, Louie Gohmert and Steve King standing behind him.
Wilders recently posted a video in response to the jihad mass murders of the past several months to remind Western people of what we are fighting for — namely our freedom.
It’s good that he always remembers to mention the immigration component of our Islam problem. Letting historic enemies inside the gate is just stupid. The world is full of wars and horror, but modern politicians pretend that “enemy” is somehow an outmoded concept and any hostile jihadist on earth can be admitted as an immigrant. That must end.

The lights are going out all over Europe. All over the continent where our culture flourished and where man created freedom, prosperity and civilization. Everywhere the foundation of the West is under attack.
All over Europe the elites are acting as the protectors of an ideology that has been bent on destroying us since fourteen centuries. An ideology that has sprung from the desert and that can produce only deserts because it does not give people freedom. The Islamic Mozart, the Islamic Gerard Reve [a Dutch author], the Islamic Bill Gates; they do not exist because without freedom there is no creativity. The ideology of Islam is especially noted for killing and oppression and can only produce societies that are backward and impoverished. Surprisingly, the elites do not want to hear any criticism of this ideology.
My trial is not an isolated incident. Only fools believe it is. All over Europe multicultural elites are waging total war against their populations. Their goal is to continue the strategy of mass-immigration, which will ultimately result in an islamic Europe – a Europe without freedom: Eurabia.
The lights are going out all over Europe. Anyone who thinks or speaks individually is at risk. Freedom loving citizens who criticize islam, or even merely suggest that there is a relationship between islam and crime or honour killing, must suffer and are threatened or criminalized. Those who speak the truth are in danger.

Among Turks, 58 percent feel there are too many immigrants in the Netherlands, compared with 44 percent among the ‘indigenous’ (white) Dutch population. This view is also ascribed to around one-third of the Moroccan, Surinamese and Antillean Dutch.
About one-third of the Turks (35 percent) and Moroccans (29 percent) in the Netherlands have no contact with white Dutch people in their free time. Among the Surinamese, the figure is 14 percent and among the Antilleans, 17 percent. The other way round, 52 percent of the Dutch have no contact with non-Western immigrants in their free time.
The ethnic composition of the neighbourhood influences the degree of inter-ethnic contact. Migrants who live in overwhelmingly ‘black’ districts have contact less often with white Dutch than migrants living in mostly ‘white’ districts, the SCP concludes.
The white Dutch assess Moroccans most negatively. On an assessment scale of 0 to 100, the Moroccan group comes bottom with 45 points, followed closely by the Antillean group (48 percent). The Turkish group gets 55 points and the Surinamese, 58 points.
