The whole globalist economy idea was pitched to Americans as being good for creating more and less expensive consumer goods, a system with no downside.

The scheme was advantageous for nations with lots of cheap labor like China. And that country has grown from a poor backwater to a global powerhouse based on outsourced manufacturing from America.

Lately Red China feels strong enough to be the home of a new contagion (perhaps even creating it in a bioresearch lab) without warning the world about it.

Senator Josh Hawley appeared with Tucker Carlson recently to suggest that China be “held to account” for the evil it has exported.

(Spare video)

TUCKER CARLSON: Senator Josh Hawley represents the State of Missouri. We’re always happy to have him on tonight. Great to see you, Senator.

SENATOR JOSH HAWLEY (R-MO): Thanks, Tucker.

CARLSON: You’ve been one of the relatively few people in the Congress who has been sounding the alarm on China for a long time. The coronavirus, I think, has highlighted the reasons why that’s an important story. Where should we go next?

HAWLEY: Well, I think one of the things the coronavirus has done, Tucker, is just bare the fact that our globalized economy is an economy that really works for China first and foremost, and not for the United States. Certainly not for American workers.

Our supply chains — where are they now? In China. Our medical devices, where are they made? China. Our pharmaceuticals, where are they made? China. Our Big Tech companies, who do they want to do business with? China.

I think it’s time that we asked ourselves what kind of an economy we have we allowed to be created, and what is it doing for American workers? We need some structural reform.

CARLSON: I think that’s exactly right. In the short term, though, the country is paralyzed by coronavirus, which came from eastern China, of course. What do we know about the Chinese government’s coverup of this virus in its early days?

HAWLEY: Well, we know that they suppressed the actual news, and we know that they ordered the whistleblower doctors to keep silent. Of course, one of those doctors, at least, lost his life because of that.

We know that they delayed global response to this virus by weeks, weeks that represent thousands of lost lives, Tucker.

There are studies out there that show that if we had had more time to deal with this, lives — many, many lives could have been saved.

So listen, the Chinese Communist Party has systematically lied to its own people who paid the price. They lied to the world. Now, we’re all paying the price. And that’s why I think we ought to have an international investigation about where this originated.

We know where it was; it was China. China ought to be held to account and they ought to be made to foot the bill for what the world — including the United States — is now suffering.

CARLSON: I agree with that. Absolutely and completely. But sort of off topic, but I have to ask you, are you heartened by the economic support plan taking shape in Washington right now? Do you think it’s good or bad?

HAWLEY: You know, I think — I think that I’m heartened by the President’s aggressive response here. I’m heartened by his desire to go big.

CARLSON: Me too.

HAWLEY: I am heartened by idea that we ought to be giving direct relief to families in particular, families need relief. I do think that it’s important that the low-income families not be left out and not be punished. Any kind of relief shouldn’t be regressive, Tucker.

Families — working families — need relief and they ought to get it.

CARLSON: Amen. Senator, thanks a lot for coming on tonight. Good to see you.

Did China Create the Coronavirus in Its Top Bioresearch Lab? https://www.limitstogrowth.org/articles/2020/02/25/did-china-create-the-coronavirus-in-its-top-bioresearch-lab/ Tue, 25 Feb 2020 21:59:36 +0000 https://www.limitstogrowth.org/?p=18639 Is it not suspicious that the coronavirus first showed up near an advanced bioresearch facility in Red China? At least it appears that’s the case because the Chinese have been extremely tight-lipped on every aspect of the disease situation there.

China expert Steven Mosher is President of the Population Research Institute, and his investigation convinced him that there was some funny stuff going on in the People’s Republic.

He wrote about his findings in a February 22 New York Post article titled, Don’t buy China’s story: The coronavirus may have leaked from a lab.

Tucker Carlson invited Mosher to his show on Monday for a discussion:

TUCKER CARLSON: So for weeks there have been suggestions on the margins that the Chinese coronavirus outbreak may have begun when the disease escaped from a lab in China, and for just as long, this idea has been rejected as a conspiracy theory. And maybe it is, but maybe it isn’t.

Steven Mosher is President of the Population Research Institute and author of “Bully of Asia: Why China’s Dream is the New Threat to the World Order.” He just wrote a fascinating piece in the New York Post and explained that there is in fact evidence for the lab origin theory of the coronavirus.

Steven Mosher joins us tonight. Steven, thanks so much for coming on. So this is one of those topics nobody wants to touch.

But because we don’t actually know where it came from, in point of fact, I think it’s worth exploring all potential explanations. Tell us why you think it’s possible this virus escaped from a lab?

STEVEN MOSHER: Well, I think it escaped from the lab, because we have the Chinese government basically telling us that it did. Let me be specific: on the 14th, President for life, Xi Jinping held a meeting at which he talked about the need to increase biosecurity lab safety at biological research laboratories.

If that wasn’t clear enough, the following day, the very next day, the Ministry of Science and Technology produced a long document entitled “Restrictions on Strengthening Bio Security Management in Microbiology Labs that Handle Advanced Viruses like the Novel Coronavirus” — like the novel coronavirus.

They are strengthening the handling of dangerous pathogens and viruses in the middle of an epidemic, which suggests what? That they mishandled the virus that they were experimenting on in their lab in Wuhan.

Wuhan is the only Level 4 laboratory in all of China. So that’s where you would put a dangerous pathogen, whether you were a genetically engineering it to be a weapon or not, that’s where you would be experimenting on it.

So it makes sense that the epicenter of the epidemic, that the lab there would be the source of that virus.

And the other thing, how would it get out of the lab? Most people would think well, a technician got infected through poor lab procedure and then walked out on the street and infected his family and friends and so forth.

But there’s another way it could have gotten out of the lab because we know that in China, some researchers, not all, but some researchers have actually taken their lab animals after they’re done experimenting with them, after they’ve been infected with various viruses so forth.

If the lab animals aren’t dead, they take the bats and the rats and the snakes and everything to the local fresh meat market and sell them on the fresh meat market to make extra money.

So the virus may have passed to human beings by that means, through the avenue the vector of someone’s stomach, Tucker.

CARLSON: That’s one of the most repulsive things I’ve ever heard in my life. But I’m glad that you raised that possibility because of course, it is a real possibility.

And of course, both our government and the Chinese government are anxious to pretend, you know, that didn’t happen they know for sure. But of course, once again, we don’t know for sure. So Steve Mosher, I appreciate your coming on tonight for that. Thank you.

NBA Embraces ChiCom Values of Suppressing Freedom https://www.limitstogrowth.org/articles/2019/10/16/nba-embraces-chicom-values-of-suppressing-freedom/ Wed, 16 Oct 2019 18:09:52 +0000 https://www.limitstogrowth.org/?p=18254 On Tuesday, Tucker Carlson used his opening monologue to pillory basketball star LeBron James as deeply ungrateful for all the opportunity America has given him. LeBron has supported the corporate line of the National Basketball Association in cowering to the anti-free-speech policies of Red China, and he has done so enthusiastically.

The current controversy started with a tweet from Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey supporting the struggle of Hong Kong to maintain its freedom under the “one country, two systems” agreement to autonomy guaranteed by Beijing in 1997. But Hong Kong is showing a resistance to authoritarian government that scares Beijing.

Below, the message tweeted by Morey, now deleted as being unacceptable to Red China.

Basketball is an American creation, invented in Springfield Massachusetts, but the NBA has adopted ChiCom values of human repression and blocking free speech. The Chinese people like basketball, and NBA teams tour there, making big money. The population of over a billion makes NBA eyes open wide at massive profits to be made, and dumping American principles of free speech seems an acceptable cost to the sports CEOs.

Tucker focused on the NBA and LeBron in his show opener, but he also discussed the increased control the ChiComs have over what we Americans see in our own media, such as movies from Hollywood.

Red China is a real threat to American freedom of speech in the globalized economy, we are late in learning.

Washington should quit immigrating the unfriendlies also. The communist Chinese are famous for stealing American technology and there’s no reason to continue making it easy for them.

TUCKER CARLSON: Good evening and welcome to Tucker Carlson Tonight. Thirty years goes pretty fast. Thirty years ago, it was the fall of 1989, believe it or not — it seems like yesterday.

And at the time, if you can remember that far back, America seemed unbeatable. Our chief rival, the Soviet Union, had just collapsed. Our economy and military strength dwarfed those of every nation on the planet. America in 1989 was the uncontested leader of the world free and otherwise.

But just three decades later, that advantage has evaporated completely. Instead of expanding and solidifying our power, we’ve wasted it. And as a result, we’re now in the race of our lives against a country that in 1989 was so poor that many of its people could not afford meat or electricity — China. And at this rate, China will beat us.

So the question is, how did America fall so far so fast? And the answer is simple, bad leadership. The people who benefited the most from this country cared about it the least. They were also the quickest to sell it out to foreign powers for profit.

That’s obvious now, thanks to people like LeBron James. James, of course, is one of the most famous athletes in history, but he started off at the very bottom. He was born to an impoverished 16-year-old mother in Akron, Ohio. He never went to college.

And yet, thanks to hard work and remarkable skill, James’s endorsement income alone now exceeds $15 million a year.

If there’s anyone whose life is a tribute to America, to its decency, to its endless opportunity, it’s LeBron James.

In return, he showers America with contempt. Just yesterday, James was asked to comment on the NBA executive who issued a one-line statement in supportive democracy in Hong Kong. Here’s how LeBron James responded:

LEBRON JAMES: I don’t want to get into a word or sentence feud with Daryl — with Daryl Morey, but I believe he wasn’t educated on the situation at hand. And he spoke, and so many people could have been harmed, not only financially but physically, emotionally, spiritually.

So just be careful what we tweet and what we say, and what we do, even though yes, we do have freedom of speech, but there can be a lot of negative that comes with that, too.

CARLSON: So freedom of speech is just fine says LeBron James, as long as you don’t do anything crazy with it, like I don’t know, obliquely bleakly criticize the Chinese Communist Party. No, that’s out of bounds. It might harm people spiritually.

It also might potentially make LeBron James slightly less rich. And of course, that’s the real problem with it. Think we’re being unfair? Think that’s an unfair interpretation of what you just saw?

Well, according to ESPN, LeBron James has been adamant in his defense of Chinese fascism. Even off camera, watch this.

DAVE MCMENAMIN, ESPN SENIOR WRITER: Adam Silver got up and addressed the players and LeBron James is one of the players who got up and spoke and said, hey, what are we doing here? Daryl Morey made these statements? You know, damn well, if a player made the same similar statements and cause such war ramifications for the league, there’d be some sort of league recourse, there would be repercussions that the player has to pay.

You know, potentially, this tweet could cost the NBA hundreds of millions of dollars, which could come out of the players’ pockets. And so that’s the double standard that was being addressed in that meeting.

CARLSON: In other words, any American who questions China ought to be punished. That’s LeBron James’s view. That’s what he’s demanding, in fact.

The Chinese Politburo must not be criticized, and yet there’s a very different standard that James holds for his own country and his own President. Watch this:

JAMES: That he has kind of used sport to kind of divide us. I would never sit across from him.

CNN ANCHOR DON LEMON: You would never — you won’t talk to him?

JAMES: No. I’d sit across from Barack though.

CARLSON: Yes, that’s the American president he is talking to. Well, if you read James’s Twitter feed, you won’t be surprised to learn any of this quote, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” he tweeted once. “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

Okay, well, obviously, things that matter does not include throwing Muslims in concentration camps in China or the oppression of more than a billion people in China.

So what does matter to LeBron James and his friends in our ruling class?

Well, the first thing they care about is popularity and that’s what they’re delighted to weigh in politically, when it’s fashionable in West Los Angeles bashing the administration or protesting the National Anthem or re-tweeting and supportive transgender rights or whatever.

Their friends call them brave when they do this, which is one of the indications it’s not bravery, it’s conformity, which is the opposite usually.

The other thing that James and the rest care about, of course, is money. When you criticize Beijing, it might cost you money. Here’s a perfect example.

LeBron James is both starring in and producing an upcoming film called “Space Jam 2.” The movie is expected to do big business in China, if it’s released there. And James can’t risk that.

The rest of Hollywood made the same decision many years ago. We used to see occasionally movies that criticize the dictatorship of China or took the side of Tibet. Remember Richard Gere, whatever happened to him? But not anymore. In fact, that’s unimaginable.

You can’t imagine a major Hollywood picture taking the side of Tibet or Hong Kong, or the Dalai Lama or human rights in China, the world’s largest country. No. Instead, studios now grovel for Chinese funding. And if China appears in films at all, it’s always in a positive portrayal.

Meanwhile, Russia, which is a completely an irrelevant country, most of the time is subverting our democracy. That’s what they tell us. This is what corruption looks like.

Chilling on traditional American free speech principles in order to enter that market is an agreeable deal for NBA executives, we are learning.

It’s sad to see the NBA crumble under the big money offered by the Red Chinese. Basketball is the only sport I enjoy watching, and I used to attend Warriors games here in northern California before tickets required a bank loan.

Remember when the global marketplace was promoted as being wholly beneficial for everyone? It’s easy to believe if you forget about culture.

The position of the Beijing communists is not hard to see. President Trump has smacked them around pretty well, unlike his predecessors, and the Chinese aim now is to smack back.

In the current global struggle, Red China would like to embarrass the United States in any way it can, and humbling the sport invented in Springfield Massachusetts by erasing the free speech connected with it works for them.

As Tucker Carlson remarked during his Tuesday show, the purposeful enrichment of China by American business has not created democratic institutions there. As he summed up, “Instead of exporting American freedoms to China, our ruling class instead imported Chinese authoritarianism here.”

TUCKER CARLSON: Good evening and welcome to Tucker Carlson Tonight. We live, as you may have noticed, in the age of woke capital. They’re not just selling products, they are selling something more than that, and you see it everywhere.

You see it in every movie, every commercial, every press release from the diversity division of your local HR department. The message is always the same. Companies aren’t just soulless profit seekers, they are more than that. They have values. They have principles. They care. They care probably more than you do.

Once upon a time, corporate America flattered its customers. Now, they dare you to be as virtuous as they are. But is that real? Are they actually virtuous? Or is all of this a cynical pose? We will let you decide.

Consider this, last Friday, Daryl Morey, the general manager of the Houston Rockets basketball team, sent what seemed like a noncontroversial tweet. He wrote this, quote, “Fight for freedom. Stand with Hong Kong.” End quote. That’s it.

Now China, as you may have seen on television, is now trying to crush Hong Kong and it’s not hard to pick a side. China, it is rarely noted, but it is true, is a racist ethno-state that bans dissent and murders its political opponents. You think every American would stand with Hong Kong without even thinking about it. But not the NBA.

The NBA is on China’s side. So Morey was forced to delete his tweet. He may in fact lose his job over this. The NBA issued a statement making it clear that under no circumstance do they support Hong Kong or human freedom.

Today, basketball Commissioner Adam Silver emerged to clarify. He repeated the refrain of every person who opposes free speech. Sure, you’re free to say what you think, but you aren’t safe from the consequences.

NBA COMMISSIONER ADAM SILVER: The long-held values of the NBA are to support freedom of expression. Daryl Morey as the general manager of the Houston Rockets enjoys that right as one of our employees. What I also tried to suggest is I understand that there are consequences from that exercise, in essence, his freedom of speech, and, you know, we will have to live with those consequences.

CARLSON: Oh. So, it’s that hard to say that we support freedom against the fascist government of China. Apparently, it is. Steve Kerr is the coach of the Golden State Warriors. On the question of American politics, Kerr, you may have noticed, has no problem speaking his mind. He embraces the hard left social policy that suddenly is so fashionable among rich people. He doesn’t hesitate, for example, to demand the stricter gun laws for the rest of us.

In the words of one fawning media outlet — and there are many — Kerr speaks truth to power. All right. So what truth was Steve Kerr ready to speak to China? Well, none, it turns out. Not a single truth to the government of China.

Choosing between freedom and fascism turns out to be a really confusing choice. Who knows what the right answer is? As Kerr pointed out, it’s really above his pay grade.

WARRIORS COACH STEVE KERR: It’s a really bizarre international story, and a lot of us don’t know what to make of it, so this is something I’m reading about just like everybody is, but I am not going to comment further.

CARLSON: Yes, not going to comment further. It’s a bizarre international story. In other words, Steve Kerr is a phony. He is brave when the crowds applaud, but when money is at stake, he shuts up and obeys like the cowardly little corporate stooge that he is. It is hard to imagine how a man like that can look himself in the mirror at night, and yet he is not alone — hardly.

There are countless Steve Kerr’s in corporate America, all of them happy to sell out their country and lick the boots of their Chinese masters for pay. Activision Blizzard — that’s a major video game company — just banned a top player from one of its games because he gave an interview supporting the demonstrations in Hong Kong.

Just last year, right outside of Washington, the hotel company Marriott fired one of its employees. Why? For liking a tweet that recognized Taiwan as a country. That’s it. That tweet offended China. So Marriott did the bidding of the fascists and fired him. That actually happened.

This is common, by the way. In Hollywood, pandering to China is so common, so flagrant that the show “South Park” produced an entire episode mocking it:

CARTOON MAN: For this movie to really make money, we need to make sure it clears the Chinese sensors, you know, we want those Chinese viewers.

STAN MARSH: Ah, seriously?

CARTOON MAN: It’s okay. There’s plenty of other things to talk about with your story. How about what kind of things were you into when you were younger?

BUTTERS: Well, I always liked Winnie the Pooh.

CARTOON MAN: Okay — no, no, no, no, that’s definitely off limits. Winnie the Pooh is illegal in China because some Chinese students said he looked like the Chinese president.

STAN MARSH: Now come on. That’s ridiculous.

CARLSON: It may be ridiculous, but South Park was banned in China after the episode you just saw. You’ve got to respect its creators for making the episode anyway. And Comedy Central for airing it.

Most companies in America, we are sad to say, would never do that. Why? You know why? China has 1.4 billion people. Companies want access to that market. If it’s a choice between supporting the United States, our country and our people or getting rich from China, it is no contest from any company.

For decades, neoliberals assured us that it was our duty to embrace free trade with China, as the rest of us sat passively by, they allowed China to steal our technologies, snatch up our properties in our cities, driving up rents, decreasing the rates of homeownership and destroying millions and millions of course of our manufacturing jobs.

Making a communist country vastly rich would be worth it, they assured us because China inevitably — these things are always inevitable — would become much freer and more democratic as well. That was inexorable, because capitalism always leads to democracy.

Remember that? They would nod as they said it. They were lying. It turned out to be completely false. Instead of exporting American freedoms to China, our ruling class instead imported Chinese authoritarianism here.

Thirty years later, ordinary Americans are poor, wages haven’t moved, and all of us are less free. But China and our neoliberal elite are a lot richer. It turns out that fascism, whatever you think of it is pretty good for business. That ought to worry you.

They [...]]]> The new issue of The Social Contract is online and has an interesting topic: “When Liberals Were For Sensible Policies – on the Environment, Immigration, and the National Interest.” Be sure to check out the many excellent articles.

Whatever happened to liberals with sensible ideas about the limits to growth on our little planet? They certainly are an endangered species today when the far left Democrats demand open borders to America even as the world edges toward eight billion residents — it’s crazy.

Can you recognize the liberal luminaries of the past and present pictured on the cover? From the top going clockwise they are: Edward O. Wilson, David Brower, Garrett Hardin, Gov. Richard Lamm, George F. Kennan, Sen. Eugene McCarthy, Sen. Gaylord Nelson, and Rep. Barbara Jordan.

My article begins with a somewhat nostalgic reminiscence of Latin American revolutionaries of earlier decades who chose to fight for their own countries rather than illegally immigrate to the US to steal jobs and benefits. Even commie dictators are worth our attention, since bad examples definitely have a place in today’s environment where college students are trained to believe in the socialist model — hey kids, how about an educational semester in Venezuela? Be sure to pack a lunch.

Liberal Policy Switches – From Latin American governance to environmental protection, the reversals are dizzying, By Brenda Walker, The Social Contract, Winter 2019

Is consistency a desirable trait in deeply felt values that form policy positions? You would think so, but the leftward political contingent appears to be unburdened by such moral steadiness, preferring instead the pursuit of power by any means necessary. A major example of inconstancy has been the immigration issue, where lefties once supported nation states around the world, but now side with the hated globalist corporations in pursuing a borderless planet. Go figure.

Confession: I’m beginning to miss Fidel Castro. He may have been a mass-murdering commie dictator, but he at least chose to fight for his own country rather than immigrating for the easy freebies in America. He had a reputation of being a decent baseball player with a wicked curveball, so he had a shot at an illustrious career among the evil capitalists. Harper’s magazine reported in 1989 that he had turned down an offer to play for the Giants. That claim has doubters in some quarters, but the Internet certainly has plenty of photos showing Fidel playing ball.

In contrast, the choice to stay and fight for one’s homeland is rarely made today. The earlier Latin American tradition of revolution against tyranny is just plain gone, with the modern ease of transportation and iPhones to make travel easier for illegal aliens. Are you a Latin American wishing for “a better life” immediately? Just hop a north-bound train or join a well-funded caravan to invade the United States to steal jobs, education, and welfare. Illegal immigration is the acceptable ticket to personal betterment in the modern twenty-first century — according to the left-bent mind at least.

It’s obvious that liberals are fine with that change. The idea of Hispanic national self-determination through political and revolutionary struggle has disappeared from public consciousness. And while liberals love to fling the “racism” charge against Americans who reject open borders, it is genuinely racist to believe brown people must be rescued from their own nations via immigration to the United States. The rescue fantasy is usually a flashing neon light of liberal virtue signaling. (Plus, the fact that most amnestied Hispanic illegals eventually vote Democrat may be a reason the D-party panders to them.)

It is not cruel to limit immigration to America. In fact, ending it entirely would have a positive effect on the Third World. If there were no comfy welfare state to which to immigrate, local people across the planet would get serious about building reform at home.

Looking at the recent past, it’s curious how strongly felt beliefs of left-wingers are so apt to change over time, sometimes doing a 180 to fit the political winds (or the preferences of funders).

A few decades back, leftist revolutionaries were the totally cool icons among Democrat elites in America, to whom Fidel Castro and other Latin insurgents were great heroes. The late Tom Wolfe described “Radical Chic” where wealthy New York liberals celebrated revolutionaries like the Black Panthers and Castro.

Radical chic has more recently expanded into “terrorist chic” among the open-borders left, because murderous jihadists might want to immigrate here and vote Democrat. Muslims with vague unscreenable backgrounds were certainly no problem for the Obama administration. In 2016, his administration announced it would admit 30 percent more refugees in the next year, with the target total being 110,000. The Obama White House brought in 10,000 Syrians in 2016 despite the obvious danger of admitting persons with no background files.

Times have definitely changed. Liberals once espoused the idea of homegrown reform where brown people took their destinies into their own hands through armed revolution and political activity.

And the struggle was real. In 1987, Foreign Affairs began an article titled “Revolution in Central America?” by noting: “On President Reagan’s first inauguration day [1980], revolution appeared to be spreading across Central America. The Sandinistas were consolidating their hold over Nicaragua and guerrillas in El Salvador and Guatemala were on the move.” (Continues)

Trump Administration Takes Action against Red Chinese Threat https://www.limitstogrowth.org/articles/2018/12/22/trump-administration-takes-action-against-red-chinese-threat/ Sat, 22 Dec 2018 22:32:59 +0000 https://www.limitstogrowth.org/?p=17256 The public discussion about the danger to America from Red China does not correspond with the actual peril, since big money from the Chi-Coms has corrupted much of American business, plus the press is always loathe to speak ill of the diverse.

Lou Dobbs has long been a rare exception: he was reporting on China espionage in 2007 with the crime of Chi Mak, an engineer who stole critical technology that allows submarines to run silently in a case that was then called “the most significant Chinese spying case in two decades.”

Dobbs also reported around the same time that Red China had 3000 front companies in the US for the purpose of stealing US technology and industrial secrets, so there have been plenty of crimes to investigate, but Washington wasn’t interested.

But more analysis and prosecution have been bubbling up recently during the Trump administration. One important case has been that of the Huawei tech mogul whose recent arrest in Canada made the Chi-Coms howl:

How arrest of Chinese ‘princess’ exposes regime’s world domination plot, By Steven W. Mosher, New York Post, December 22, 2018

Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou’s arrest in Vancouver on Dec. 6 led to immediate blowback.

Furious Chinese Communists have begun arresting innocent Canadians in retaliation. So far, three of these “revenge hostages” have been taken and are being held in secret jails on vague charges. Beijing hints that the hostage count may grow if Meng is not freed and fast.

Even for a thuggish regime like China’s, this kind of action is almost unprecedented.

So who is Meng Wanzhou?

Currently under house arrest and awaiting extradition to the US, she will face charges that her company violated US sanctions by doing business with Iran and committed bank fraud by disguising the payments it received in return.

But to say that she is the CFO of Huawei doesn’t begin to explain her importance — or China’s reaction.

It turns out that “Princess” Meng, as she is called, is Communist royalty. Her grandfather was a close comrade of Chairman Mao during the Chinese Civil War, who went on to become vice governor of China’s largest province.

On Thursday, Tucker Carlson interviewed Michael Pillsbury, a long-time critic of Red China and author of The Hundred-Year Marathon: China’s Secret Strategy to Replace America as the Global Superpower. Recent actions of the Trump Administration against Chinese thefts and espionage have put the topic more in the news, for which Pillsbury was grateful that the public would understand how China intends “to steal their way to global leadership.”

It’s definitely good that America is learning that the Chi-Coms are not our friends — maybe we could stop admitting them as students and immigrants.

TUCKER CARLSON: The Administration today issued a strong condemnation of a major foreign power that routinely hacks American infrastructure, steals national secrets, technology, personal information in huge quantities.

The Director of the FBI called this country the greatest long-term threat to America’s wellbeing. Russia, oh sorry, excuse me. China, misread that, for more than two decades now, of course, it has always been China, America’s greatest geopolitical rival.

You wouldn’t know that though from watching television. Even this week, with this new news about China, there’s only one foreign power on the radar considered a threat. You know what it is.

CHRIS CUOMO, CNN: The Russians exploited a massive backdoor into the foundation of our democracy.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Moscow’s attack on American democracy.

TONY ROMM, WASHINGTON POST: The work by Russian agents to try to destabilize American democracy.

DON LEMON, CNN: It’s everything you need to know about the threat to our democracy.

DAVID GERGEN, COMMENTATOR: The long-term damage is going to be to weaken our democracy.

ELISE JORDAN, MSNBC: You have Republicans who are silent and seemingly OK with this kind of attack on our democracy.

CARLSON: These people are so stupid it’s amazing they’re employed.

Michael Pillsbury, not stupid, and employed, Director of the Center for Chinese Strategy, the Hudson Institute, author of the remarkable book, The Hundred-year Marathon: China’s Secret Strategy to Replace America As the Global Superpower, a strategy no longer secret, thanks to his book.

Mr. Pillsbury joins us tonight. Thank you very much for coming on. So, this seems like a confirmation, this announcement today, of what we may have known, but still striking.

MICHAEL PILLSBURY: Yes. I think when the Director of the FBI calls China our main rival and then specifically said their goal is to replace us as the global superpower, that’s the subtitle of my book.

So, it’s not just good news for me though, Tucker. It shows the recognition of the problem of China is now getting quite widespread.

CARLSON: Give us a scale of the hacking efforts by the Chinese government here.

PILLSBURY: Well they’re number one, by far, more than the Russians. They have a number of techniques, some of which were revealed today, formerly classified matters. There’s this wonderful term, I hope you’ll start using called, Stone Panda. It’s the codename for the Chinese unit that’s been doing this.

CARLSON: Sounds like a restaurant but I like it.

PILLSBURY: And it seems to, according to this declassified material, it seems to go back 12 years. It seems to focus on American companies. The data that they stole then can help them in negotiations, business negotiations with American companies. They also get trade secrets.

It’s massive. And it seems to be focused on the high-end technology sectors that China would need to dominate by 2030 or 2035 in order to be the world leader. So, in other words, they’re going to steal their way to global leadership, let’s put it that way — it’s more polite than domination. And the FBI is blowing the whistle today along with the Deputy Attorney General.

The pity is, as you know from our local press, there’s been a big leak that Steve Mnuchin and the Treasury Department were going to offer sanctions today as punitive for these things that DoJ and the FBI are finding.

For some reason, at the last minute, Treasury pulled out, so they weren’t at the announcement and they’re not putting the sanctions forward. So, this leak shows dissent inside the Trump team.

And, of course, the Chinese have a strategy that Vice President Pence spoke about back in October that they want to divide the Trump Administration. They know they’re hawks and doves. So this is good news. It raises public awareness for what China is up to.

There were no actual sanctions announced other than the indictment of these two Chinese hackers out of possible 10,000 hackers, let’s say.

CARLSON: Meanwhile, there are calls for more Russia sanctions. It just tells you everything. Michael Pillsbury, thank you very much for this and all you’ve done on this topic.

So, you can’t exactly call the increased enforcement a “crackdown” but it’s been a start.

Obama sure did pick some winners!

RUDY GIULIANI: At the end of the day, how do you become CIA director if in the midst of the Cold War you voted for a communist? I mean only Obama would pick you. . .

Plus he claims to be a great lover of Islam, of the Islamic religion; he says the Hajj was one of the most beautiful things he ever saw.

I also questioned John Brennan’s allegiance, particularly in a 2014 blog, Is CIA Director Nominee John Brennan a Muslim?, that included a curious video:

Spare Audio:

Some of Brennan’s remarks are far beyond normal diplomatic-speak:

JOHN BRENNAN: For more than three decades, I have also had the tremendous fortune to travel the world, and as part of that experience, to learn about the goodness and beauty of Islam. . . . In Saudi Arabia, I saw how our Saudi partners fulfilled their duties as custodians of the two holy Mosques of Mecca and Medina. I marveled at the majesty of the Hajj, and the devotion of those who fulfill their duty as Muslims by making that pilgrimage. And in all my travels, the city I have come to love most is Al Quds — Jerusalem — where three great faiths come together.

This guy is a low-rent hack with delusions of importance who thinks he should have access to American security clearance in perpetuity — he must imagine he still resides in the Obama administration.

Brennan is not just a political enemy of President Trump; his loyalty to the US is questionable. In fact, Brennan was a security risk from the start and never should have had any position in US intelligence.

America’s squishy borders allow Mexico to export its poverty and avoid reform, while receiving billions of dollars in remittances yearly from its loyal citizens — collecting a record $28,126,000,000 in 2016.

Now the top-ranked presidente candidate, communist Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, has declared that immigration to the United States is a “human right” for all Mexicans.

It’s odd that a candidate would campaign for the right of his citizens to leave for another country rather than explain his plans to improve the nation he hopes to run, but Mexico is odd in basic ways.

What’s not to mistrust about our corrupt and hostile neighbor?

Tucker Carlson had a fine explanatory introduction to the subject of Mexican perfidy a couple days back. When he turned to interview Jorge Ramos, the Mexican journalist unsurprisingly proceeded to argue for Obrador and call Trump racist for defending the US border — making it look like Tucker was right on target with his criticism.

Spare audio:

TUCKER CARLSON: You’ve heard a lot recently about the sinister influence of foreign countries on our government. Our enemies abroad we are told: take advantage of our political system to hurt us and help themselves. Well we’re right to be worried about that: it’s actually happening. The chief offender is not Russia, though: it’s Mexico. Mexican authorities encourage illegal immigration into our country. They publish instructions showing illegal aliens how to evade deportation from here. They guide migrant caravans north on their way to America. They send their poorest people here because it’s cheaper than taking care of them. Their America is now Mexico’s social safety net, and that’s a very good deal for the Mexican ruling class.

In 10 days Mexican voters will select a new president. The favorite in that race as of tonight is a man named Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. In a speech on Tuesday, Lopez Obrador said that as president, his administration will quote “defend all the migrants in the American continent and all the migrants in the world who must leave their towns and find a life in the United States.” He added that everybody in this world has a human right to enter our country, the United States of America. And when you think about it, you can see why he feels that way because in a recent speech he also admitted that the Mexican economy is dependent upon remittances from the U.S. to Mexico. [Editor: Even though wealthy Mexico ranks #15 in world GDP! ]

By the way, Lopez Obrador has suggested that he may give amnesty to Mexico’s drug cartels. Those are the people who produce and import the opioids that have destroyed the center of this country, the ones that kill tens of thousands of Americans every year, the fentanyl that comes from Mexico. People who produce that and kill Americans — off scot-free. But it turns out Lopez Obrador’s constituency isn’t just in his own country, it’s here. That’s odd because we’re told over and over again that immigrants are eager to assimilate here in America, but apparently Lopez Obrador didn’t get that memo. Just last year he campaigned for the presidency of Mexico in more than a dozen American cities since Mexican citizens living abroad are still allowed to vote back home.

Jorge Ramos is one of those Mexican citizens as well as Univision anchor, and he joins us tonight, thank you very much for coming. Tell me a little more about this right of all the people in the world to come to the United States — where does that right come from?

JORGE RAMOS: What he has said is that he’s vowing to be a president for the 130 million Mexicans in Mexico and for the about 12 million Mexicans here in the United States, so don’t expect a Lopez Obrado to be a spineless and weak president like Pena Nieto. It’s going to be a completely different relationship between Lopez Obrador if he wins and President Donald Trump.

Perhaps at that point, Americans will realize that Mexico is not a friend.

The recent prolonged spell of suffocating smog has shown the severity of the problem.

A few days ago, Beijing issued its first Red Alert of the year for 23 cities and an area roughly the size of the United States. Schools and factories have been shut down. Flights are cancelled because of poor visibility. Half a billion people are affected, and Chinese routinely wear masks in public to filter out the filth they are breathing.

A Chinese citizen recently wrote in the Business Insider that the first time she ever saw blue skies and white clouds was when she arrived in Boston to enter college.

Below, smog turned the Forbidden City shades of grey earlier this week.

chinasmogpollutionforbiddencity

Worse, from our perspective, is that Chinese pollution doesn’t remain in the People’s Republic: it travels on air currents across the Pacific to North America. A 2014 report published in Environmental Science & Technology estimated About 29% of San Francisco’s pollution comes from China.

China’s wind-borne poison is not a new problem. The LA Times pointed out the toxic clouds nearly a decade ago:

Asian air pollution affects our weather, Los Angeles Times, March 6, 2007

Asia’s growing air pollution – billowing plumes of soot, smog and wood smoke – is making the Pacific region cloudier and stormier, disrupting winter weather patterns along the West Coast and into the Arctic, researchers reported Monday.

Carried on prevailing winds, the industrial outpouring of dust, sulfur, carbon grit and trace metals from booming Asian economies is having an intercontinental cloud-seeding effect, the researchers reported in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. . . .

Interestingly, the Chinese have promised in the past to cut pollution, but their smog is getting worse instead of better.

Americans spend a fortune on environmental protection to keep our air invisible, but that expense is being undermined by the Red Chinese and their filthy manufacturing. American industry is required to minimize the pollution it produces, yet we have a trade deal with the ChiComs that treats them as fair partners, not cheaters and major polluters. This sort of fraudulent “free trade” is part of the reason why Americans elected Donald Trump in November.

So when President Trump renegotiates the trade deal with the People’s Republic of China, he can hit them with a pollution charge rather than a tariff.

Chinese ‘airpocalypse’ affects half-a-billion people as smog crisis worsens, The Independent (UK), December 20, 2016

Pollution levels are six times higher than the World Health Organisation guidelines, Greenpeace says

Residents living in 24 cities across north-east China have been told not to leave their homes after thick grey fog engulfed the region.

The build up of the most severe episode of poisonous smog in a year has prompted a red alert warning, triggering the closure of schools and restrictions on road traffic.

Some 460 million people have been affected by pollution levels that environmental group Greenpeace claimed were six times higher than the World Health Organisation’s guideline levels.

China declared a “war on pollution” in 2014 amid concern its heavy industrial past was tarnishing its global reputation and holding back its future development

But it has struggled to reverse the damage done by decades of breakneck economic growth, much of it based on the coal-burning power sector.

The smog – which has shrouded the area for four days– has grounded more than 300 flights from the country.

The chief executive of the world’s biggest oil exporter was also caught up in the disruption, with his plane prevented from landing in Beijing on Tuesday due to the heavy smog.

Amin Nasser, CEO of the Saudi Arabian oil producer Aramco, was due to attend an event on Saudi culture at Beijing’s National Museum.

China’s environment ministry has warned that firms were flouting emergency restrictions.

Some power plants and chemical producers had not scaled back operations in line with new regulations, according to China Environmental News, the official publication of the Ministry of Environmental Protection.

The region affected includes several major cities in the industrial province of Hebei, which surrounds Beijing.

Red alerts are issued when an air quality index (AQI) is forecast to exceed 200 for more than four days in succession, 300 for more than two days or 500 for at least 24 hours.

In Handan, a major steel producer, the 24-hour average AQI at one monitoring station reached a record 780, Greenpeace said.

“The scale of the red alert measures show that the Chinese government is taking air pollution seriously,” said Dong Liansai, a climate and energy campaigner with the group.

“However, the ongoing ‘airpocalypse’ is further evidence that China must implement far stricter limitations on coal consumption and accelerate the restructuring of the economy away from the heavily polluting sectors,” Mr Dong added.

Pollution alerts have become common in China’s northern industrial heartland, especially during winter when energy demand – much of it met by coal – skyrockets.

Official data from the Hebei provincial capital of Shijiazhuang showed average readings of small breathable particles known as PM 2.5, a major components of China’s AQI, had risen to 665 micrograms per cubic metre.

The World Health Organisation recommends concentrations of just 10 micrograms.

The government said average PM 2.5 concentrations in the first three quarters of 2016 dropped 8.5 per cent compared with the same period last year, but officials have expressed concern that heavy winter pollution has overshadowed any progress.

China has repeatedly blamed “unfavourable weather” for much of the pollution this month, with high humidity and low wind speeds preventing the dispersal of emissions from coal-fired winter heating plants.

Several lawyers are suing the cities of Beijing and Tianjin and Hebei province for what they say has been their failure to fulfil responsibilities in battling the smog.

In recent days, Beijing has imposed an “odd-even” licence plate restriction in a bid to remove half the vehicles from the roads, but there have been at least 85,000 cases of violations.

The capital has also suspended outdoor operations at more than 3,000 construction sites.

According to forecasts, the pollution will gradually abate with the expected arrival of northerly winds on Thursday.

Raza Racists Angered at Arizona’s Ethnic Studies Prohibitions https://www.limitstogrowth.org/articles/2010/05/15/raza-racists-angered-at-arizonas-ethnic-studies-prohibitions/ Sun, 16 May 2010 06:48:26 +0000 https://www.limitstogrowth.org/?p=1020 The Mexican fifth column located in Arizona is unhappy that restraints have been placed on one of its major propaganda arms, namely the Raza-friendly ethnic studies that have afflicted the Tucson schools. (Raza means “The Race.”)

The new state law has followed closely behind the immigration law that has been so slandered by the dinosaur liberal media, open-borders Mexicans are doubly angered. The limits put on social studies in schools are pretty basic: no sedition taught, no division of students by ethnic group to be taught a specific flavor of victimhood. But the law clamps down on what chicanos in Che berets want to teach: takeover of the American southwest with communist hispanic control.

Arizona bill takes aim at ethnic studies classes, Los Angeles Times, May 10, 2010

At the main entrance to a campus in Tucson, a sign greets visitors with “Welcome to Tucson High, Home of the Largest Xicano Studies Program in the Nation.”

“Xicano,” or Chicano, studies is a 14-year-old program in the Tucson Unified School District that offers classes from elementary through high school in topics such as literature, history and social justice that emphasize Latino authors and history.

In the wake of Arizona’s adoption of a law to crack down on illegal immigration, such classes are the subject of another ethnically tinged fight in the state. Another bill approved by the Legislature seeks to ban such courses, which critics say promote “ethnic chauvinism.”

Supporters of Mexican American studies say the aim is to offer subjects and perspectives ignored by academia, as well as foster pride in a marginalized community.

In teacher Curtis Acosta’s literature class at Tucson High, the walls are plastered with the faces of labor leaders Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta and Latin American revolutionary Che Guevara. Students read fiction by Luis Alberto Urrea and Junot Diaz and plays by the Los Angeles-based theater troupe Culture Clash. A poster proclaims “United Together En La Lucha”—In The Struggle.

The proposed law would ban schools from teaching classes that promote the overthrow of the U.S. government, are designed for students of a particular ethnic group, promote resentment or advocate ethnic solidarity over treating pupils as individuals.

The “Xicano” syllabus doesn’t present much of America’s founders apparently.

As a result of being thwarted, the junior revolutionaries put on their Raza outfits (including berets and masks) and displayed their displeasure at Tucson High. (This bunch will take any excuse to walk out of class and cause trouble. Hispanics’ disinterest in education is deeply engrained and shows up in consistently high dropout rates.)

The State Superintendent of Schools, Tom Horne, appeared on NPR to explain his position in more detail, probably trying to head off the MSM going bonkers with lies again:

New AZ Law Targets ‘Ethnic Studies’ Programs, National Public Radio, May 13, 2010

KEYES: Superintendent Horne, is it wrong to highlight the contributions of specific ethnicities that you might not have heard about before? I mean, when I was growing up in Chicago, they didn’t focus a whole lot about the history and culture of people of color. I realize that has changed in many ways, but is that not something important that kids need to know?

Mr. HORNE: Absolutely. And the standards that my department promulgates, we require in the social studies classes that the students learn about contributions of all different cultures. We think that’s very important. But what we’re against is ghettoizing students. Raza studies for the Mexican kids. African-American studies for the African-American kids. Asian studies for the Asian kids. Indian studies for the Native-American kids – and then just teach them about the contributions of the group that they happen to have been born into.

We think kids should be taught together. They should be taught to treat each other as individuals, that what race they happened to have been born into is irrelevant. What’s relevant is what you know, what you can do, what’s your character, not what race you happened to have been born into. And we teach the contributions of different groups together in a social studies class for all kids.

The job of the public schools is to bring kids from different backgrounds together and teach them to treat each other as individuals. I’ll read to you a brief sentence from a third teacher. She’s overheard the Raza studies teacher tell students that they need to go to college so they can gain the power to take back the stolen land and give it back to Mexico. He personally told me that he teaches his students that Republicans hate Latinos, and he has the legislation to prove it. When he asked him about Mexican-American Republicans who are against illegal immigration, he said this is an example of self-racism.

Naturally, reason and American sovereignty have no appeal to the hard-core Mexican fifth column. Several students were arrested last week for trespassing after a news conference held by Tom Horne:

More than a dozen TUSD students arrested protesting ethnic studies law, KVOA TV, May 12, 2010

[The students] gathered at the state education office on Stone, while upstairs behind closed doors, Horne spoke to the press. Horne says classes designed for students of a particular ethnic group promotes a climate of fear and a dysfunction education. He and deputy superintendent Margaret Dugan showed a picture recently published in the Los Angeles Times of TUSD students at a rally, before the bill was signed into law Tuesday. [NOTE: the photo shown above.)

“The class itself is just one piece. But when you have students wearing brown shirts, bandanas, and sunglasses, this is serious. We are teaching kids to hate the very country they are living in,” says Dugan.

It’s pretty crazy to to allow teaching kids that they should revolt against this country and be doing it on the citizen taxpayer’s dime in the public schools. Good for Arizona for turning off that particular spigot of cultural insanity.
