Peter Caddick-Adams presents a brief review of how close a thing the invasion was, how easily it could have been a disaster if the many deceptions had failed to make the Germans think Calais was the target rather than Normandy.

But even with the remembered heroism, it’s hard to see the Greatest Generation passing away with the years. The coming D-Day will be the 75th anniversary, and fewer than 500,000 WWII veterans are alive today out of more than 16 million who served.

Below, Dick Winters (1918 – 2011) is remembered for leading an assault that took out a battery of German guns that threatened the Normandy invasion.

Fortunately, the invasion succeeded and Europe was saved from German fascists. (Only now, the continent is threatened by muslim fascists who were invited by Chancellor Merkel — also noticed by PragerU with its video of Douglas Murray’s remarks.)

But back to today’s video and its transcript:

There were 36,525 days in the twentieth century. Of these, none was more consequential than June 6th, 1944. D-Day: the Allied invasion of Normandy in Nazi-occupied France. It did not end World War II, but without it, the Nazi war machine would not and could not have been defeated.

We, of course, know the good guys – America, England and its allies – won. But in 1944, there was no certainty of success. In fact, there was just as much doubt as confidence. Winston Churchill’s senior advisor, Field Marshal Brooke, wrote in his diary, “I am very uneasy about the whole operation. It may well be the most ghastly disaster of the whole war.”

Brooke’s fears were entirely reasonable.

First there were tens of thousands of men and millions of tons of material and supplies that had to be moved one hundred miles across one of roughest bodies of water in the world – the English Channel. And it had to be kept secret. If the Germans knew where and when the allies were landing, they could mass forces against them and turn the beaches of northern France into killing fields.

To prevent this, the Allies took every possible precaution. Their air forces destroyed bridges, roads and railways that might be used by the Germans to rush troops to the invasion site. Everyone knew the attack was coming; the key was to keep the Germans guessing.

Fake radio chatter was broadcast to suggest the beaches near Calais would be the landing point. Double agents leaked fake details of units forming in South East England. And movie set designers built phony tanks, planes and ships to support the ruse of an army preparing to cross near Dover for the benefit of German reconnaissance pilots and spies.

The Germans swallowed it all. But the Nazis were not the only enemy the Allied forces faced. Mother Nature was just as threatening.

The 23,000 paratroopers and glider-borne infantry jumping into Normandy needed moderate winds to be effective. The twelve thousand Allied aircraft needed clear skies. The invasion fleet of six thousand vessels needed calm seas. And there had to be a low tide to expose Nazi obstacles and mines. When high winds and rain began pummeling the Channel, Allied supreme commander General Dwight Eisenhower postponed the invasion date of June 5th by twenty-four hours. That might not sound like a significant delay, but it was. All forces were concentrated and ready to go. All the plans, all the deceptions, could be exposed at any moment. Then came a new forecast. The weather appeared to be breaking. There might be a 12-hour window of opportunity.

Eisenhower gave the order: We go. Immediately, the greatest invasion fleet ever assembled set sail. On board were over 130,000 young soldiers.

Consider for a moment who these soldiers were. The average age of the American GI was 21. Most had never seen combat or even been fifty miles from their hometown. As they sailed toward the French shoreline, Eisenhower wrote a press release in case of catastrophe. D-Day was an all-or-nothing affair. A new invasion strategy would take months, if not years, to devise.

The initial battle reports were seriously troubling. At Omaha Beach, overlooked by cliffs honeycombed with trenches, cannon and machine-guns, the Americans took heavy losses. “I might have killed hundreds that morning,” reflected German soldier Hein Severloh, manning one of the bunkers. The rough surf also took its toll. Dr. Harold Baumgarten, with the U.S Army’s 116th Infantry, remembered, “Some of the fellows were pulled under by their wet combat jackets and heavy equipment. We couldn’t help; they just drowned.” Further along, Army Rangers also took heavy casualties as they scaled the cliffs under intense gunfire. However, by mid-day – with US naval support – the Germans, low on supplies and ammunition, began to fold. Nazi reinforcements, including hundreds of tanks, which might have made all the difference, were not ordered to Normandy until the afternoon. Before the Germans could mount an effective counter-attack, the Allies had secured all five landing beaches.

Churchill had expected twenty thousand to be killed on D-Day. Fortunately, heavy though they were, the losses were much lower. Of the 156,000 Allied personnel who hit the beaches that day, ten thousand became casualties. Of these, five thousand were killed.

No one died in vain.

Their sacrifice meant an end to Nazi Germany and the Holocaust. Another year of bitter fighting lay ahead, but D-Day – June 6, 1944, was a pivotal step on the road to forever removing the Nazi tyranny from Europe and the world.

The political problem was Europe’s foolish invitation, led by Germany’s Chancellor Merkel, to millions of dissatisfied muslims to come live in the West. But the psychological cause is a disconnect from the history of Europe civilization, which still includes the Enlightenment.

Murray’s analysis is that Europe’s elite (but not its average citizens) feel a loss of confidence about the last century’s failures of history require the penance of surrendering to the diverse hordes of the Third World. From the outside, it does seem Euro-elites are throwing in the towel on the continent with its complicated history.

Murray has distilled important points from his book into a five-minute explainer for a PragerU video:

Here’s a transcript of the video:

DOUGLAS MURRAY: The civilization born of Judeo-Christian values, ancient Greek philosophy and the discoveries of the Enlightenment is staring at the abyss, brought there by its own hand. To put it starkly: Europe is committing suicide.

How did this happen?

It’s a complicated story, but there are two major causes.

The first is the mass movement of peoples into Europe. This has been going on steadily since the end of World War II but sped up massively in the migration crisis of 2015, when more than a million migrants poured into Europe from the Middle East, North Africa and East Asia.

The second, and equally significant, is that Europe lost faith in itself—its beliefs, its traditions and even its very legitimacy.

Let’s take a closer look at both causes.

For decades, Europe encouraged people—mostly from the Middle East and North Africa—to come as temporary workers. Nobody expected them to stay. Yet they did. And nobody asked them to leave, even those who came illegally. As one British immigration minister put it in 1999, “Removal takes too long, and it’s emotional.”

And, of course, why would they leave? The economic opportunities were far greater in Europe than from where they came. And if the work dried up, there were generous welfare benefits to be had.

For a time, immigrants were allowed—even encouraged, thanks to the European commitment to “multiculturalism”—to pursue whatever culture they wanted. But that didn’t work out well. The leaders of Britain, France and Germany admitted as much in 2011, when David Cameron, Nicholas Sarkozy and Angela Merkel dramatically announced that multiculturalism had failed.

So, the immigrants were then asked to assimilate and embrace Western values. If that happened, European governments reasoned, all the financial costs, even the occasional acts of terrorism, could be overlooked.

But it never happened. And immigration just increased.

During 2015, Germany and Sweden added 2% to their populations in a single year. By 2017, the most popular boys name in United Kingdom was Muhammad.

So, why did European leaders decide Europe could take in anyone in the world, whether fleeing war or simply seeking a better life, no matter how different—or even opposed—their values were to European values?

The one-word answer to this question is guilt. Aren’t these refugees, the thinking goes, fleeing the consequences of European imperialism? Didn’t we mercilessly exploit these unfortunate people in their home countries? Aren’t we the cause of their misery?

Accepting them into Europe is meant to be a wiping-away of this guilt. This is especially true of Germany. In allowing one and a half million people into her country in 2015, Angela Merkel was, in effect, proclaiming to the world that Germany, the great aggressor of the twentieth century, the architect of the Holocaust, would be the humanitarian superpower of the twenty-first. A noble sentiment, perhaps, but who pays the price? The ordinary citizens of Europe, who have seen crime and terrorism increase exponentially. Their fears and frustrations have been largely ignored—or worse.

In October 2015, the German government designated that 800 newly arrived immigrants were to be housed in the German town of Kassel. Concerned residents had a meeting to ask questions of their representatives. As a video recording shows, the citizens were calm and polite. Then, at a certain point, their district president informs them that the refugees are coming regardless of their objections and anyone who does not agree with the policy is “free to leave Germany.”

This official attitude—if there is a problem, it’s not with the refugees, but with the citizens—reflects the sense of what I call “tiredness”—a feeling among the elite class that the European story has played out: that we have tried religion and all imaginable forms of politics, and that each has, one after another, led us to disaster. We taint every idea we touch, so who’s to say that the world wouldn’t be better off without us?

Of course, only people who have no idea how lucky they are could take this view. Ironically, no one knows this better than those refugees who truly did assimilate and who defend Western values. Extraordinary people, like Somali-born Ayaan Hirsi Ali, who left the Netherlands because she believed in the principles of the Enlightenment more than the Dutch did. Or Hamed Abdel-Samad in Germany, whose life is threatened by fellow immigrants because he defends European values.

This is the stuff of suicide, the self-annihilation of a culture.

It is possible that ordinary Europeans will join their leaders in this pact. But recent opinion polls suggest that they have no intention of doing so. How they act on that intention will be the great story of the years ahead.

Are we about to witness the end of Europe, or its re-birth?

And Chancellor Angela Merkel seemed not to realize that Islam has been the enemy of civilization since its beginning of spreading its totalitarian ideology by the sword. So Merkel’s opening European doors to hundreds of thousands of muslims was arguably the worst political decision in decades.

Below, Chancellor Merkel thought it was appealing to pose for selfies with the muslim migrants she invited to Germany and beyond.

Merkel visited President Trump at the White House this week, but without the reported bromance displayed when France’s President Macron spent a few days earlier.

Still, the upbeat photos of handshakes and diplomacy on the big world stage were probably a welcome change for Germany’s leader compared to the political morass at home. As Robert Spencer pointed out in a video from a week ago, “running unopposed, Merkel barely squeaked by — 364 votes for Merkel, 315 votes for no one at all” as she ran for chancellor in the Bundestag. Funny how that open-borders thing is finally catching up with her.

Keep in mind that the German election took place on last September 24 and the nation’s mysterious parliamentary system has been struggling for seven months to form a governing coalition out of the gaggle of parties. Many are upset with what a mess Merkel has made with her misplaced generosity to unfriendly foreigners. Unlike their chancellor, when asked whether Islam belongs in Germany, three quarters of Germans responded “absolutely not” or “probably not” in a poll published in mid-March.

Here’s a written version of Spencer’s remarks:

Robert Spencer: Merkel Says “Islam Belongs to Germany”, Geller Report, By Robert Spencer, March 18, 2018

Politico reported Wednesday the sad news that “Angela Merkel received the final rubber stamp to lead her fourth government on Wednesday with Germany’s lower house of parliament officially electing her chancellor.” But Merkel is no FDR; as she begins her fourth term, she faces opposition from within her own governing coalition – which has so far only led her to double down on her disastrous and suicidal policies regarding Muslim migration.

According to Politico, “among the 692 MPs to vote in a secret ballot at the Bundestag, 364 voted in favor of another term for the 63-year-old Christian Democrats (CDU) leader and 315 voted against (nine abstained and four votes were invalid). With only nine votes above the needed majority — which lay at 355 votes — Merkel’s victory is her narrowest since she first took office in 2005.”

That’s right: running unopposed, Merkel barely squeaked by: 364 votes for Merkel, 315 votes for no one at all. That’s not exactly a ringing vote of confidence. “There were more opposition votes than I expected,” said German politician Andrea Nahles. No kidding. And the widespread discontent among Germans with Merkel’s policies has required her to bring into her government people who sharply disagree with her. Christian Lindner of the Free Democrats, which are not part of Merkel’s coalition, notes: “The high number of dissenters at Merkel’s chancellor election unmasks the enormous centrifugal forces within the grande coalition.”

One of those centrifugal forces is Horst Seehofer, Merkel’s new interior minister, who recently declared: “Islam does not belong to Germany. Germany is characterized by Christianity. Muslims who are living here of course belong to Germany. But of course that doesn’t mean because of that we would make false considerations and give up our country-specific traditions and customs.”

Merkel sharply disagreed, stating: “Islam belongs to Germany.”

No one would have been more pleased with Merkel’s statement than Adolf Hitler, who once said: “Had Charles Martel not been victorious at Poitiers — already, you see, the world had fallen into the hands of the Jews, so gutless a thing was Christianity!-then we should in all probability have been converted to Mohammedanism, that cult which glorifies heroism and which opens the seventh heaven to the bold warrior alone. Then the Germanic races would have conquered the world. Christianity alone prevented them from doing so.”

And now a German Chancellor has declared that Islam belongs to Germany. According to Turkey’s Anadolu Agency, Merkel also paid lip service to religions that have actually played a role in German history. “‘Our country is largely shaped by Christianity, and it continues to be so,’ Merkel said, adding that Judaism had also been significant in the country’s history and culture.”

Yes, Judaism has indeed been “significant” in Germany’s history, although most famously now for Adolf Hitler’s attempt to destroy that significance. And now Merkel has brought large numbers of Muslims into Germany who share Hitler’s Jew-hatred and admire his genocide of the Jews.

How Hitler would have loved Merkel!

There are, obviously, many people in Germany who oppose how Merkel is destroying the country. But the forces of Anyone But Her didn’t have quite enough votes to deny her another four years as Chancellor, and that may have been a fateful vote. The forces of freedom didn’t have quite enough strength to save Germany. And so now Merkel will have her four more years, or more precisely three and a half, to complete her destruction of Germany and its demise as a free society. The Muslim migrant inundation will continue, and Germany will grow ever more wonderfully diverse.

Yes, “Islam belongs to Germany,” and given Islam’s political, authoritarian and supremacist character, before too long Germany will belong to Islam. “Islam must dominate, and not be dominated,” goes the old adage; Angela Merkel will soon find that this adage applies to Germany as well as to every other land to which Islam has come, and that some Muslims will be working there to make sure that Germany becomes part of the global umma.

An Islamized Germany will be Merkel’s legacy. Future generations of free people in that unhappy land, if there are any, will remember her name with the same revulsion that the name of Adolf Hitler inspires.

Poll: Germans Reject Mass Muslim Immigration https://www.limitstogrowth.org/articles/2017/04/07/poll-germans-reject-mass-muslim-immigration/ Fri, 07 Apr 2017 23:09:13 +0000 https://www.limitstogrowth.org/?p=15012 In Germany, the citizens have been battered by a totally destructive immigration scheme cooked up by Chancellor Angela Merkel when in 2015 she welcomed unlimited Syrians to her country. There’s a new poll showing German disapproval, but the presentation by the liberal Deutsche Welle news organization does everything it can to murk up the disastrous situation and the people’s reaction.

First, DW states the numbers clearly enough — 54 percent of respondents said the nation was full up on newbies. But then it has to say “Germans were still welcoming towards refugees in principle” — whatever does that mean? No public policy can succeed without defined limits.

Another little lie is the video included in the piece asserting “German companies help integrate refugees” that makes the job assimilation aspect appear to be moving along nicely. However, when real numbers are used, it becomes clear that the great majority of refugees are not employed. UK’s Independent headline from December 19, 2016, observed: 1.2 MILLION migrants arrived in Germany in two years: just 34,000 or 2.8% have found a job. That detail alone guarantees social unrest without even considering the anti-infidel beliefs of Germany’s new residents.

Plus, DW includes no mention of the cause of immigration’s falling poll numbers — the growing crime, particularly against women, who have seen their safe world disappear after it was filled with muslim men.

In 2015, Middle Eastern men crowded the Budapest station, hoping to catch a train to Germany and grab some of its generous social benefits.

So is Merkel paying attention to the wishes of the little citizens? She has been sounding more reasonable since the election is coming soon, in particular by promising deportations (!), but there is no real telling how she will rule if re-elected.

Germans unable to cope with more refugees: study, DW.com, April 7, 2017

A new study has revealed that a majority of Germans are unwilling to take in more asylum seekers. The country took in around 890,000 refugees in 2015.

According to a representative survey conducted by the Bertelsmann foundation, 54 percent of the respondents said Germany had reached the limit as far as accepting asylum seekers was concerned. In 2015, the same survey showed 40 percent of people holding this opinion.

“Many think a breaking point has been reached — the willingness to take in more refugees has diminished significantly,” the study said.

However, the report showed that Germans were still welcoming towards refugees in principle. Speaking to DW, migration expert at the Bertelsmann foundation, Ulrich Kober, said “I think it is very significant to see that that there still exists a robust welcoming culture in Germany after two years of extraordinary immigration of refugees.”

The researchers say that Germany’s “welcoming culture” has passed the first “stress test,” but that some scepticism has emerged. 74 percent of the survey’s participants said they were open to immigrants but 59 percent said they were unable to accept more refugees.

The refugee crisis and immigration have become big topics of debate for Germans, who will go to polls later this year. Chancellor Angela Merkel has come under fire for her famous statement “Wir schaffen das” – German for “We can do it” in 2015, when she opened the country’s borders to refugees fleeing war and poverty in the Middle East and Africa.

One of the most fascinating is the list of top news stories chosen in a poll of US editors and news directors. It is a snapshot of one year’s news, but it can also reveal underlying trends in society, such as the declining acceptance of globalism as a desirable political principle.

In addition, bad immigration ideas like open borders and unexamined diversity also took a beating as their results became clear in Europe. German Chancellor Angela Merkel invited Syrians to her country beginning in 2015, and more than a million mostly muslim refugees came from around the world to occupy Europe in that year alone. Increased terror attacks followed.

The rancorous presidential election ranked as the most consequential 2016 event, where the nation-state candidate won, not the status-quo globalist. Immigration enforcement was a vital part of candidate Trump’s appeal to voters, one he made from the day of his announcement.

The #2 item, the BREXIT divorce of Britain from the European Union, was largely based upon the voters’ rejection of the open borders required by the EU.

In the #4 event, the Orlando nightclub murders were committed by the Omar Mateen, the son of Afghan muslims in another second-generation immigrant problem.

The #5 listing of worldwide terror attacks notes murders in the Middle East, along with horrific jihads in the Brussels airport and in Nice, France. The European attacks have been made possible by open borders welcoming historic enemies from the Islamic world.

So that’s four items out of 10 that are news headliners with permissive immigration as a central or important part. But the scribblers still haven’t figured out that not all diversity is equal.

AP Poll: US Election Voted Top News Story of 2016, ABC News, December 21, 2016

The turbulent U.S. election, featuring Donald Trump’s unexpected victory over Hillary Clinton in the presidential race, was the overwhelming pick for the top news story of 2016, according to The Associated Press’ annual poll of U.S. editors and news directors.

The No. 2 story also was a dramatic upset — Britons’ vote to leave the European Union. Most of the other stories among the Top 10 reflected a year marked by political upheaval, terror attacks and racial divisions.

Last year, developments related to the Islamic State group were voted as the top story — the far-flung attacks claimed by the group, and the intensifying global effort to crush it.

The first AP top-stories poll was conducted in 1936, when editors chose the abdication of Britain’s King Edward VIII.

Here are 2016’s top 10 stories, in order:

1. US ELECTION: This year’s top story traces back to June 2015, when Donald Trump descended an escalator in Trump Tower, his bastion in New York City, to announce he would run for president. Widely viewed as a long shot, with an unconventional campaign featuring raucous rallies and pugnacious tweets, he outlasted 16 Republican rivals. Among the Democrats, Hillary Clinton beat back an unexpectedly strong challenge from Bernie Sanders, and won the popular vote over Trump. But he won key Rust Belt states to get the most electoral votes, and will enter the White House with Republicans maintaining control of both houses of Congress.

2. BREXIT: Confounding pollsters and oddsmakers, Britons voted in June to leave the European Union, triggering financial and political upheaval. David Cameron resigned as prime minister soon after the vote, leaving the task of negotiating an exit to a reshaped Conservative government led by Theresa May. Under a tentative timetable, final details of the withdrawal might not be known until the spring of 2019.

3. BLACK MEN KILLED BY POLICE: One day apart, police in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, fatally shot Alton Sterling after pinning him to the ground, and a white police officer shot and killed Philando Castile during a traffic stop in a suburb of Minneapolis. Coming after several similar cases in recent years, the killings rekindled debate over policing practices and the Black Lives Matter movement.

4. PULSE NIGHTCLUB MASSACRE: The worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history unfolded on Latin Night at the Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando. The gunman, Omar Mateen, killed 49 people over the course of three hours before dying in a shootout with SWAT team members. During the standoff, he pledged allegiance to the Islamic State.

5. WORLDWIDE TERROR ATTACKS: Across the globe, extremist attacks flared at a relentless pace throughout the year. Among the many high-profile attacks were those that targeted airports in Brussels and Istanbul, a park teeming with families and children in Pakistan, and the seafront boulevard in Nice, France, where 86 people were killed when a truck plowed through a Bastille Day celebration. In Iraq alone, many hundreds of civilians were killed in repeated bombings.

6. ATTACKS ON POLICE: Ambushes and targeted attacks on police officers in the U.S. claimed at least 20 lives. The victims included five officers in Dallas working to keep the peace at a protest over the fatal police shootings of black men in Minnesota and Louisiana. Ten days after that attack, a man killed three officers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In Iowa, two policemen were fatally shot in separate ambush-style attacks while sitting in their patrol cars.

7. DEMOCRATIC PARTY EMAIL LEAKS: Hacked emails, disclosed by WikiLeaks, revealed at-times embarrassing details from Democratic Party operatives in run-up to Election Day, leading to the resignation of Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and other DNC officials. The CIA later concluded that Russia was behind the DNC hacking in a bid to boost Donald Trump’s chances of beating Hillary Clinton.

8. SYRIA: Repeated cease-fire negotiations failed to halt relentless warfare among multiple factions. With Russia’s help, the government forces of President Bashar Assad finally seized rebel-held portions of the city of Aleppo, at a huge cost in terms of deaths and destruction.

9. SUPREME COURT: After Justice Antonin Scalia’s death in February, President Obama nominated Merrick Garland, chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, to fill the vacancy. However, majority Republicans in the Senate refused to consider the nomination, opting to leave the seat vacant so it could be filled by the winner of the presidential election. Donald Trump has promised to appoint a conservative in the mold of Scalia.

10. HILLARY CLINTON’S EMAILS: Amid the presidential campaign, the FBI conducted an investigation into Clinton’s use of a private computer server to handle emails she sent and received as secretary of state. FBI Director James Comey criticized Clinton for carelessness but said the bureau would not recommend criminal charges.

Stories that did not make the top 10 included Europe’s migrant crisis, the death of longtime Cuban leader Fidel Castro, and the spread of the Zika virus across Latin America and the Caribbean.

But why would companies invest many millions of dollars (or euros) to install smart machines in manufacturing if they weren’t far cheaper in the long run? There will be some new tech jobs coming out of the technology revolution, but only a handful by comparison. Millions of workers around the world have already been replaced by machines with worse to come, and most governments are ignoring the changes in the workplace.

The ING Bank report cited reflects the same findings as the 2013 Oxford University study that found nearly half of jobs will be replaced by smart machines in 20 years.

VOICE-OVER: The Schunk Company produces robot grippers. Demand for automation is enormous, but so are the potential costs. A new study by ING Bank says automation will cost Germany up to 18 million jobs over the next 20 years, replacing one out of every two workers with robots.

CARSTEN BRZESKI (ING-DiBa Chief Economist): It’s becoming clear that this industrial revolution is quite unlike the old one. I’m afraid that in the end, it’s going to destroy more jobs than it creates.

VOICE-OVER: Germany is already a global leader when it comes to the number of industrial robots in operation. Only South Korea and Japan have more automated production than Germany. The Schunk Company is already working on the next generation of industrial robots. The machines are meant to increase productivity, of course, but they’re not intended to replace people. Intelligent robots are designed to work independently side-by-side with their human counterparts

HENRIK A. SCHUNK (Schunk CEO): Thanks to the cooperation between humans and machines, jobs that would normally leave the country will stay in Germany and that’s a good thing. Robotic assistants will end up saving jobs.

VOICE-OVER: One way or another, automation is here to stay. Whether it will cost jobs or create them remains to be seen.

What’s puzzling is why Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel has pursued her insanely dangerous open borders policy of admitting millions of unskilled unfriendly Muslims who are violent toward women. In 2010 she declared multiculturalism to be a failure in her country. Merkel has shown a lot of interest in robots, so she cannot claim ignorance of future unemployment trends.

Below, Chancellor Angela Merkel tries out a robotic arm during her visit to the KUKA industrial robotics factory on March 13, 2015, in Augsburg, Germany.

So why the nation-killing immigration insanity on Merkel’s part when she knows the automation future is coming? Her policy choices in this area are bewildering.

One larger lesson for all first world nations should be that immigration of any sort is a social policy that has played out:

Over in Eastern Europe, several political leaders have a different idea, and they are planning where to build border fences (Anti-Migrant Force Builds in Europe, Hurting Merkel’s Quest, AP, Feb 15):

So where should the next impenetrable razor-wire border fence in Europe be built?

Hungary’s right-wing Prime Minister Viktor Orban thinks he knows the best place — on Macedonia’s and Bulgaria’s borders with Greece — smack along the main immigration route from the Middle East to Western Europe. He says it’s necessary because “Greece can’t defend Europe from the south” against the large numbers of refugees pouring in, mainly from Syria and Iraq. . .

But further west, Chancellor Angela Merkel (below) has learned nothing from the terrible last year, which has been filled with increasing public rejection of the foreigners’ violence and their refusal to adapt to European values.

Germany expects 500,000 refugees this year: newspaper, Reuters, February 15, 2016

The German government expects 500,000 refugees to come to Germany this year, German newspaper Rheinische Post cited sources from the Federal Labor Office as saying.

German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere told Frank-Juergen Weise, head of both the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) and the Federal Labor Office, to prepare for an influx of that size this year, the newspaper said in an advance copy of a report due to be published on Tuesday.

The German Interior Ministry was not immediately available to comment on the report.

Last year some 1.1 million migrants arrived in Germany. German media tend to use the word refugee to refer to both refugees and migrants.

Cologne: Fallout Continues after New Year’s Eve Jihad against Women https://www.limitstogrowth.org/articles/2016/01/10/cologne-fallout-continues-after-new-years-eve-jihad-against-women/ Sun, 10 Jan 2016 19:04:16 +0000 https://www.limitstogrowth.org/?p=13029 The disturbing New Year’s Muslim mob attacks on women in Cologne has caused the police chief to be suspended. There were police to be seen in photos of events, but they did not appear to be protecting women from theft and groping from large gangs of Muslim men (some number of whom turned out to be Angela Merkel’s new diversity recruits).

More than a week after New Years, reports of migrant mob savagery keep accumulating. As of January 9, “Cologne police said they have now recorded 379 cases of New Year’s Eve violence — ranging from groping to theft to two reported rapes — with asylum seekers and illegal migrants making up the majority of suspects.” (AFP)

Furthermore, Cologne wasn’t the only city experiencing diverse attacks against women; in fact mob sex assaults occurred in several European nations.

EuropeRapeJihadMapJan2016

The events seemed too massive and spread out not to be planned. The young male illegal aliens are hooked in on the internet, as was noted by the New York Times in “A 21st Century Migrant’s Essentials: Food, Shelter, Smartphone.”. So it stands to reason that a New Years project of assaulting hundreds of despised western women (whom Muslims regard as whores) would be spread on social media.

Whatever the mode of organization, authorities should regard the attacks as a blueprint for future, even more violent jihad. Imagine the November 13 mass murder in Paris of 130 innocents with hundreds of attackers rather than a handful.

The stories of women brave enough to speak out shocked the public.

People seemed surprised by the barbaric event, but they shouldn’t have been. The Norwegian blogger Fjordman reported in 2005, Immigrants Rape Wave in Sweden and also noted the official reaction at that time: Muslim Rape Epidemic in Sweden and Norway – Authorities Look the Other Way.

Then, as now, even hostile diversity is preferred by elites over women’s safety.

On Saturday, thousands of Germans turned out on Saturday in Cologne to protest the attacks on women. Funny thing, there were plenty of cops available on that occasion, unlike New Year’s Eve. In fact, Breitbart reports that 143 officers were on duty to protect the peace on New Years, while 1500 were deployed for the anti-rape protest.

German Poll: Support Crashes for Foreigner Flood of Refugees and Illegal Aliens https://www.limitstogrowth.org/articles/2015/10/07/german-poll-support-crashes-for-foreigner-flood-of-refugees-and-illegal-aliens/ Wed, 07 Oct 2015 19:03:30 +0000 https://www.limitstogrowth.org/?p=12555 Chancellor Angela Merkel made it all sound so noble and generous in the beginning — Germany would welcome the suffering Syrians fleeing the civil war as an example of its moral leadership. Then the foreigners started arriving by the boatloads, overwhelming existing infrastructure. As a result of the overwhelming chaos, 80 percent of Germans now want a return to border controls.

The numbers have been crushing. Back in May, Berlin said it expected 300,000 to 500,000 this year, double the number in 2014. Now just a few months later, a major German paper reports that the government projects the 2015 total to be 1.5 million. Earlier this week, an EU official said three million more could leave Syria as refugees.

Plus, hordes of economic moochers from Africa to Afghanistan have seen the anarchy as an opportunity to reach Europe’s generous welfare offices. In fact, thousands of illegal aliens are camped out in Calais France (shown below) in hopes of reaching Britain, which is seen as being the top freebie state.

The German people must be getting spooked by the behavior of the newbies taking advantage of the open borders. For example, 400 Pakistanis and Albanians rioted on each other in the Calden “refugee” camp in Calden, central Germany earlier this month. Doctors won’t go there without security. The camps have experienced sexual harassment and rapes which authorities have hidden so the public wouldn’t understand the extent of the disaster. Even though the press has focused on sympathy-arousing pictures of children, the great majority of migrants are young military-age men, which is not a refugee demographic. And of course the Syrians are nearly all Muslim, some of whom are suspected of being jihadists.

Following is a video from Sunday of a PEGIDA march of around 3000 participants on the Czech-German border to protest the government’s open-borders policies. RT refers to the groups as “far right” but the marchers are visibly not skinheads. Instead, normal-looking people of all ages took part and brought the kids along with their signs and German flags.

Here’s more detail about the poll showing the German people have had enough diversity anarchy shoved down their throats.

Four-fifths of Germans want border controls, The Local (Germany), October 6, 2015

Four-fifths of respondents told pollsters that they were in favour of border controls in a new survey released on Monday.

The poll, conducted by Initiative Markt- und Sozialforschung (Initiative for Market and Social Research) shows a big turnaround in opinion on the migrant crisis in recent weeks.

Well over half – 59 percent – of respondents thought Chancellor Angela Merkel had been wrong to allow Syrian refugees to travel unhindered to Germany from Hungary.

That was a big turnaround from the last poll on the subject, in which 66 percent of people asked said it had been the right decision to let the Syrians in.

East Germans were particularly opposed to Merkel’s decision, with 69 percent – more than two-thirds – calling it a bad choice.

By contrast, the gap was narrower in southern Germany, where most refugees have been arriving.

Just over half of respondents in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg – 55 percent – said that Merkel had made the wrong call.

The survey showed that two-thirds of Germans continue to see their country as one that welcomes immigrants, but more than three quarters of people were unhappy with how the EU has dealt with the refugee crisis.

They thought that the first EU country where refugees arrive should be responsible for taking care of them.

The artist angered the Muslim street (not that hard, true) for perhaps the most iconic cartoon of the controversy, Bomb-Turban Mohammed (shown).

As a result of Westergaard’s exercise of Western freedoms, he has required 24/7 security since February 2008 because of threats to his life. Last winter an axe-carrying Somali broke into the cartoonist’s Denmark home with murderous intent (Panic room saved artist Kurt Westergaard from Islamist assassin, UK Sunday Times).

It would be nice if our own national leader, Barack Hussein Obama, would stand up for free speech against the Muslims-of-perpetual-fury. He has tried to straddle the fence regarding the Ground Zero mosque, for one example.

One might also recall the semi-hidden audience BHO gave to the Dalai Lama (hated by Red China) who was forced to exit through White House trash. Obama is never the stand-up guy for American values.

Incidentally, Merkel may be refurbishing her free speech cred after condemning Thilo Sarrazin for his new book arguing against Muslim immigration. She called for the banker’s ouster from his position on the board of the Bundesbank — and he announced September 9 he would leave his post at the end of the month.

Danish Muhammad cartoonist receives German prize, Associated Press, September 8, 2010

German Chancellor Angela Merkel praised the bravery of a Danish cartoonist who caricatured the Prophet Muhammad at an award ceremony honoring his achievements for freedom of speech.

In her speech praising illustrator Kurt Westergaard, “who has had to fear for his life since the publication of the cartoons in 2005,” Merkel emphasized Wednesday that media freedom is an important element of rights in Europe.

“It does not matter if we think his cartoons are tasteful or not, if we think they are necessary and helping or not,” Merkel said at the ceremony in the city of Potsdam. The question, she said, was, “Is he allowed to do this? Yes, he is.”

There have been at least three attempted attacks on the 75-year-old Westergaard or his newspaper, the Danish the Jyllands-Posten, since he and 11 other artists angered Muslims around the world by creating the Muhammad cartoons four years ago.

Protesters in Muslim countries have torched Danish and other Western embassies.

Westergaard’s cartoon, which he said took 45 minutes to draw, was considered by many Muslims the most offensive of the 12. He has rejected calls to apologize, saying poking fun at religious symbols is protected by Denmark’s freedom of speech.

Merkel’s appearance at the award ceremony drew criticism from Muslim groups, who perceived it as an endorsement of Westergaard’s cartoon. Aiman Mazyek, general secretary of Germany’s Muslim Council, told public radio Deutschlandradio that Merkel is honoring the cartoonist who sullied “our Prophet … and thereby all Muslims.”

Merkel’s spokesman, Steffen Seibert, rejected the criticism and said Merkel’s message was to underscore the importance of freedom of speech.

Merkel condemned plans by a pastor in the United States to burn the Muslim holy book to commemorate the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

“If a fundamentalist evangelical pastor in America wants to burn the Quran on Sept. 11, I find that — in a word — disrespectful, also abhorrent and false,” Merkel said.

Ouch! Merkel is apparently just another politician who believes in Jerry Brown’s adage to “paddle to the left, paddle to the right.” Plus, hostile Muslim diversity makes politics even trickier than previously.

At least free speech got a plug in Islamified Europe.

Below, Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard, left, is congratulated on receiving the M100 Media Prize 2010 by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, right.
