However, the generally tough talk in defense of free speech tends to disappear in specific instances when people don’t want to be murdered in their office by some jihad-crazed Muslim immigrants.
The topic of attacks against free speech was a theme in a recent SunTV segment of JihadWatch between Michael Coren and Robert Spencer. Jihadists are determined to end Western criticism of Islam, aka blasphemy which can be punished by death according to Muslim scriptures.
COREN: These issues don’t direct involve terrorism, it’s not always the issue of terrorism, it’s our freedom of speech being eroded and decayed. Artwork violating Islamic blasphemy law removed from a Paris exhibition — this is not Egypt or Syria or Iraq or Saudi Arabia; this is France, the home of art, avant garde, expressionism, breaking artistic barriers. They’ve changed their policy because they’re frightened of what some Muslims might say?
SPENCER: Well, they’re afraid of what some Muslims might do, Michael, what they’re afraid of is that Islamic jihadis might strike them the way they struck at Charlie Hebdo. So what you have here is a victory of terrorism. The terrorists wanted France and the rest of the free world to conform to Islamic blasphemy law, and they showed that they are willing to kill to make that happen, and in response all too many Western institutions and activities like this one are curtailing their acts and conforming to Islamic blasphemy laws to avoid suffering the same fate. It is a collapse of courage on a massive scale.
COREN: What sort of artworks were so offensive?
SPENCER: There was an artwork of a woman who was stepping on a prayer mat with shoes and this is not allowed, shoes when you go into a mosque, and so this is considered to be so possibly disrespectful and inflammatory to Muslims that it was voluntarily removed by the people running the exhibit.
Winning through intimidation — that’s the Islam strategy. And it works because people know violence will follow if intimidation alone doesn’t do the trick.
Why does America continue to admit Muslim immigrants? Can’t we learn from Europe’s catastrophe? It’s foolish to think that we Americans do assimilation better: when the number of Muslims increase to similar percentages as occur in European cities, then the same violent social chaos will erupt.

Doctors at one English hospital have dealt with 1,500 cases of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in just five years, it emerged today.
Figures from Birmingham’s Heartlands Hospital reveal that staff see six patients who have been subjected to the barbaric procedure every week.
Nationwide, 15 new cases of FGM are reported to hospital around the country every day. But the victims of the shocking practice are clustered in certain areas, which explains the high rate in Birmingham. Heartlands saw 349 cases in 2013, following 288 cases in 2012, 316 in 2011 and 317 in 2010. It is thought to be one of the centres which has seen a large number of the 463 cases now being identified in England every month.
NSPCC Head of Child Protection Operations John Cameron said: ‘These figures show the NHS is consistently seeing a high number of FGM cases every month. FGM is a live public health issue and it is vital all health professionals are trained to spot the signs of FGM and that girls who are subjected to this brutal practice get the post-traumatic support they deserve.
‘We need to ensure doctors, midwives and other healthcare professionals are working effectively together with children’s services to support and protect FGM victims and their family members.’
The records show the number of women recorded as having been subjected to the practice, even if they were in hospital for another reason. Campaigners have pointed out that the numbers may be just the tip of the iceberg, as only those women who have sought specific medical treatment are included in the data.
It is believed the vast majority of cases are women who were born abroad and then moved to the UK in childhood or later life.
Victims are often identified when they come in to have infections and other conditions linked to the procedure treated, while others are noted when they attend for pre-natal checks. FGM has been illegal in the UK since 1984 and since 2003 anyone taking a child out of the UK for the practice faces 14 years in prison.
Despite the rise in hospital cases and an increase in reports to police in 2014 there has not been a single conviction in the UK.
Research by the charity Equality Now and City University last year estimated more than 100,000 women have migrated to England and Wales after suffering FGM – up more than 50% since 2001. The Birmingham hospital’s figures were released after the Muslim Women’s Network told the West Midlands Police and Crime Panel that the levels current support and counselling for victims – many of whom suffer flashbacks – are not good enough.
The charity said the latest case it uncovered was just last week and involved a young Yemeni girl from an unnamed Birmingham school.
Shaita Gohir MBE, who is chair of the charity, told the panel: ‘We need to get funding for specific counselling in this area.’
Birmingham is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in Britain. In the 2011 census, more than 280,000 residents – 26% of the city’s population – gave their ethnicity as Asian or Asian-British, 93,000 said they consider themselves Black or Black-British and 10,900 listed themselves as Arab.
Earlier this month, Britain’s top family judge, Sir James Munby called on local councils to do more to battle what he called ‘the great evil’ of FGM.
He said: ‘Plainly, given the nature of the evil, prevention is infinitely better than cure.
‘Local authorities need to be pro-active and vigilant in taking appropriate protective measures to prevent girls being subjected to FGM.
‘The court must not hesitate to use every weapon in its protective arsenal if faced with a case of actual or anticipated FGM.’

ROBERT SPENCER: Yeah, absolutely. There’s not reason why not. Even European authorities are acknowledging today that there are between 2,000 and 5,000 what they call radicalized Muslim extremists, that is Muslims that are ready to wage jihad and wage it in Europe and they are in Europe now, and so could a hundred of them get together to plan a large-scale attack? There’s absolutely no reason why not. . .
LEVANT: In Canada some years ago we had the Toronto 18, so that was 18 Muslim extremists collaborating, training, working on their plans. The plans were intercepted but still, if 18 people would work together in Canada, which has a smaller Muslim population, I guess it is not unthinkable that you would have, but these terror cells reportedly are up to a hundred people. In my mind, I think of the damage done by two or three people working in concert in Paris last week. A hundred people, I mean that’s like a military battalion, that would be enough to take over a police station, that would be enough to take over a military base, that would certainly be enough to slaughter any Jewish synagogue or university, maybe even enough to get into the French parliament.
SPENCER: Yeah, Ezra, look, all these things are possibilities. Saying it’s a military battalion, I think that’s very well put because they do consider themselves to be in a war.
The terrorist arrests in Belgium on Thursday turned up police uniforms as well as the expected explosives and firearms. A Reuters report (Dozens held across Europe in Islamist suspect sweeps) quoted the prosecutor’s spokesman who explained, “This group was on the point of carrying out terrorist attacks aiming to kill police officers in the streets and in police stations.”

So the bad guys have bigger plans for Europe and elsewhere. The Toronto 18, mentioned by Ezra Levant, didn’t get much press in the US, but the group had a very ambitious plot in 2006 to invade Canada’s Parliament building and behead the Prime Minister, among other violence. In addition, some of the jihadists today have gotten military training in Syria and are therefore far more dangerous than the standard Allah gangsters of earlier plots. At any rate, continuing Muslim immigration is madness.
Mark Steyn visited with Brian Lilley on SunTV to discuss the year in jihad in Canada and beyond. Interestingly, one common theme of the year was how western governments and media insisted upon ignoring the ideology of Islam as being causal, even as the bodies piled up. Even when jihadists declared that following Islam was their motivation, the politically correct voices of the west insisted the perp was mentally ill or disaffected from society — anything except acting according to jihadist principles.
Canada was stunned by the attack in Ottawa on October 22, where Corporal Nathan Cirillo, a guard at the National War Monument on Parliament Hill, was shot down by a Muslim bent on jihad.

STEYN: “You don’t need a vast intelligence operation, as you say, these guys are on social media, they’re doing it out in the open and the reason we don’t take it seriously is because we’re trained to look the other way, exactly the way that the check-in desk clerk did at Portland Airport in Maine on September 11th thought that Mohammed Atta was creepy and suspicious and then, ooh, a politically incorrect thought, better not do anything about it or I’ll be tied up in sensitivity training for six months and so Mohammed Atta got on the plane and 3000 people died, because we have been trained to look the other way.”

By leaving out the religious context of these violent attacks, it is easy for the mainstream media to identify the perps as crazies rather than purposeful jihadists fighting infidels for allah.

PARIS — After a string of attacks across France that have heightened concerns about Islamic militancy, Prime MinisterManuel Valls said Tuesday that hundreds of additional military personnel would be ordered onto the streets to reinforce a routine deployment of security forces.
“There is a terrorist threat in France,” Valls told a news conference in Paris. “It is undoubtedly the main challenge of our time.”
But, seeking to reassure a jittery nation unsettled by fears of militancy linked to the jihadist campaign in Syria and Iraq, Valls said that between 200 and 300 more military personnel would be deployed, in addition to 780 already on the streets as part of routine year-end precautions. He indicated that the soldiers’ mission would be to guard against copycat attacks inspired by the three assaults.
“Vigilance, calm, determination. These are the key points,” Valls said, speaking after successive attacks in the central town of Joue-Les-Tours on Saturday, in Dijon on Sunday and in Nantes on Monday.
In Dijon and Nantes, a total of more than 20 people were wounded when men drove vehicles into crowds of people, with one of the drivers shouting an Islamic rallying call. The authorities depicted both drivers as mentally unstable.
In Joue-Les-Tours, a 20-year-old man with a concealed knife entered a police station and attacked three officers before another shot and killed him.
“These three events do not appear to have any link,” President Francois Hollande said Tuesday. But the timing of the attacks on successive days justified “extreme vigilance,” he added.
The violence raised fears that militants acting alone may have decided to stage attacks on French citizens in response to their government’s support for the U.S.-led air campaign against jihadists in Syria and Iraq. The attacks followed bloody episodes ascribed to so-called lone wolf assailants in London last year and in Sydney last week.
Security concerns in France and elsewhere have been heightened by the radicalization of thousands of Europeans who have traveled to Syria and Iraq to join the Islamic State, which seeks the establishment of an Islamic caliphate.
The interior minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, told reporters in Nantes on Monday that the attack in that city, where a man drove a white van into a crowd of pedestrians at a Christmas market, was “in all likelihood the act of an unstable person.” On Tuesday, Hollande said that one of the 10 people injured in Nantes had died, with aides describing it as a “clinical death.”
In Dijon, the city prosecutor, Marie-Christine Tarrare, said the driver who rammed into pedestrians the previous day, injuring 13 people, was a 40-year-old French citizen of Algerian and Moroccan descent who had “serious and long-established psychiatric issues” and who had been treated for such problems on 157 occasions.

Coren observed, “Many people are saying look at the countries of origin of potential immigrants. And if these countries are used to sharia law and Islamic triumphalism, maybe they can’t adapt to United States or Canada or Europe.”
Brimelow responded, “In the 1920’s the Americans imposed an immigration law that established a national origins system that discriminated in favor of people who came from the place most Americans had come. In 1960’s they decided it was very bad and discriminatory and they abolished it. What subsequent experience has shown is national origins actually do matter, in all kinds of ways, not just shooting soldiers, but also in academic performance and so on. People from different counties do differently… The interesting thing about this case is that the Muslim community in Canada has reached a critical mass where it actually refuses to assimilate… there’s a certain critical mass where you see reverse assimilation taking place.”
Below is one example of many where unwise immigration brought death to Americans: the Boston Marathon was bombed by two Muslim brothers whose family became immigrants using a bogus asylum claim. The bombs killed three and seriously injured 264 including 14 who lost limbs.
Here’s another recent item with Coren, interviewing security expert David Harris, where the focus is on how the police are reaching the limits of staff who can keep track of the hostile Muslims thought to be terror threats. Harris recommends immigration to Canada be reduced to a manageable few tens of thousands annually.

Geert Wilders is the founder of the Dutch Party for Freedom, the fourth largest in that country’s parliament, and perhaps the Netherlands’ most controversial political figure. Wilders, whose 2008 film Fitna confrontationally opposed the encroachment of Islamic culture into Europe, has become an international figure while being prosecuted for “hate speech.” Calling himself a “right-wing liberal,” Wilders advocates curbing immigration into the Netherlands and other Western countries from Islamic nations, closing radical mosques, denaturalizing violent Muslims, and reducing the power of the European Union, among other things.
In America this week for a one-week tour, Wilders chatted with The American Spectator about Islam, the civilizational conflict, and what must be done to keep the West free.
How big is the threat to the West from Islamic civilizational jihad? Is our focus on terrorism overlooking other, perhaps more insidious means?
Islam is a totalitarian ideology aiming for world domination. It wants to establish a worldwide caliphate, ruled by Sharia law — undemocratic, intolerant, barbarian, inhuman.Terror and violence are just one method which is used in order to achieve this aim. There are other methods, such as conquest by hijra (immigration). Muhammad himself gave this example of hijra when he conquered Medina. This town, which was originally a tolerant and partly Jewish oasis, became Islamic after Muhammad and his followers settled there and took it over.
Western leaders focus solely on terrorism, but fail to see the purpose which terrorism is serving: Islamic word dominance. They should focus on fighting the global imperialist plans of Islam and treat terrorism as one of the means used to achieve this goal.
How would you characterize the Dutch experience in assimilating Muslims?
The Netherlands failed to assimilate Islam. So did the other European nations.Western Europe is in the grip of cultural relativism. It no longer believes in the superiority of its own Western Judeo-Christian and humanist values. These Western values have brought Europe peace, prosperity, liberty, and democracy. But, unfortunately, European political leaders no longer seem to understand this.
The newcomers were not asked to assimilate. On the contrary, the Europeans told newcomers settling in their nations: you are free to violate our norms and values because your culture is just as good, and perhaps even better, than ours. Muslims were allowed to build enclaves on European soil, where Western values are despised and hated.
The Islamization of Western Europe is a direct result of this. European nations did not assimilate Islam but rather encouraged it to continue to live according to its culture, which is intolerant, inferior, and totally incompatible with Europe’s culture and civilization.
How do you resuscitate traditional Western culture in the face of the encroachment we’re seeing? Or is Europe inevitably lost?
The European nations need to rediscover and reassert their identity. If Europe fails to stand up for its own culture and identity, it, will, indeed, be lost to Islam. Time is running out. Islam is assertive and aggressive. Europe should be assertive in countering Islam. Europe needs to turn the tide of Islamization and start a de-Islamization process.Here are five things which should be done:
1) Europe should close its borders to all immigration from Islamic countries.
2) It should stimulate voluntary re-emigration;
3) and it should expel all criminals with a dual nationality to the country of their other nationality.
4) It should demand that everyone with a passport from an Islamic country, who wishes to remain living in Western Europe, sign a declaration in which he or she distances himself or herself from Sharia law and the violent commands of the Koran.
5) People who join the jihad have to be expelled, even it they only have our nationality. They can go and live in the Islamic State and no longer belong here.
What message can you offer Americans about the threat posed by Islam and efforts to stifle freedom of speech critical of Islam?
Americans are more patriotic than Europeans. That is a good thing. Europe would be in a better shape if it were more patriotic. Americans should cherish their pride in being American. They should insist that everyone who settles in America accept its values, which are based on its Western Judeo-Christian heritage.America should close its borders to immigration from Islamic countries. There is more than enough Islam in America already.
Freedom of speech is a very important American value. In many European countries, people criticizing Islam are prosecuted. Telling the truth about Islam is considered to be offensive, because Islam feels offended by it. But the truth can never be offensive and people should never refrain from speaking it.
America should recognize that ISIS is an offspring of Islam. What ISIS does is what Islam commands. The Koran is full of commands such as sura 47 verse 4 “When ye meet the unbelievers, smite at their necks and cause a bloodbath among them.” When Obama, John Kerry, the British Prime Minister David Cameron, and others say that “ISIS has nothing to do with Islam” they are talking politically correct nonsense.
Is Dutch public sentiment actively opposed to the Islamist threat, or are your countrymen still largely unconcerned? Is this a situation where the political class is being unresponsive to the concerns of the citizenry as well as oblivious to a societal threat to your country?
I never use the word “Islamist”, because there is only one Islam: the Islam of the Koran and of Muhammad.Growing numbers of Dutch people are aware that Islam does not belong here because Islamic values are incompatible with our own. A poll last June showed that two thirds of the Dutch say that the Islamic culture does not belong in the Netherlands. The political class, however, does not voice the concerns of the people. This phenomenon can be seen elsewhere in Europe, too. It is the reason why the traditional political parties are rapidly losing the support of the people.
Are reforms to free speech controls needed in the Netherlands and other parts of Europe to avoid further prosecutions of Islam’s critics? Is such reform possible?
Islam is currently the greatest threat to the survival of our civilizations. People who warn against this threat, such as myself, are both threatened by Muslims who want to kill them for speaking the truth about Islam, and are at the same time prosecuted by the European authorities who want to silence them because they speak the truth about Islam. This is ridiculous. People should be allowed to speak the truth about the biggest danger that is currently threatening the survival of our Western civilization and the future prosperity and freedom of our children.

You might think that the Pope would focus on endangered Christians, who are being removed from the Middle East by murderous Islamic jihad, demanding that non-Muslims “Convert or die.” But no, he apparently believes that all refugees should be welcomed in the West, including hostile Muslims who promise to destroy Christianity and the other non-Islamic religions.
Below, the Pope’s first official trip outside the Vatican was to the island of Lampedusa (long besieged by thousands of demanding foreigners), where he welcomed Africans to Europe.
As noted here earlier, refugees are largely created by Muslim wars: World Refugee Day: Jihad on the March. There is no reason to infect the West further with the Islamic pathology of violence and supremacism. Muslim refugees should go to other Islamic societies.
The Pope has written that “authentic Islam and the proper reading of the Koran are opposed to every form of violence.” Perhaps he should stick to interpreting Catholicism, since the Koran is full of admonitions to Muslims that they commit violence on infidels who will not submit.
Nevertheless, the Pope recommends a borderless world, straight out of the liberal playbook.

VATICAN CITY (CNS) — Pope Francis called for the “globalization of charity” through an international network to fight human trafficking and ensure the rights of migrants and refugees.
The pope’s words appeared in his annual message for the World Day of Migrants and Refugees, which in 2015 will be observed Jan. 18. The Vatican released the pope’s message, “Church Without Frontiers, Mother to All,” Sept. 23.
“Large numbers of people are leaving their homelands, with a suitcase full of fears and desires, to undertake a hopeful and dangerous trip in search of more humane living conditions,” the pope wrote. “Such migration gives rise to suspicion and hostility, even in ecclesial communities, prior to any knowledge of the migrants’ lives or their stories of persecution and destitution.”
Pope Francis called on all to honor the “biblical commandment of welcoming with respect and solidarity the stranger in need.”
“Jesus Christ is always waiting to be recognized in migrants and refugees, in displaced persons and in exiles, and through them he calls us to share our resources, and occasionally to give up something of our acquired riches,” he wrote.
But individual and even national efforts to help migrants are insufficient, the pope wrote.
“Migration movements, however, are on such a scale that only a systematic and active cooperation between states and international organizations can be capable of regulating and managing such movements effectively,” he wrote.
According to the United Nations, there were 232 million international migrants in 2013, representing a rise of 50 percent since 1990.
At a news conference to present the pope’s message, Bishop Joseph Kalathiparambil, secretary of the Pontifical Council for Migrants and Travelers, said that in 2013 the number of refugees, asylum seekers and displaced persons exceeded 50 million for the first time since World War II.
“A more decisive and constructive action is required, one which relies on a universal network of cooperation, based on safeguarding the dignity and centrality of every human person,” Pope Francis wrote. “This will lead to greater effectiveness in the fight against the shameful and criminal trafficking of human beings, the violation of fundamental rights, and all forms of violence, oppression and enslavement.”
“It is necessary to respond to the globalization of migration with the globalization of charity and cooperation,” he wrote.
Pope Francis has made migration a signature issue of his pontificate. In July 2013, less than four months after his election as pope, he traveled to the southern Mediterranean island of Lampedusa, a major entry point for undocumented immigrants to Europe, to commemorate those who had died attempting to cross the sea from North Africa.
The pope has met with international refugees in Rome and, during a May visit to the Holy Land, in Jordan. He has also frequently denounced human trafficking, calling it a “crime against humanity.”
