In the first three months of 2015, Europe saw the arrival of 185,000 illegal aliens, a big uptick from last year’s numbers. The increase is not surprising, because who among the one billion Africans wouldn’t like a better life in first-world Europe with its generous welfare policies? Word has gotten out that if you claim to be a refugee fleeing some war or privation, you may win the asylum sweepstakes. Nobody is punished for engaging in refugee fraud, so they keep coming.
Europe should be defending its people from a true invasion, but is too mentally weakened to understand the national security threat posed by open borders to African and Middle Eastern migrants.
Of course, there are real refugees fleeing brutal wars in Syria and Iraq, but most photos don’t show families but instead reveal boats crowded with young African men. Europe is struggling with unemployment for its own people, so the Africans won’t find the streets paved in the gold they desire: anger and social unrest may well result.
Unsurprisingly, many people don’t want the invasion. In a recent British poll, only 34 per cent said they would welcome refugees, which fell to 29 per cent when asked about refugees from the Middle East. Many Brits think the Australians have the right policy by turning migrant boats away before reaching land.
But instead of facing the demographic tsunami honestly and taking steps to stop the invasion, European leaders squabble over how many thousand each country should take. They should be planning defensive measures but have been too lulled by decades of easy living and diversity propaganda from the left to understand that war is upon them.
ASYLUM claims from migrants reaching the EU have nearly doubled in a year, figures released yesterday show.
In the first three months of this year alone, 185,000 immigrants have sought refuge in Europe.
The number is 86 per cent up on last year and underlines the migration crisis threatening Britain.
Home Office staff accepted 7,300 applications from asylum seekers at a rate of 81 every day, taking the number housed in this country while their claims are assessed to 30,000.
The statistics come amid growing concern about the tidal wave of migrants heading across the Mediterranean to Italy and Greece.
But despite cries from the two cash-strapped countries that they are being overwhelmed by the influx, they accepted just 18,000 applications between them.
The number underlines fears that Greek and Italian border officials are allowing migrants to pass unhindered so they can move on to the UK and other countries to claim asylum.
Alp Mehmet, of MigrationWatch, said: “This huge number doesn’t surprise me. The official figures are catching up with what we already know – numbers are growing massively.
This is why each country simply taking in a few is not going to work. It is the tip of the iceberg and the more we take in the more the iceberg will grow.
According to the United Nations, June 20 is World Refugee Day, an event designed to draw attention to the many people cast adrift by war and calamity. That’s the idea at least. Many of the current crop of Africans fleeing to Europe are economic migrants — otherwise they wouldn’t be mostly young men under 30.
The BBC had a story in April that tracked African aliens; one was a Gambian Muslim who journeyed over 4500 miles to reach the first-world opportunities in Europe in order to support his large polygamous family. But Europe has opened its borders wide for “refugees” so people like the Gambian are taking advantage of a situation.
Malick Touray, 30, The Gambia
Malick, a 30-year-old mobile phone technician, describes how he began his journey across Africa to Europe in October 2012 because of his financial situation, struggling to support his extended family.
He had finished school early and started work because his father – who has three wives – could no longer pay school fees for Malick and his 18 other children. [. . .]
Erie Pennsylvania is having a Refugee Celebration as are Jacksonville Florida and Wakefield Oregon. Isn’t that like having an Ebola Celebration? Don’t people feel un-celebratory about being forced to leave their ancestral homes and be resettled in an alien culture?
But the point is that resettlement workers want to display their liberal virtue of extreme diversity and inclusion as well as promote the importation of refugees in a positive way — hey, let’s have some foreign people on welfare do their native dances!
The festivities constitute another version of celebrating diversity, which seems to be the highly enforced prime directive in these days of open borders.
The celebrations also distract attention away from what’s causing all the refugee turmoil: Islam doing its traditional thing of conquering infidel lands for Allah as well as killing other Muslims who aren’t sufficiently Islamic in the mind of the jihadists.
Check out the chart of top refugee sources, compiled by the New York Times. Like last year, the top refugee creators are Islamic, namely Syria, Afghanistan and Somalia. See my report from 2014: World Refugee Day: Jihad on the March,
But elite media promotes emotion, not analysis, about refugees so we rich first-worlders will feel guilty and willing to rescue lots more historic enemies. It’s ugly to watch, but the pattern we see today is precisely how conquering Islam destroyed Christianity in northern Africa and the Middle East over centuries. Western nations should not admit potential enemies within our gates: Muslim refugees should go to Muslim nations, period.
In fact, America would be a lot safer if Muslim immigration were ended immediately.
UNITED NATIONS — Nearly 60 million people have been driven from their homes by war and persecution, an unprecedented global exodus that has burdened fragile countries with waves of newcomers and littered deserts and seas with the bodies of those who died trying to reach safety.
The new figures, released Thursday by the United Nations refugee agency, paint a staggering picture of a world where new conflicts are erupting and old ones are refusing to subside, driving up the total number of displaced people to a record 59.5 million by the end of 2014, the most recent year tallied. Saturday’s Wall Street Journal had an interesting front page story about Africans invading Europe by the thousands who are not fleeing war or even poverty, but are looking to grab a First World lifestyle. Meanwhile, Europeans pathetically rescue them and treat them like refugees when the correct response would be to turn back the boats as the Australians have done.
Otherwise, there’s a billion more back in Africa where the current batch came from.
The story focuses on Senegal, which the WSJ calls a “stable West African democracy” that is generally prosperous and has benefited from expat remittances adding to its economy. Unfortunately, the new TVs and cell phones also show the attractive wealthy lifestyle of Europe, and young men want that. They want it bad.
However, the WSJ report does not mention that Senegal is 96 percent Muslim, and when the migrants’ unrealistic dreams are not fulfilled in Europe, many will likely become angry that riches were not easily attained and may turn to crime or violent jihad against the people they invaded.
Young Men in Senegal Join Migrant Wave Despite Growing Prosperity at Home
KOTHIARY, Senegal—Less than a month after mourning a neighbor killed on the 3,000-mile migrant trail to Europe, Ibrahima Ba set off on the same treacherous road.
The 27-year-old was supposed to build a future in this stable corner of rural Africa, using money sent from his father in France to raise bulls and sell diesel fuel. But in March, as chaos in Libya eased a pathway to the Mediterranean, Mr. Ba gambled he could make a better life, selling the cattle to buy a ticket along the world’s deadliest migrant route and joining the largest global migration wave since World War II.
In April, Mr. Ba’s family mourned him, too: they believe he drowned alongside 700 migrants aboard a trawler that tipped into the sea, the worst in a series of tragedies that shocked Europe and triggered frantic diplomacy to rethink European immigration laws.
At least 1,840 have died on the crossing from Libya to Italy so far this year, following 3,200 known deaths last year, the International Organization for Migration says.
“He didn’t lack for anything, he had everything he needed,” said Mr. Ba’s mother, Awa Diop. “But he wanted to have his own means.”
Mr. Ba represents a puzzling segment of the migrant population: Unlike those fleeing war, famine or economic desperation, this group is risking rising living standards to brave banditry, starvation and stormy seas to make a better life in Europe.
Officials here say five men from this village of several thousand—which in recent years has welcomed smartphones, laptops and satellite television—are known to have perished this year. More are missing, their fate unknown. Another man leaves every week, officials say.
Senegal is a stable West African democracy, and Kothiary has profited from the currents of globalization transforming rural Africa’s more prosperous areas. Flat screen TVs and, increasingly, cars—mostly purchased with money wired home by villagers working in Europe—have reshaped what was once a settlement of mud huts. The wealth has plugged this isolated landscape of peanut farms and baobab trees into the global economy and won respect for the men who sent it.
But it has also put European living standards on real-time display, and handed young farm hands the cash to buy a ticket out. Continue reading this article
France’s lower house has passed a bill to expand the surveillance capacity of the government, and the legislation is headed for the French senate. French civil libertarians oppose the measure as a government invasion of privacy.
Below, the office of Charlie Hebdo was firebombed in 2011 for the magazine’s satires of Mohammed, but editor Stephane Charbonnier (“Charb”) refused to stop publishing despite the attack. He was murdered on January 7, 2015, by jihadist gangsters.
The millions of Muslim residents in France pose a danger to public safety and national security, so the imported enemy within requires extra attention. A country cannot indulge in extreme diversity that includes historic enemies and still maintain a high level of freedom from government intrusion.
Another sign of France’s wobbly level of public safety: 7000 soldiers are to be permanently deployed to the nation’s streets. They were put on security duty following the January terrorism and now the policy is being made permanent to maintain the peace, if such a thing is possible in diverse France these days.
The government should start with legislation to end immigration from Islamic nations. That would be the most effective measure to take, albeit late in the game for France, which is far down the road of suicide by immigration.
Controversial new bill that allows intelligence agencies to tap phones and emails without judicial permission sparks protests from civil liberties groups
The French parliament has overwhelmingly approved sweeping new surveillance powers in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris that killed 17 people at the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo and a kosher grocery in Paris.
The new bill, which allows intelligence agencies to tap phones and emails without seeking permission from a judge, had sparked protests from rights groups who claimed it would legalise highly intrusive surveillance methods without guarantees for individual freedom and privacy.
Protesters for civil liberties groups had launched a last-ditch campaign against the bill under the banner “24 hours before 1984” in reference to George Orwell’s dystopian novel about life under an all-knowing dictatorship. Groups including Amnesty International had warned of “extremely large and intrusive powers” without judicial controls.
But despite opposition from green and hard-left MPs, the bill won the overwhelming backing of the majority of MPs from the Socialist and rightwing UMP parties, which said it was necessary to tackle the terrorist risk. The bill was passed in the national assembly by 438 votes to 86, with a handful of no votes from Socialist MPs. Continue reading this article
On Wednesday, the Dutch freedom fighter Geert Wilders delivered a speech to the Conservative Opportunity Society in Washington. He was invited by Congressmen Steve King and Louis Gohmert to the city for a couple of events.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) issued a press release saying that it is “deeply distressed” that the anti-Muslim xenophobe was invited to Washington. Wait, isn’t the ADL a Jewish group supposed to be concerned with anti-semitism? The biggest threat to Jews is Islam: the Hadith says, “O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.” During the January Charlie Hebdo massacre in Paris, four shoppers at a kosher deli were killed. French soldiers guard synagogues and Jewish schools from jihad attack. But the ADL is worried about Geert Wilders telling the truth about Islam.
Islam is definitely unfriendly to free speech. In fact, Muslims murder people who speak against their beliefs, such as the slaughter of the Charlie Hebdo journalists. Wilders needs 24/7 security because of his outspoken honesty about the threat that Islam poses to civilization.
Following is the speech, where he reminded the audience that Islam is a threat to westerners because of immigration: we have allowed the enemy inside the gates.
It is an honor to be here, among so many colleagues. Thank you Steve for inviting me here at the Conservative Opportunity Society.
I am a politician under attack. For over ten years now, I have been living under 24 hour police protection. I am on the death list of Al Qaida. The Pakistani Taliban also want me dead and terrorists from the Islamic State in Syria made similar threats. In order to be safe, my wife and live in a safe house and have stayed in army barracks and even in prison cells, actually the same cells and beds where the Lockerbie suspects were held in the Netherlands. I am driven around in armored cars and even during TV debates in election time in my home country I have to wear a bullet proof vest. Leftist and liberal activists call me a xenophobe and a racist and the extreme right calls me a Zionist and Mossad agent because of my love for Israel.
So what did I do to deserve all this?
The reason for all this is that I speak out against the Islamization of the West. The reason is that I tell the truth about the totalitarian ideology called Islam and that I nonetheless lead one of the major parties in the Netherlands. A national poll yesterday even indicated that my party, the Party for Freedom, is currently the biggest party in the Netherlands.
But enough about me. It is not about me.
I am not the only one under attack. My country is under attack. My continent is under attack. Your country and your continent are under attack. We are all under attack. Our western civilization based on Christianity and Judaism is under attack. The whole free Western world is under attack.
And remember, we have been under attack before.
As it happens, we are gathered here this morning on a symbolic day.
Exactly 70 years ago, on April 29, 1945, two divisions of the US Seventh Army liberated the concentration camp of Dachau, the oldest of the Nazi concentration camps.
One of the American liberators wrote: “Since we saw this camp, we understood that we were not engaged in war against soldiers and officers, but against criminals.”
After the Second World War, our leaders vowed: Never again!
Never again will we tolerate anti-Semitism, political assassinations, mass murders, oppression, slavery. And they vowed that they would never forget and always remember the lessons of history.
Here is one of these lessons:
When confronted with evil, do not put your heads in the sand, but act before it is too late.
In the 1930s, most politicians in Europe had looked away. They tried to appease evil, hoping that it would react to appeasement by growing moderate. What fools they had been! And what a terrible price the world had to pay for this foolishness. Neutrality in the face of evil is evil.
But appeasement is downright suicide.
And here we are today.
Despite all the promises that we would not make the same awful mistake all over again, many Western leaders are doing exactly that. Looking away and appeasing evil.
I often wonder what part of the Koran our leaders find so difficult to understand?
Is it sura 47:4? “When ye meet the unbelievers, smite at their necks and cause a bloodbath among them”? Or is it sura 4:89, “Seize them and kill them wherever ye find them”? Or sura 8:60, “Strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah”? Or is it another of the over 150 Koranic verses which call for jihad against non-Muslims? Or any of the many verses which call for the subjugation of Christians and Jews, or the murder of apostates?
We have a huge problem with Islam in the West today. First, let us look at the causes, then at the consequences, and finally at ways to solve this problem.
The Islamization process has been caused by immigration, combined with our failure to demand that immigrants adapt our values. Fifty years ago, the Netherlands had one thousand Islamic immigrants. Today, we have one million, or 6% of our population.
In the Netherlands, Muhammad is currently already the second most popular name among newborn boys nationwide and the most popular name in our three largest cities, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague. This is also the case in the Belgian capital Brussels, the Norwegian capital Oslo, the British capital London and as a matter of fact even in the whole of Great-Britain.
We failed to demand that immigrants adopt our Judeo-Christian values and assimilate into our society. And here are some of the consequences: There is little loyalty to our home countries. Continue reading this article
A week ago, a United Nations “expert” on migrant right insisted that wealthy nations take one million Syrian refugees, and he also allowed that the number could be increased later. And by “rich countries” he means Europe and America, not say, ultra-wealthy Saudi Arabia which would be a more culturally appropriate destination.
[François] Crépeau also defended “economic migrants”, many who try to come to Europe and developed countries from sub-Saharan Africa. They were “people who may not be in need of protection but are desperate for a future because there’s no job for them anywhere near their country”.
This is how the United Nations thinks: the West exists to be a flophouse for billions of the world’s poor or displaced people, even if they are historical enemies of the people who live here. All the jihad activity tearing up the Middle East now is the normal behavior of Islam throughout its history: religious war is how north Africa and the Middle East were turned from Christian to Muslim. We see the traditional tactics of jihad every day on the news — mass murder, terror, intimidation, threats, kidnapping, beheading ad nauseum.
And many of the illegal alien boat people headed north to Europe are hostile Muslims.
Naturally, our enemies are licking their chops at the opportunity to enter the hated infidel lands by pretending to be refugees. It’s too easy to resist.
Europe’s acceptance of many thousands of potentially dangerous people is a terrible idea on the face, but the sleepwalking to disaster continues because liberal ideology requires the rescue of designated victims. It’s all so Camp of the Saints.
Only a few voices have spoken out about the obvious danger. The Dutch political leader Geert Wilders recommends the Australian approach of turning away all refugee-filled ships. When the aliens understand that they will not be admitted to Europe they will quit heading north in rickety boats.
The humanitarian disaster unfolding on the Mediterranean is likely already providing a “shield” for Islamist terrorists to infiltrate waves of migrants attempting the perilous crossing from North Africa to Europe, terrorism experts and other strategic observers are warning. And they say a UN plan to resettle 1 million refugees in Western nations would turn the situation into a full-blown security crisis.
The exodus now unfolding, as well as the UN call to take in refugees from war-torn Middle Eastern and African nations over the next five years, is providing a “shield for the passage of jihadists to Europe,” said one analyst. Once absorbed into the societies of Europe and other rich countries such as the United States, ISIS operatives would be set to eventually gain all the freedoms of other citizens of those countries – including the freedom to travel, often without having to go through the extra scrutiny involved in obtaining a passport visa.
“ISIS has threatened to [infiltrate the migrants] and German intelligence already said that this is a real threat,” Dutch lawmaker Geert Wilders told FoxNews.com from The Netherlands.“An open door policy would – both for the USA and Europe – mean that the threat of Islamists and terrorists entering our countries would increase to a very dangerous level.”
Muslims among migrants trying to reach Italy by boat from Libya tossed 12 fellow passengers overboard this month because they were Christians, Italian police said. All 12 drowned, leading the Italian authorities to charge 15 Muslim men with murder fueled by religious hatred.
While the incident received media attention, appeals by the United Nations and international charities such as Amnesty International and Oxfam have focused on the wider dangers faced by all the migrants crossing by the thousands in crowded and rickety vessels, as they escape violence and economic hardship throughout northern and western Africa, and the Middle East.
The intensity of their appeals for Europe and beyond to step up their intake of refugees soared after some 770 migrants lost their lives when their boat capsized and sank earlier this month.
The tragedy marked the largest loss of life of any in the Mediterranean involving refugees and migrants, and came just days after a similar disaster claimed an estimated 400 lives, while another tragedy at sea left 50 more dead.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called on the “international community” – taken in most quarters to mean developed countries – to institute a “comprehensive and collective” response, which he said should go beyond meeting the immediate need of improved sea-rescue options. She is also warning about a potential “Michiganistan” in the United States, just as Britain’s main city is now sometimes called Londonistan to describe the negative effects of Muslim immigration.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s warning is well taken, but her solution is idiotic. As an immigrant, she has “no objection to other people coming to America to seek a better life” but that naivete won’t work when Muslim newbies come packed with a poisonous ideology of death. Their holy book is a murder manual that includes more than one hundred verses urging believers to slay the infidels. Of course not all Muslims are active headchoppers, but the dormant commandments of violence may surface in persons who appear assimilated but then revert to type. One example was Shirwa Ahmed, an immigrant who graduated from a Minneapolis high school and later returned to Somalia to blow up 30 people and himself in Mogadishu.
Finally, Muslims have a 1400-year history of conquest against infidels. They make no secret of their plans for a global caliphate under Islamic law. The author notes that the “Muslim population of the United States is set to increase from around 2.6 million today to 6.2 million in 2030” — how can that possibly be advantageous for America? It is a profound danger, given Muslims’ history and beliefs. The idea that some program of effective assimilation could be designed that can protect us from a self-inflicted catastrophe is pure fantasy.
Since the massacre at the offices of the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in January, the U.S. media has understandably devoted attention to the problem of radical Islam in Europe. The fact has been widely reported that thousands of European Union citizens have traveled to Iraq and Syria to join the self-styled Islamic State. Almost as much coverage has been given to stories of French Jews emigrating to Israel. And there have been numerous articles about Michel Houellebecq’s diabolically timed novel Soumission, which imagines France in 2022 with a Muslim president introducing sharia law and being fawned over by the Parisian establishment.
The implication of many of these articles is: “How utterly terrifying. Thank heavens it couldn’t happen here.”
True, there are no American equivalents of the alarmist books about Europe with titles like Eurabia or Londonistan. Apparently it is not quite time to warn about the “United States of Sharia” or “Michiganistan.” But are we underestimating the speed with which this country could develop substantial and influential populations of Islamic extremists? A growing, if still small number of cases like that of Abdi Nur — the 20-year-old student who left south Minneapolis to join IS last year — suggests we may be.
Mainly as a result of postwar migrations, there are now more than 20 million Muslims living in the European Union. In France – where accurate census data on religious affiliation are not collected – the Muslim share of the population is now estimated at between 7 and 8 percent. That is an order of magnitude larger than the current Muslim share of the U.S. population.
Yet, as the European experience shows, demographic change can happen rapidly, as a consequence of migration patterns, differentials in birth rates and – in the case of religious affiliation – rates of conversion and apostasy. In 1990 Europe (the whole continent minus Russia) had a Muslim population of 16 million. It had nearly doubled by 2010. It will be 40 million by 2030.
According to estimates by the Pew Research Center, the Muslim population of the United States is set to increase from around 2.6 million today to 6.2 million in 2030, mainly as a result of immigration, as well as above-average birth rates. Although in relative terms this will still represent less than 2 percent of the total U.S. population (1.7 percent, to be precise, compared with around 0.8 percent today), in absolute terms that will be a larger population than in any West European country except France. Between now and 2030, the Muslim population of the United States will be growing faster than that of any EU member state (with two exceptions where the absolute numbers are tiny: Ireland and Finland). The annual growth rate will be more than double that of France.
As an immigrant of Somali origin, I have no objection to other people coming to America to seek a better life for themselves and their families. My concern is with the attitudes many of these new Muslim Americans will bring with them – and with our capacity for changing those attitudes. Continue reading this article
But prisons offer a captive audience of angry young men who may be open to hearing an excuse for violent behavior. Some inmates are receptive to the belief that rape, assault and murder are acceptable when done by Muslims against infidels for the glory of Allah: just follow your violent actions with an Allahu Ackbar and it’s all cool. Islam is therefore the ideal religion for criminals.
Ayaan points out that some of the imams doing prison ministries are dangerous and dedicated to jihad, yet are paid by the government to teach Islam behind bars to persons already inclined toward violence.
A radical imam threatened me with death—and was later hired to preach in U.S. prisons. I was surprised, but I shouldn’t have been.
Less than a year after I moved to the United States in 2006, I was asked to speak at the University of Pittsburgh. Among those who objected to my appearance was a local imam, Fouad El Bayly, of the Johnstown Islamic Center. Mr. Bayly was born in Egypt but has lived in the U.S. since 1976. In his own words, I had “been identified as one who has defamed the faith.” As he explained at the time: “If you come into the faith, you must abide by the laws, and when you decide to defame it deliberately, the sentence is death.”
After a local newspaper reported Mr. Bayly’s comments, he was forced to resign from the Islamic Center. That was the last I would hear of him—or so I thought.
Imagine my surprise when I learned recently that the man who threatened me with death for apostasy is being paid by the U.S. Justice Department to teach Islam in American jails.
According to records on the federal site USASpending.gov and first reported by Chuck Ross of the Daily Caller, the Federal Bureau of Prisons awarded Mr. Bayly a $10,500 contract in February 2014 to provide “religious services, leadership and guidance” to inmates at the Federal Correctional Institution in Cumberland, Md. Ten months later he received another federal contract, worth $2,400, to provide “Muslim classes for inmates” at the same prison. Continue reading this article
One man is dead and three police officers have been wounded in Copenhagen after a coffee house was sprayed with full-auto gunfire during an event titled “‘Art, blasphemy and the freedom of expression” organized by the artist Lars Vilks.
Below, the cafe under attack was hit by an estimated 200 bullets.
The cartoonist was part of the Danish cartoon controversy of Mohammed drawings published in the newspaper Jyllands-Posten in 2005. Any graphic expression Mohammed is considered blasphemy by hostile Muslims, and Vilks has been attacked before.
Below, cartoonist Lars Vilks with the axe he keeps under his bed for protection against the Religion of Peace. Apparently only jihadists can own firearms in Denmark.
Here’s an early report:
It’s reasonable to assume that Allah’s unfriendly gangsters are pumped up by their success in the mass assassination of the Charlie Hebdo staff in Paris early this year. Vilks is certainly high on their list of targets for practicing free speech according to Western principles.
Robert Spencer observed that the attack occurred on the anniversary of Iran declaring a fatwa on Salman Rushdie in 1989, another assault on free speech.
Any freedom-loving people should end Muslim immigration immediately if they want their societies to survive intact.
One person has died after 200 bullets were fired into a cafe in Copenhagen in an attack on a cartoonist who insulted the Prophet Mohammed.
A man, aged 40, was killed when two masked gunmen sprayed bullets into the Krudttoenden cafe in the centre of the Danish capital this afternoon.
It is believed the target was Lars Vilks, the controversial Swedish cartoonist who drew the Prophet Mohammed as a dog.
Three police officers were also injured in the attack on the cafe, which was hosting a debate on art and freedom of speech when it was targeted.
The attack is thought to have been carried out by two men, who remain on the run after fleeing the scene in a car.
There are reports on social media that the car has since been found, close to where the attack happened.
The cafe had been hosting a debate titled Art, Blasphemy and Freedom of Expression, featuring a number of controversial speakers.
Niels Ivar Larsen, who was speaking at the event, told how he forced to take shelter as the gunmen opened fire indiscriminately at the cafe.
He said: ‘I heard someone firing with an automatic weapons and someone shouting.
‘Police returned the fire and I hid behind the bar. I felt surreal, like in a movie.’
Vilks, a Swedish artist known for his provocative drawings of the Prophet Mohammed, has faced several attempted attacks and death threats after he depicted the Prophet as a dog in 2007.
As a result, he is guarded by police any time he visits Denmark. Some are speculating he was the intended target of the attack. Continue reading this article
Many factory floors can look like lonely places today, if you expect to see human workers. The assembly line designed by Henry Ford created jobs for thousands of Americans, but recently those workers have been replaced by machines.
Then:
Now:
There’s a workplace revolution happening now from manufacturing plants to offices. A 2013 report from the Associated Press noted the damage to white-collar jobs:
In the U.S., more than 1.1 million secretaries vanished from the job market between 2000 and 2010, their job security shattered by software that lets bosses field calls themselves and arrange their own meetings and trips. Over the same period, the number of telephone operators plunged by 64 percent, word processors and typists by 63 percent, travel agents by 46 percent and bookkeepers by 26 percent, according to Labor Department statistics.
And people wonder why the recession’s recovery has been jobless. It’s death by a thousand cuts.
Productivity has gone up while employment has decreased in the past 15 years. That fact alone should be a big hint about the effects of robots, computers and automation.
America certainly doesn’t need millions of low-skilled immigrant workers invading the job market, yet Washington acts as if labor needs are the same as 50 years ago. A 2013 Oxford University study (“The Future of Employment: How Susceptible Are Jobs to Computerisation?”) concluded that “about 47 percent of total US employment is at risk” to be replaced by smart machines in 20 years.
America therefore needs ZERO immigrants to fill jobs. Enlarging the angry jobless underclass is unwise, to say the least.
The businesses that produce industrial robots have been pushing forward, and smart machines have gotten cheaper and as a result are a viable alternative to humans.
Manufacturers will significantly accelerate their use of robots in U.S. factories over the next decade as they become cheaper and perform more tasks, constraining payroll growth, according to a study out Tuesday.
The development is expected to dramatically boost productivity and slow the long-standing migration of factories across the globe to take advantage of low-cost labor, says the Boston Consulting Group report.
“Advanced robotics are changing the calculus of manufacturing,” says Harold Sirkin, a senior partner at the research firm.
A handful of nations, including the U.S. and China, are poised to reap the biggest benefits of the automation wave.
About 1.2 million additional advanced robots are expected to be deployed in the U.S. by 2025, BCG says. Four industries will lead the shift — computer and electronics products; electrical equipment and appliances; transportation; and machinery — largely because more of their tasks can be automated and they deliver the biggest cost savings.
About 10% of all manufacturing functions are automated, a share that will rise to nearly 25% in a decade as robotic vision sensors and gripping systems improve, the research firm says.
Meanwhile, costs are tumbling. The cost to purchase and start up an advanced robotic spot welder has plunged from $182,000 in 2005 to $133,000 in 2014, with the price forecast to drop another 22% by 2025. Continue reading this article
France is in a terrible state, where hostile Muslim attacks are ratcheting up, particularly in the mass murders at the Charlie Hebdo office, but the old habit of political correctness remains in place. The Hebdo slaughter was a major shock to the French psyche, yet the willingness to deal with the cancer of Muslim immigration is missing, according to a report from CBN’s Dale Hurd. In fact, his report asks, “Does France face civil war?”
PARIS – French Holocaust survivors gathered last month on the 70th anniversary of the liberation the Auschwitz.
They are men and women who saw terrible anti-Semitism as children and who must again live in a time when some in France and in Europe want to kill Jews.
France’s Jews have felt like a target for a long time. And the killings by Muslim terrorists at the Charlie Hebdo newspaper and kosher supermarket have only confirmed their worst fears, and it will cause more of them to leave France for Israel and the United States.
Post-Charlie: Same Old, Same Old
Some have called the massacre France’s 9/11. But America clearly changed after 9/11. It’s not at all clear if France has changed enough.
Yes, there have been arrests and more police and soldiers have been deployed. But political correctness is still so deeply rooted in France that speaking out too strongly against Muslim immigration and being labelled a racist can still end a career.
French TV commentator Eric Zemmour was fired in December for saying that Muslims should be deported to avoid “chaos and civil war.”
Zemmour has written the bestseller, The French Suicide, about how France is being destroyed. CBN News had hoped to interview Zemmour, but his publicist told us he was in hiding because of death threats.
One week after the killings, Paris police banned an anti-Islamization march.
Even popular far-right leader Marine Le Pen has been tiptoeing around the subject. She’s reportedly feuding with her foreign policy adviser, Aymeric Chauprade, who gave an exclusive interview to CBN News.
Chauprade angered Le Pen by saying that France is at war with some Muslims and in danger from what he called a fifth column of 1 million radical Muslims in France.
“The problem, which is maybe worse, is the sympathy from a large part of the Muslim population in France toward jihad and towards the radical idea,” he told CBN News.
“(French leaders) refuse to accept the idea that violence is rooted in Islam. I do not say all Muslims are violent but that violence is rooted in Islam’s holy texts,” he said.
An Outpouring of Hypocrisy
The world saw millions of Frenchmen flood into the streets to say “I am Charlie.” It was a touching outpouring of support for free speech in the face of Muslim terror.
But conservatives in France saw something else: hypocrisy.
The same French leaders marching for free speech have not allowed free speech critical of Islam, except for few Charlie Hebdo cartoons, and have crafted policies that have allowed Muslim extremism to flourish in France.
French author, journalist and publisher Jean Robin says the government brought on the attacks, by being harder on critics of Islam than on Muslims. Continue reading this article
Following the mass slaughter in Paris of Charlie Hebdo journalists and artists, huge crowds and world leaders assembled in the city to express condemnation of the murders that were committed to shut down free speech in France.
However, the generally tough talk in defense of free speech tends to disappear in specific instances when people don’t want to be murdered in their office by some jihad-crazed Muslim immigrants.
The topic of attacks against free speech was a theme in a recent SunTV segment of JihadWatch between Michael Coren and Robert Spencer. Jihadists are determined to end Western criticism of Islam, aka blasphemy which can be punished by death according to Muslim scriptures.
COREN: These issues don’t direct involve terrorism, it’s not always the issue of terrorism, it’s our freedom of speech being eroded and decayed. Artwork violating Islamic blasphemy law removed from a Paris exhibition — this is not Egypt or Syria or Iraq or Saudi Arabia; this is France, the home of art, avant garde, expressionism, breaking artistic barriers. They’ve changed their policy because they’re frightened of what some Muslims might say?
SPENCER: Well, they’re afraid of what some Muslims might do, Michael, what they’re afraid of is that Islamic jihadis might strike them the way they struck at Charlie Hebdo. So what you have here is a victory of terrorism. The terrorists wanted France and the rest of the free world to conform to Islamic blasphemy law, and they showed that they are willing to kill to make that happen, and in response all too many Western institutions and activities like this one are curtailing their acts and conforming to Islamic blasphemy laws to avoid suffering the same fate. It is a collapse of courage on a massive scale.
COREN: What sort of artworks were so offensive?
SPENCER: There was an artwork of a woman who was stepping on a prayer mat with shoes and this is not allowed, shoes when you go into a mosque, and so this is considered to be so possibly disrespectful and inflammatory to Muslims that it was voluntarily removed by the people running the exhibit.
Winning through intimidation — that’s the Islam strategy. And it works because people know violence will follow if intimidation alone doesn’t do the trick.
