There are many American cities and towns that have been worn down by crime, open borders and globalization to utter devastation, so it is no small achievement to be judged as Number 1 Worst.

Below, Mendota in California’s Central Valley was 98.6 percent hispanic according to 2010 Census, with 50.3 percent foreign-born persons, 2013-2017.

Therefore the California Valley community of Mendota deserves attention, and it got a good look by Tucker Carlson on Friday. He observed that the town is dirt poor in the middle of an important agricultural area where a third of residents are farm workers, yet both parties in Washington want more cheap labor for the fields. He could have mentioned that more foreign workers are even less needed now and in the future because of agricultural robots coming on the scene.

If there’s one thing America doesn’t need, it’s more unskilled foreign workers of any legality.

And regarding the crime topic, it’s easy for foreign gangsters like the MS-13 bunch to get by in California, a sanctuary state where lawbreakers are normally left alone by the crime-friendly Democrats in charge.

Spare Audio:

TUCKER CARLSON: If you read the USA Today this morning, you may have seen the list of the 50 worst cities in America. In the highly non-coveted number one spot was a place called Mendota, California. It’s a town of about 11,000 outside Fresno in the Central Valley. It used to be the cantaloupe capital of the world but now, sadly in Mendota, pretty much all the numbers are depressing. The unemployment rate there is maybe the highest in the country. Half the city lives below the poverty line. The per capita income in Mendota is about $9,000 a year. Crime, not surprisingly, is completely out of control.

The former city manager of Mendota says the city is ground zero for MS-13 on the west coast. Last August the feds made more than two dozen arrests of MS-13 members. This was primarily in response to 16 recent murders in the area — it’s bad. The local police department is so outmatched by MS-13 that according to local media, gang members have been threatening individual cops by name and with impunity. It’s like another country.

So what’s so striking about this and so sad about it is it’s the opposite of what they promised. Here’s how — a third of Mendoza’s population is temporary farm workers. Both Republicans and Democrats in Washington are telling us right now that we need many more of those, and they’re pushing for it in secret talks at the White House. But if what they’re claiming is true, then why are there so many unemployed people in Mendota?

This is a city at the center of America’s most productive farmland. if you can’t get farm work in the Central Valley of California, there is a huge problem. We clearly have a major oversupply of low-skilled labor — we do — but we’re planning to import much more anyway because Democrats and the Chamber of Commerce want it?

Okay, we know what the net results are gonna be — more sad poor cities like Mendota. It’s lunacy. It’s horrible for the people who live there and for everyone else. Someone who cares about the country should say that because it’s true.

“Save the Suffering Centrals!” New York Times Pleads https://www.limitstogrowth.org/articles/2018/12/11/save-the-suffering-centrals-new-york-times-pleads/ Tue, 11 Dec 2018 20:54:43 +0000 https://www.limitstogrowth.org/?p=17214 On Tuesday, the New York Times presented the liberal case for opening the border to crime-ridden Central Americans by showing a murder scene plus a story about the normal violence there. The paper admitted “El Salvador has one of the highest homicide rates in Latin America — 60 killings per 100,000 residents,” but excessive crime is not a good reason for increased immigration in pursuit of liberals’ beloved rescue project.

The Times article showed a police officer investigating a crime in “a part of San Salvador controlled by MS-13.”

Naturally, Trump-bashing is integral to the story. Though alleged in the article, the president has never said that “all Salvadorans are gang members” as far as I can tell. In fact, he is sending $750,000 in US taxpayer money to the Central American crime hot spots to fight local violence.

A 2017 Department of Justice Fact Sheet there were more than 10,000 MS-13 gang members in the United States.

It should be remembered that President Obama knowingly admitted MS-13 gang members to America with his reckless policy of open borders to Central American aliens. It was totally predictable that when Obama allowed many thousands to Centrals to escape gang violence in their homelands, the gangsters would accompany them to the US.

Central American murder rates make Mexico look positively peaceful by comparison.

So yes, open borders have admitted thousands of diverse criminals to America. Uncontrolled immigration from Central America doesn’t rescue foreigners; it brings the whole swath of Centrals to the US, including criminals who prey largely on their fellow countrymen. And we taxpayers are hit with the criminal justice costs.

A Conflicted War: MS-13, Trump and America’s Stake in El Salvador’s Security, By Ali Watkins and Meridith Kohut, New York Times, December 10, 2018

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador — On a cloudy afternoon, Mayra Ayala shepherded her family along the winding footpaths of a hillside cemetery in Ilobasco, a town about 35 miles from the capital. The group of nine clambered over dozens of brightly painted mausoleums while descending to a purple tomb topped with three crosses.

Two years had passed since Ayala’s husband, José, and two of her sons — Vladimir, 21, and Douglas, 19 — were murdered by members of the street gang MS-13. José Ayala, a community leader in one of the gang’s strongholds, had routinely spoken with Ilobasco’s mayor and police officials, who were trained by U.S. advisers to build rapport with residents.

But to MS-13 leaders, those conversations signaled that José Ayala was an informant — an allegation his family denied. One morning in March 2016, they ambushed Ayala and his sons at the family’s tile workshop.

Mayra Ayala, 45, and most of her children are now in hiding, moving between homes in their old neighborhood. They are supported by her son Alexander, who survived the slaughter and is seeking asylum in the United States. She is ambivalent about America’s involvement in her country: One of its initiatives to combat gang violence destroyed her family, yet in many ways it has made the neighborhood safer.

“Talking to the police is a death sentence,” Ayala said. “But it is good to have the police at the districts, because if they weren’t here, we wouldn’t be alive.”

The United States has stepped up its engagement in the country over the past two years, dedicating hundreds of millions of dollars and dozens of law enforcement and military personnel to fighting the violent gangs that send so many Salvadorans fleeing to the U.S. border. The goal is to create a self-sufficient Salvadoran justice system. But the consequences of the effort are difficult to assess.

U.S. advisers are training the police officers who arrest gang members. U.S. dollars are building the prisons that hold them. At a U.S. facility in San Salvador, detectives are learning how to investigate crimes. It is part of a plan to send $750 million into Central America’s violent Northern Triangle — El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras — and one that, U.S. and Salvadoran officials say privately, would be disastrous to end.

President Donald Trump, though, has periodically threatened to walk away. He views MS-13 as a dangerous force in the United States but has expressed skepticism about the efforts to help root it out in El Salvador. Little more than a month ago, he pledged to pull U.S. support from the region.

Trump’s wavering commitment and fiery rhetoric — including claims that most Salvadoran immigrants are gang members in disguise — have at times endangered the fragile inroads his embassy has made in a region where U.S. involvement, dating back decades, has historically been viewed with suspicion.

“Not all Salvadorans belong to a gang; we are not MS-13,” Ayala said. “We are just poor.”

“President Trump is right to attack the MS,” she added. “We Salvadorans do need his support.” (Continues)

MS-13 Gang Infests Maryland Middle School https://www.limitstogrowth.org/articles/2018/06/12/ms-13-gang-infests-maryland-middle-school/ Wed, 13 Jun 2018 00:51:59 +0000 https://www.limitstogrowth.org/?p=16630 It would not be an overstatement to say the Washington Post is pro-immigration even toward persons of non-legal status or unfriendly cultures. So the pro-diversity editors must have been truly alarmed on Tuesday to front-page an MS-13 story about junior gangsters endangering a Maryland middle school.

It is a shocking idea to contemplate pre-teens attending a school where gang fights are a near-daily occurrence and some fellow students are pledged to a group whose motto is “rape, control, kill.” But this is what happens when open borders allow the worst criminals on earth to come to America.

A Maryland middle school has junior versions of these characters:

As Mark Krikorian wrote last February about the MS-13 “resurgence” under the Obama administration in Broken Windows (Immigration) Policing:

. . . Then came the Obama administration, which prohibited ICE agents from taking into custody any illegal aliens, even known gang members, for minor offenses or immigration violations. “ICE officers were no longer permitted to arrest and remove foreign gang members until they had been convicted of major crimes.” Gang arrests by ICE dropped by two-thirds from 2012 to 2014.

At the same time, the Obama administration facilitated a huge influx of Central American teenagers across the border, whom it released into the United States. The result? “Beginning in 2015, law enforcement agencies across the country began to express concerns about the renewal of MS-13 activity in a number of locations.” Among the locations experiencing the scourge of a revived MS-13 are the Washington, D.C., area and Long Island, N.Y.

Obama did enormous damage this country by unleashing immigration anarchy, and one place where the human cost can be seen is William Wirt Middle School in Riverdale, Maryland.

Parents, teachers, students fear gang activity at Maryland middle school, SFGate.com, By Michael E. Miller, The Washington Post, June 11, 2018

The boys had once been friends before MS-13 began recruiting one of them. Now, as other students streamed to class one April morning at William Wirt Middle School in Riverdale, Maryland, the two teens squared off in the third-story bathroom — a fight captured by another student on his cellphone.

The MS-13 recruit threw a punch at his former friend’s head. His opponent ducked and tackled the 15-year-old, their sneakers squealing as they tumbled to the green tile floor.

“I like that,” someone shouted off-camera as the recruit tried to cover his head.

“That look like it hurt,” someone wrote under the video, which was uploaded to Instagram on April 19 and has been viewed more than 400 times.

Gang-related fights are now a near-daily occurrence at Wirt, where a small group of suspected MS-13 members at the overwhelmingly Hispanic school throw gang signs, sell drugs, draw gang graffiti and aggressively recruit students recently arrived from Central America, according to more than two dozen teachers, parents and students. Most of those interviewed asked not to be identified for fear of losing their jobs or being targeted by MS-13.

Although administrators deny Wirt has a gang problem, the situation inside the aging, overcrowded building has left some teachers so afraid that they refuse to be alone with their students. Many said they had repeatedly reported incidents involving suspected gang members to administrators, only to be ignored — claims supported by documents obtained by The Washington Post.

“Teachers feel threatened but aren’t backed up. Students feel threatened but aren’t protected,” one educator said. “The school is a ticking time bomb.”

The gang’s presence at Wirt comes at a time when the Trump administration has declared war on MS-13, and communities throughout the country are confronting a surge in MS-13-related violence.

Nearly a dozen parents told The Post they were worried about gang activity at the school, which is located 10 miles from the White House. Many said they were intent on transferring their kids. Several said they were scared their children would be killed.

One eighth-grader said she had been raped in the fall by a schoolmate in MS-13 — an attack that took place off school property and that she reported to police, but then recanted out of fear of the gang. Prince George’s investigators concluded the report was unfounded, but the girl said she now lives in fear the gang will stab her as she leaves school.

“MS dominates the school,” she said. “But I don’t even tell the security guards what goes on anymore because they don’t seem to care.”

Rhonda Simley, the principal at Wirt, declined repeated requests for an interview.

“The principal is aware of concerns about gangs in the community, but has not experienced any problems in school,” Prince George’s County school system spokesman John White wrote in an email.

Prince George’s police, which has an officer stationed at the school, declined to discuss the allegations of gang activity.
