The New York Times is shocked and appalled that around 1500 of the city’s police have been shown “The Third Jihad,” a documentary produced by Zuhdi Jasser about the threat posed by the murderous ideology of Islam.

More generally, the Times is unhappy with the NYPD for its surveillance activities in mosques and Muslim neighborhoods required to keep the city safe from men who desire to mass murder infidels. Naturally the fifth column bunch at the Council of American Islamic Relations and elsewhere are actively working against homeland security in this country, and the liberal media is standing on their side rather than the safety of Americans.

The film shows hostile Muslims declaring their intention of conquering the entire world and controlling it according to the authoritarian sharia law of Islam. Every American should know Islam’s to-do list, and police officers even more so.

Below, a screen snap from the documentary.

Here is the film. If this link doesn’t work you can watch the documentary on the website The Third Jihad.

The Times complains that the film is “Dark” but the atmospherics are determined by the subject. Just because not every Muslim is a throat-slitting jihadist, the Times believes we should not discuss the millions worldwide who are.

Of course, diverse immigration that increasingly admits Muslims by the thousands every year has brought the threat into our own country. The press does not want to connect those dots at all.

In Police Training, a Dark Film on U.S. Muslims, New York Times, January 23, 2012

Ominous music plays as images appear on the screen: Muslim terrorists shoot Christians in the head, car bombs explode, executed children lie covered by sheets and a doctored photograph shows an Islamic flag flying over the White House.

“This is the true agenda of much of Islam in America,” a narrator intones. “A strategy to infiltrate and dominate America. … This is the war you don’t know about.”

This is the feature-length film titled “The Third Jihad,” paid for by a nonprofit group, which was shown to more than a thousand officers as part of training in the New York Police Department.

In January 2011, when news broke that the department had used the film in training, a top police official denied it, then said it had been mistakenly screened “a couple of times” for a few officers.

A year later, police documents obtained under the state’s Freedom of Information Law reveal a different reality: “The Third Jihad,” which includes an interview with Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly, was shown, according to internal police reports, “on a continuous loop” for between three months and one year of training.

During that time, at least 1,489 police officers, from lieutenants to detectives to patrol officers, saw the film.

News that police trainers showed this film so extensively comes as the department wrestles with its relationship with the city’s large Muslim community. The Police Department offers no apology for aggressively spying on Muslim groups and says it has ferreted out terror plots.

But members of the City Council, civil rights advocates and Muslim leaders say the department, in its zeal, has trampled on civil rights, blurred lines between foreign and domestic spying and sown fear among Muslims.

“The department’s response was to deny it and to fight our request for information,” said Faiza Patel, a director at the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University Law School, which obtained the release of the documents through a Freedom of Information request. “The police have shown an explosive documentary to its officers and simply stonewalled us.”

Tom Robbins, a former columnist with The Village Voice, first revealed that the police had screened the film. The Brennan Center then filed its request.

The 72-minute film was financed by the Clarion Fund, a nonprofit group whose board includes a former Central Intelligence Agency official and a deputy defense secretary for President Ronald Reagan. Its previous documentary attacking Muslims’ “war on the West” attracted support from the casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, a major supporter of Israel who has helped reshape the Republican presidential primary by pouring millions of dollars into a so-called super PAC that backs Newt Gingrich.

Commissioner Kelly is listed on the “Third Jihad” Web site as a “featured interviewee.” Paul J. Browne, the Police Department’s chief spokesman, wrote in an e-mail that filmmakers had lifted the clip from an old interview. The commissioner, Mr. Browne said, has not asked the filmmakers to remove him from its Web site, or to clarify that he had not cooperated with them.

None of the documents turned over to the Brennan Center make clear which police officials approved the showing of this film during training. Department lawyers blacked out large swaths of these internal memorandums.

Repeated calls over the past several days to the Clarion Fund, which is based in New York, were not answered. The nonprofit group shares officials with Aish HaTorah, an Israeli organization that opposes any territorial concessions on the West Bank. The producer of “The Third Jihad,” Raphael Shore, also works with Aish HaTorah.

Clarion’s financing is a puzzle. Its federal income tax forms show contributions, grants and revenues typically hover around $1 million annually — except in 2008, when it booked contributions of $18.3 million. That same year, Clarion produced “Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West.” The Clarion Fund used its surge in contributions to pay to distribute tens of millions of copies of this DVD in swing electoral states across the country in September 2008.

“The Third Jihad” is quite similar, in style and content, to that earlier film. Narrated by Zuhdi Jasser, a Muslim doctor and former American military officer in Arizona, “The Third Jihad” casts a broad shadow over American Muslims. Few Muslim leaders, it states, can be trusted.

“Americans are being told that many of the mainstream Muslim groups are also moderate,” Mr. Jasser states. “When in fact if you look a little closer, you’ll see a very different reality. One of their primary tactics is deception.”

The film posits that there were three jihads: One at the time of Muhammad, a second in the Middle Ages and a third that is under way covertly throughout the West today.

This is, the film claims, “the 1,400-year war.”

How the film came to be used in police training, and even for how long, was not clear. An undated memorandum from the department’s commanding officer for specialized training noted that an employee of the federal Department of Homeland Security handed the DVD to the New York police in January 2010. Since then, this officer said, the video was shown continuously “during the sign-in, medical and administrative orientation process.” A Department of Homeland Security spokesman said it was never used in its curriculum, and might have come from a contractor.

As it turned out, it was police officers who blew the whistle after watching the film. Late in 2010, Mr. Robbins contacted an officer who spoke of his unease with the film; another officer, said Zead Ramadan, the New York president of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, talked of seeing it during a training session the previous summer. “The officer was completely offended by it as a Muslim,” Mr. Ramadan said. “It defiled our faith and misrepresented everything we stood for.”

When the news broke about the movie last year, Mr. Browne called it a “wacky film” that had been shown “only a couple of times when officers were filling out paperwork before the actual course work began.”

He made no more public comments. Privately, two days later, he asked the Police Academy to determine whether a terrorism awareness training program had used the video, according to the documents.

The academy’s commander reported back on March 23, 2011, that the film had been viewed by 68 lieutenants, 159 sergeants, 31 detectives and 1,231 patrol officers. The department never made those findings public.

And just one week later, the Brennan Center officially requested the same information, starting what turned out to be a nine-month legal battle to obtain it.

“It suggests a broader problem that they refuse to divulge this information much less to discuss it,” Ms. Patel of the Brennan Center said. “The training of the world’s largest city police force is an important question.”

Mr. Browne said he had been unaware of the higher viewership of the film until asked about it by The New York Times last week.

There is the question of the officers who viewed the movie during training. Mr. Browne said the Police Department had no plans to correct any false impressions the movie might have left behind.

“There’s no plan to contact officers who saw it,” he said, or to “add other programming as a result.”

In Britain, hostile Muslims have been marking territory for a while, declaring areas of high infestation “sharia zones” to state their future plans. More recently, some Muslim decided to hand out leaflets, urging their fellow religionists to kill gay people, as Islam recommends.

Loudmouth jihadist Anjem Choudary has said openly that gays should be stoned to death, and he is not the only one.

Considering how much coddling of Muslims has gone on in Britain, it is rather amazing that this case was prosecuted at all.

The three men who distributed leaflets by hand and into mailboxes were tried under an expansion of the hate crime law to make it apply to gay people along with race or religion. They could get up to seven years hard time.

I’m not a lawyer and find the term “hate crime” to be overused, but when Muslims try to incite murder because Allah says to, then government needs to smack down the perps. It would be better not to welcome Muslims into one’s country in the first place, since they are such a poor bet for socialization, but Britain is long past that point now.

Muslim men first to be found guilty of sex hate crime, Daily Telegraph, January 20, 2012

The men distributed a leaflet that said Islam called for anyone caught committing homosexuality to be executed.

They were convicted by a jury at Derby Crown Court of distributing threatening written material intending to stir up hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation.

The case is the first prosecution of its kind since legislation came into force in March 2010.

Ihjaz Ali, Kabir Ahmed and Razwan Javed handed out the pamphlet, called “The Death Penalty?” which showed an image of a mannequin hanging from a noose and quoted Islamic texts that said capital punishment was the only way to rid society of homosexuality.

Mehboob Hussain and Umar Javed, who were also charged with the same offence, were found not guilty by the jury.

Bobbie Cheema, prosecuting, had told jurors: “In this country we have many freedoms. Sometimes we take them for granted perhaps. Our legal system gives us rights and protects those rights. When individuals are charged with serious criminal offences a jury has to hear the evidence, consider the issues and decide whether guilt has been proven, your presence here is one of the ways in which our rights are protected.

“One of the ways in which we organise our society can be summed up in the common phrase, ‘live and let live’. This case is all about the antithesis of that approach to life.

The charges related to one of a series of three leaflets distributed and a fourth not distributed. One was entitled Turn or Burn and featured a burning person in a lake of fire as an image of hell.

The leaflets were distributed after Friday prayers and were part of a protest mounted by a group of Muslim men against the Gay Pride parade due to take place on 10th July, 2010.

Ali had told police he wanted to advertise a Muslim protest against the parade by distributing flyers. Ali was urged by police to take legal advice to ensure the contents of the flyers would not cause offence.

Ali had organised the distribution of the professionally produced colour leaflets and the others were arrested for distributing them.

Ahmed, a father-of-one, told the court he handed out the leaflets as part of his religious beliefs.

He said: “It was my duty as a Muslim to spread what God says about homosexuality.

“The references on the leaflets are historical facts and quote from the Koran.”

Miss Cheema warned the jury: “This case is not about an interference with the defendants’ freedom of religion or freedom to express their religious views in an attempt to education or inform.

“The vast majority of Muslims and indeed other religious people or people with no religion but who have firm views about homosexuality are able to express their views if they wish to in a lawful, moderate and self-controlled way. The Death Penalty leaflet goes well beyond any such temperate discussion.”

Muslim immigration to the West has brought an assortment of barbaric social practices we could well do without, particularly crimes against women. The worst is the murder of insufficiently subservient women (aka honor killing), a practice which is accepted in Islamic nations, but not so much in America and Europe.

For some reason, Muslim immigrants think they can behave as if they were back in their dar al-Islam backwater. Didn’t they read the immigration brochure and the part about obeying US laws?

Stubborn foreign misogynists should consult Islamo-jailbirds who learned the cost of their actions, like wife beheader Muzzammil Hassan and daughter killer Faleh Almaleki. Both are doing hard time for importing Islamic savagery to America.

Say, maybe we would be better off without Muslim immigration and the objectionable diversity they bring.

Below, reporter Dale Hurd notes how honor killing in the West is on the rise.

Islamic ‘Honor Violence’ Rising in the West, CBN, January 4, 2012

BARCELONA, LONDON, and PARIS – As Muslims migrate to the West, and more Muslim young people adopt Western ways, honor violence is increasing.

Warning: this report contains some disturbing scenes that should not be viewed by children.

• A Canadian woman was strangled by her father because she refused to wear a headscarf.

• An Italian had her throat slit by her dad while she was held down by three uncles.

• An American woman was run over by her father in his Jeep Cherokee.

• Two sisters were shot by their father in a New York taxi.

They were all the victims of honor violence. They may have defied the wishes of their parents, or adopted Western ways, or tried to leave Islam.

They did something that, in the eyes of their families, brought shame and dishonor.

So they were killed. Many were tortured first.

Honor Killing on the Rise

The precise number of honor attacks worldwide is unknown because many are not reported, or are reported as accidents or suicides. But one new report said 3,000 honor attacks were committed in Britain last year alone.

Norwegian activist Hege Storhaug left journalism to devote her life to helping the victims of honor violence after doing a story about a Norwegian girl who was forced to marry her cousin from Pakistan.

“I was astonished when she said, ‘My parents were willing to kill me if I didn’t enter this marriage, to protect their own honor,” Storhaug said.

Storhaug showed us graphic photos of Pakistani women who had acid thrown in their faces by their husbands’ family because they did not bring a big enough dowry to the marriage.

Storhaug said the families then typically say the woman had been burned on a hot stove:

“A mother-in-law was sitting at the bedside, guarding the tongue of the young woman so she didn’t tell the truth about how she was burned, and it was the family who did it,” she explained. “And the faces of those mothers-in-law…there was no empathy, no compassion.”

Women in Danger

Although honor violence is sometimes committed by Hindus and Sikhs, it is usually a Muslim on Muslim crime. One study found that 91 percent of honor killings were committed by Muslims.

Women who break with traditional Islam often face grave danger:

CBN News interviewed one young woman who came to study in Paris after growing up in a Muslim nation.

Because she rejected Islam and Islamic rules about women, she told us that the only way she could ever safely return to her homeland is if she were to pretend to be a traditional, submissive Muslim woman.

“For them a person who goes out of the sect or the community or the group is a traitor. I would be safe if I played the game,” she explained.

“You have to apologize for everything and say, ‘Yes, I am coming back to slavery. I want to be a slave again. I am a slave and happy to be a slave,’” she said. “This is how it works.”

Activist Gina Khan in Britain has been a national spokeswoman against honor violence and Islamic radicalism. Khan left an abusive arranged marriage and had to move to a secret location because of threats.

“You’re at risk, if you speak out,” Khan said. “You can be attacked. I’m aware of that. But there comes a time when silence becomes a guilt, a sin.”

Leaving Islam, Losing All

When a Muslim decides to leave Islam, the situation can range from complicated to deadly. Some are so burned out on the idea of “God” that they want nothing to do with religion for the rest of their lives.

At a Spanish church for ex-Muslims, the congregation is small, in part, because the pastor says there is so much social control within Muslim communities in Europe that leaving Islam simply is not an option many Muslims take seriously.

The pastor, who did not want his identity revealed, said many Muslims fear losing everything if they convert to Christianity.

He said the mentality is: “‘I have my community and I have to integrate and belong, and I cannot leave that.’

“So I’ve found that they don’t have in their minds the option of being Christians,” he said.

No Happy Life

And honor violence is only a part of the enormous control that Islamic belief exerts over the minds of women and young people.

After years of Western governments denying that honor violence was a problem, laws are now being passed to stop it.

But within Muslim communities in Europe and America, women often still do not have full rights and their lives are still at risk.

The young former Muslim woman in Paris told us that in Islam, “Women are treated as half human. Legally speaking they are minors their whole life.”

But are those women still somehow happy?

“No,”she said. “Have you seen their faces? They are miserable. When you don’t live in freedom you are miserable.”

One of the most awful Christmas crimes in recent years was the massacre of six family members shot down in the midst of opening presents by a gunman wearing a Santa Claus outfit. It has taken a couple days for the identities and possible motivation to take shape.

The shooter was an Iranian Muslim immigrant, Aziz Yazdanpanah, who was an estranged husband, a realtor living in a foreclosed house, who was apparently angry with his daughter Nona (pictured) for dating a non-Muslim and his wife for leaving the marriage.

The Associated Press coverage (Authorities identify dead in Christmas shootings) emphasized the killer’s financial and marital troubles as explaining his actions. Those difficulties surely added to Yazdanpanah’s stress, but a Muslim man who is not exercising control over the females in his family can be a very dangerous character. (One example is the “moderate” Muslim, Muzzammil Hassan of Buffalo NY, who beheaded his wife when she decided to divorce him.)

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported on Monday that “the family was Muslim but celebrated Christmas as a cultural holiday” (Couple in deadly Grapevine shooting had recently split).

Perhaps the shooter was further irritated by his family’s drift away from Islam. He could have blown away his family on any day of the year, but chose Christmas for maximum effect and several extra victims, who were relatives of his wife. Under extreme stress, people may pull back into earlier beliefs and behavior. For Yazdanpanah, that might have meant a massive honor killing, going out as a traditional Muslim man.

That’s my supposition, of course, but immigration is a very stressful endeavor even in the best of times, and this is not one of those. Muslims in particular may not have bargained for the degree of freedom offered to women in this culture which can be challenging to Islamic family life.

Not all strands of diversity can be woven together. Muslims keep telling us westerners that with their hostile behavior, but we aren’t listening very well. Lee Kuan Yew, the architect of modern diverse Singapore, declared, “I would say today, we can integrate all religions and races except Islam.”

JihadWatch posts an important article from the Dallas Morning News (“Neighbors horrified at news of family’s slayings in Grapevine,” — available only with subscription). The emotional difficulties of the family appear toward the end:

Islamic honor killing in Texas: “Santa” who murdered family on Christmas morning was Muslim who didn’t like his daughter dating a non-Muslim [. . .]

GRAPEVINE — Aziz Yazdanpanah seemed to be losing control of his life in recent months — his wife left him, his house was in foreclosure, and his 19-year-old daughter was dating a young man he didn’t like.

Even so, the 58-year-old former real estate agent from Colleyville seemed to be holding it together. Neighbors say he would smile and wave as he drove through his middle-class neighborhood. Recently, he was seen raking leaves in his yard.

“He was very friendly, a very good neighbor,” said Carrie Stewart, who lives across the street. “He was out here often doing yard work and he even watched our house for us when we went to Colorado.”

Yazdanpanah, a volunteer high school debate coach described as a doting father, is the focus of suspicion a day after a Christmas morning massacre in which a man dressed as Santa Claus killed six relatives and then committed suicide.

Grapevine police arrived at the Lincoln Vineyard Apartment Homes a few minutes before noon and discovered bodies sprawled among opened presents and wrapping paper. The victims were ages 15 to 58….

Citing public records and interviews with friends and neighbors, media reports Monday identified Yazdanpanah and others who had died: his estranged 55-year-old wife, Fatemeh Rahmati, their 19-year-old daughter, Nona Narges Yazdanpanah, and 15-year-old son, Ali Yazdanpanah.

Friends of the family said Fatemeh Rahmati’s 58-year-old sister, Zohreh Rahmaty, and her husband, Hossein Zarei, 59, and daughter Sahra Zarei, a 22-year-old pre-med student at the University of Texas at Arlington, also were killed.

Grapevine police Lt. Todd Dearing said investigators were working to piece together a timeline of the murders, but they may never know exactly what set off the gunman.

“Motive is not really the primary point right now,” Dearing said. “It’s more along the lines of what happened, how it transpired and making sure that who we believe to be the shooter is the shooter. Motive is what comes afterward for us if we can get it.”

He said a neighbor at the apartment complex saw the suspected shooter get out of his white sport utility vehicle dressed in a Santa outfit, including a full coat, pants, boots and belt. Based in part on that witness account, police believe the shootings occurred about the time a 911 call rang into the station at 11:34 a.m. Sunday.

The line was silent….

Grapevine police also searched the Colleyville home where Aziz Yazdanpanah had been living since he separated from his wife last spring. Public records show that the couple had filed for bankruptcy in 2010 and that the property was in foreclosure….

Yazdanpanah said he bought a gun after expressing concern that his daughter’s boyfriend was stalking him. He also insisted on picking up his daughter from her job at a phone kiosk inside Sam’s Club in Grapevine because of concerns about the alleged stalker.

The boyfriend has not been publicly identified.

Neighbors said the family was Muslim but had always hung Christmas lights on their home — except this year.

Terri Baum, who lives three homes down from Yazdanpanah, said she had seen him around the neighborhood in the last couple of weeks.

“They were pretty quiet, but kind, very kind,” Baum said. “They were sweet, good parents, and they loved their kids very much.”

Baum’s daughter, Allison, attended Colleyville Heritage High School with Nona, where the girls were part of an academic team focused on developing business leaders. They graduated together in May.

“Allison would take her to school from here, and then when they moved out she would pick her up from the apartments,” Baum said. “It’s unbelievable because of the people we knew them to be, and their children were good kids, very focused.”

Baum said she was horrified at the possibility the killings had been a murder-suicide.

“All I want to say is, it is so unbelievably shocking because they loved their kids,” Baum said.

But a more ominous portrait emerged of Yazdanpanah in interviews with some of his daughter’s other classmates.

“She would come to school crying and telling us her dad was crazy,” said Lacie Reed, 18. “He wouldn’t let her wear certain things. He was always taking her phone away, checking her call history and checking her text messages.”

Friends said Nona’s father had installed cameras all around the home so he could watch the family’s comings and goings. Others said he nailed her bedroom window shut so she could not sneak out at night and see her boyfriend.

“She couldn’t date at all until she was a certain age, but when he was going to let her date she couldn’t date anyone outside of their race or religion,” Reed said.

Yiselle Alvarenga, 18, said Nona’s mother and brother seemed to come to her aid when her father punished her.

“He would take her phone away and her mother would give it back to her and her brother would let her use his phone,” Alvarenga said. “She was doing good. She was just excited that her life was going to start and she was going to have control of it.”…

Hostile Muslims can be efficient fellows when they plot to mass-murder Christians and other non-Islamics. The Sons of Allah use the Christian calendar to plot their massacres and increase the body count. For example, Egyptian Muslims bombed a Coptic church last New Year’s Eve, killing 21.

Nigeria has a history of religious violence since it is split demographically and geographically with mostly Muslims inhabiting the north. Last June, for example, Boko Haram (the accused group in the current atrocity) bombed a packed beer garden on a Sunday afternoon, killing 25.

Winning through intimidation (and mass murder) is an Islamic custom of long standing: non-believers must convert or die. Boko Haram is the regional Islamist flavor working to institute worldwide totalitarian sharia law.

White House Condemns Nigeria Terror Attack, Fox News, December 25, 2011

LAGOS, Nigeria – The White House on Sunday issued a statement offering condolences to those affected by the coordinated terror attacks in Nigeria that left at least 39 people dead, with the majority dying on the steps of a Catholic church after celebrating Christmas mass.

“We condemn this senseless violence and tragic loss of life on Christmas Day. We offer our sincere condolences to the Nigerian people and especially those who lost family and loved ones. We have been in contact with Nigerian officials about what initially appear to be terrorist acts and pledge to assist them in bringing those responsible to justice,” White House said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Nigerian authorities acknowledged they could not bring enough emergency medical personnel to care for the wounded outside St. Theresa Catholic Church in Madalla near Nigeria’s capital. Elsewhere, a bomb exploded amid gunfire in the central Nigerian city of Jos and a suicide car bomber attacked the military in the nation’s northeast as part of an apparently coordinated assault by the sect known as Boko Haram.

The Christmas Day violence, denounced by world leaders and the Vatican, shows the threat of the widening insurrection posed by Boko Haram against Nigeria’s weak central government. Despite a recent paramilitary crackdown against the sect in the oil-rich nation, it appears that Africa’s most populous nation remains unable to stop the threat.

“These are cowardly attacks on families gathered in peace and prayer to celebrate a day which symbolizes harmony and goodwill towards others,” Britain’s Foreign Secretary William Hague said in a statement.

The first explosion on Sunday struck St. Theresa Catholic Church just after 8 a.m. The attack killed 35 people and wounded another 52, said Slaku Luguard, a coordinator with Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency.

Though billions of dollars of oil money flow into the nation’s budget yearly, Luguard’s agency could only send text messages to journalists asking for their help in getting more ambulances.

Those wounded filled the cement floors of a nearby government hospital, with television images showing them crying in pools of their own blood. Corpses lined an open-air morgue.

The bombing and the delayed response drew anger from those gathering around the church after the blast. The crowd initially blocked emergency workers from the blast site, only allowing them in after soldiers arrived.

“We’re trying to calm the situation,” Luguard said. “There are some angry people around trying to cause problems.”

In Jos, a second explosion struck near the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Church, state government spokesman Pam Ayuba said. Gunmen later opened fire on police guarding the area, killing one officer, he said. Two other locally made explosives were found in a nearby building and disarmed.

By noon on Sunday, explosions echoed through the streets of Damaturu, the capital of Yobe state where fighting between security forces and the sect already had killed at least 61 people in recent days. The most serious attack on Sunday came when a suicide bomber detonated a car loaded with explosives at the state headquarters of Nigeria’s secret police, the State Security Service.

The bomber killed three people in the blast, though the senior military commander apparently targeted survived the attack, the State Security Service said in a statement.

After the bombings, a Boko Haram spokesman using the nom de guerre Abul-Qaqa claimed responsibility for the attacks in an interview with The Daily Trust, the newspaper of record across Nigeria’s Muslim north. The sect has used the newspaper in the past to communicate with public.

Boko Haram has carried out increasingly sophisticated and bloody attacks in its campaign to implement strict Shariah law across Nigeria, a multiethnic nation of more than 160 million people.

The group, whose name means “Western education is sacrilege” in the local Hausa language, is responsible for at least 504 killings this year alone, according to an Associated Press count.

This Christmas attack comes a year after a series of Christmas Eve bombings in Jos claimed by the militants left at least 32 dead and 74 wounded. The group also claimed responsibility for the Aug. 26 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Nigeria’s capital Abuja that killed 24 people and wounded 116 others.

The sect came to national prominence in 2009, when its members rioted and burned police stations near its base of Maiduguri, a dusty northeastern city on the cusp of the Sahara Desert.

Nigeria’s military violently put down the attack, crushing the sect’s mosque into shards as its leader was arrested and died in police custody. About 700 people died during the violence.

While initially targeting enemies via hit-and-run assassinations from the back of motorbikes after the 2009 riot, violence by Boko Haram now has a new sophistication and apparent planning that includes high-profile attacks with greater casualties. That has fueled speculation about the group’s ties as it has splintered into at least three different factions, diplomats and security sources say.

They say the more extreme wing of the sect maintains contact with terror groups in North Africa and Somalia.

Targeting the group has remained difficult, as sect members are scattered throughout northern Nigeria and nearby Cameroon, Chad and Niger. Analysts say political considerations also likely play a part in the country’s thus-far muted response: President Goodluck Jonathan, a Christian from the south, may be hesitant to use force in the nation’s predominantly Muslim north.

In a statement, Jonathan condemned the blasts as a “unwarranted affront on our collective safety and freedom.”

“I want to reassure all Nigerians that government will not relent in its determination to bring to justice all the perpetrators of today’s acts of violence and all others before now,” Jonathan said.

However, Jonathan has made the same promises after a series of spiraling attacks by the group. His spokesman, Reuben Abati, defended the president by saying the country planned to spend more on security and had made arrests targeting the group.

“The administration is very determined to address this new threat of terrorism that seems to have slipped into our environment,” Abati told the AP.

But anger continues to grow over the sect’s apparent ability to strike at will — anger that could be seen at St. Theresa Catholic Church. After the blast, someone picked up a burnt piece of wood to scrawl: “Revolution now in the country” on its cement walls.

Over in Pakistan, the Allah-bots are marching to declare their hatred of the United States.

“Peace with Jihad” reads one sign in the Lahore rally (shown below in the video). We know what that means — submission for infidels under Islamic sharia law. Muslims are all for peace, as long as it is according to their Islo-supremacist terms.

A number of people, including some Republican Presidential candidates, have complained about the idiocy of sending $2 billion annually to a country that is clearly not our friend. A November Rasmussen survey found that 65 percent of voters polled want to end aid to Pakistan.

Stopping foreign aid sent to hostiles countries is a good idea, but why stop there? Why not end immigration from Pakistan and other unfriendlies while Washington is at it? There were more than 210,000 Pakistanis residing in the US as of 2005, according to the Census.

Pakistanis have been well represented as jihadists in America, including Najibulla Zazi (who planned a bomb in Brooklyn), Faisal Shahzad (the Times Square bomber), Umer Hayat and his US-born son Hamid (the family jihadists located in Lodi) — to name but a few. Pakistani diversity has done nothing positive for America.

They don’t like us, they really don’t like us. Why admit them as immigrants?

30,000 Gather in Pakistan for Anti-US Protest, KCEN TV, December 18, 2011

(KCEN) — Tension between Pakistan and the United States rose Sunday when a rally led by 30,000 protesters took place in the city of Lahore.

The anti-US protest was in support of the 24 Pakistani soldiers killed in a November NATO attack.

Smaller protests also took place in other Pakistan cities.

Despite condolences offered by the United States, Pakistan decided recently to close its Afghanistan border to any crossing NATO supplies. It also banned U.S. involvement at a Pakistani airbase.

Pakistan has been criticized by the U.S. in the past for not aggressively going after Taliban fighters habitating in the border region of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Foreign relations between the United States and Pakistan have been shaky since the U.S. capture of Osama Bin Laden in a populated region, a feat the Pakistani army was unable to accomplish.

Pakistan has also been previously accused of helping the militant Haqqani network attack U.S. troops stationed in Afghanistan.

On Sunday, the Simpsons show had an episode portraying a wacky future in which Bart is a layabout bum, Lisa is married to Milhouse with a snotty teenaged daughter and Maggie is an international rock star. For a brief moment, there was an offhand reference to Michigan being a sharia state, with Milhouse in a burqa.

Naturally, the fifth columnists at the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) jumped on the mention, trying to frame it to their advantage. A Twitter burp from CAIR proclaimed, ‪Video: Simpsons Episode Mocks Anti-Sharia Hysteria‬. That was hardly my impression, but check it out.

The Learning Channel (TLC) has been broadcasting a reality show called All-American Muslim that presents the Allah people as just like any other immigrants, with no reference to annoying terrorism, the 9/11 attacks or the Fort Hood massacre, to name a few Islamic behaviors.

Of course, not all Muslims are active blasters, but we don’t know how many would prefer a sharia America either. No pollster wants to ask, apparently. Forty percent of Muslims residing in Britain say they want sharia law in the UK, so it’s not unreasonable to assume a similar portion in this country.

Objections from traditional Americans about the show’s Islo-propaganda has caused a number of sponsors to pull their advertising.

But a California Democrat, Senator Ted Lieu, has threatened to pursue unspecified “legislative action” if one advertiser who pulled advertising — Lowe’s home improvement stores — doesn’t apologize to the sensitive Muslims and reinstate its ads.

As an immigrant, perhaps Sen. Lieu hasn’t yet heard of the First Amendment which protects free expression by both individuals and businesses. Whatever the reason, his authoritarian meddling is unwelcome and completely improper. Contact info for Lieu is here.

Below, the characters in TLC’s “All-American Muslim” are presented as bomb-free, diverse and wholesome.

Calif. senator threatens boycott over Lowe’s ads, Associated Press, December 11, 2011

A state senator from Southern California was considering calling for a boycott of Lowe’s stores after the home improvement chain pulled its advertising from a reality show about Muslim-Americans.

Calling the retail giant’s decision “un-American” and “naked religious bigotry,” Sen. Ted Lieu, D-Torrance, told The Associated Press on Sunday that he would also consider legislative action if Lowe’s doesn’t apologize to Muslims and reinstate its ads. The senator sent a letter outlining his complaints to Lowe’s Chief Executive Officer Robert A. Niblock.

The retail giant stopped advertising on TLC’s “All-American Muslim” after a group called the Florida Family Association complained the show was “propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda’s clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values.”

The program premiered last month and chronicles the lives of five families from Dearborn, Mich., a Detroit suburb with a large Muslim and Arab-American population.

“The show is about what it’s like to be a Muslim in America, and it touches on the discrimination they sometimes face. And that kind of discrimination is exactly what’s happening here with Lowe’s,” Lieu said.

The Florida group sent three emails to its members, asking them to petition Lowe’s to pull its advertising. Its website was updated to say that “supporters’ emails to advertisers make a difference.”

Suehaila Amen, whose family is featured on “All-American Muslim,” said she was disappointed by the Lowe’s decision.

“I’m saddened that any place of business would succumb to bigots and people trying to perpetuate their negative views on an entire community,” Amen, 32, told The Detroit News on Sunday.

Lowe’s issued a statement Sunday apologizing for having “managed to make some people very unhappy.” The North Carolina-based company did not say whether it would reinstate advertising on the show.

The apology doesn’t go far enough, Lieu said. The senator vowed to look into whether Lowe’s violated any California laws and said he would also consider drafting a senate resolution condemning the company’s actions.

“We want to raise awareness so that consumers will know during this holiday shopping season that Lowe’s is engaging in religious discrimination,” he said.

In addition to an apology and reinstatement of the ads, Lieu said he hoped Lowe’s would make an outreach to the community about bias and bigotry.

A call to Lowe’s headquarters seeking comment about the boycott threat was not immediately returned Sunday.

“Individuals and groups have strong political and societal views on this topic, and this program became a lightning rod for many of those views,” the company’s statement said. “As a result we did pull our advertising on this program. We believe it is best to respectfully defer to communities, individuals and groups to discuss and consider such issues of importance.”

Lieu’s office said a decision was expected Wednesday or Thursday on whether to proceed with the boycott.

Dawud Walid, Michigan director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said his group felt “extreme disappointment” at Lowe’s “capitulation to bigotry.”

Walid said he has heard expressions of anger and calls for a boycott by Muslims but said a key to resolving the Lowe’s advertising controversy will be how non-Muslim religious leaders and others react to Lowe’s decision.

“I will be picking up the phone tomorrow to some of our friends and allies to explain the situation to them,” Walid said Sunday.

Over in the east-African nation of Kenya, the local folks are not exactly celebrating diversity with the influx of Somali immigrants. The capital city of Nairobi has its own “Little Mogadishu” neighborhood (just like Minneapolis!).

One reason for Kenyan suspicion of Somalis is the fear of the Islamist group al Shabaab (pictured) which busies itself in Somalia with murdering for Allah according to sharia precepts. Nobody wants a potential head-chopper moving in next door.

As a result of the suspicion, Somalis complain about “Somali-phobia.” (Will Islamo-phobia be next?) Somalis have a high regard for themselves and can’t understand the unfriendliness. One immigrant lamented, “Kenya is our second country,” but now they are treated like foreigners.

National Public Radio reported on the tense situation, but curiously didn’t criticize the Kenyans as being “unwelcoming” or xenophobic. Why not? Someone should tell the Kenyans that Somali diversity is enriching.

Tension Runs High In Kenya’s ‘Little Mogadishu’, NPR, November 19, 2011

In the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, they call the Eastleigh neighborhood “Little Mogadishu” because it is home to so many Somali-Kenyans and Somali immigrants and refugees.

Last month, Kenya launched a military incursion into Somalia, vowing to crush the al-Qaida-linked Islamist group al-Shabab. Kenyan authorities say they will drive out supporters of the Islamist militants who are within their own borders — including in Little Mogadishu.

Now Kenya’s Somali community feels it has become the target of a security crackdown.

Kenya blames al-Shabab insurgents, who are fighting their own administration in Somalia — and now Kenyan troops in the country’s south — for a recent wave of kidnappings of Westerners inside Kenya. The Islamist group has not claimed responsibility.

The anti-Western al-Shabab group warns that Kenyans will “taste fire” for their government’s military operations, prompting an aggressive official Kenyan response.
Somalis have been accused of laundering millions of dollars of ransom money, collected by pirates who hijack ships. Little Mogadishu has seen a building boom, though the allegation — which was investigated by the Kenyan government — has never been substantiated.

Kenya says it suspects al-Shabab has underground networks operating inside Kenya.

Concerns About Discrimination
Orwa Ojode, a deputy Kenyan minister for internal security, recently told Parliament that al-Shabab was like a snake — “with its tail in Somalia and its head in Eastleigh” — i.e., in Little Mogadishu.

Somali-Kenyans say they feel they are victims of discrimination and their political representatives are calling for restraint.

Aden Duale, a Somali-Kenyan member of Parliament, warns, “If you have a criminal, look for individual criminals, because sometimes we hear … it’s very easy to assume all Somalis are al-Shabab.”

Duale is concerned by what many consider a blanket threat by Kenya’s government, after the abductions of foreign tourists and aid workers in Kenya. He says the Somali community is caught in the middle and is appealing to the government to “distinguish between the criminals and the ordinary citizens,”

“That distinction should be very clear,” he says.

A Feeling Of ‘Somali-Phobia’
The streets of Nairobi’s Little Mogadishu are generally hectic. Eastleigh is a bustling neighborhood, trading in cheap imports. Shops, businesses, restaurants and mosques bear Somali and Muslim names.

But many Somalis fear possible arrest by the police, as well as hostility from some Kenyans, laments Munyadeen Roble.

“Like when you are walking on the streets of Nairobi, or when you’re in a public bus, people will look at you bad and say, ‘Shabab,’” the Somali immigrant says.

He says he feels mounting “Somali-phobia,” hearing things like, “Hey, is that al-Shabab? This man, is he al-Shabab? Is he going to do something?”

Roble says it makes “you feel bad, when people is talking to you as [if you are] al-Shabab” — as if the Somali community automatically supports the militant group. Especially, he says, when this is a group that “made you flee from your country.”

After two grenade attacks in Nairobi last month, hate messages against Somalis were posted on social media sites. The hate posts dwindled after a non-Somali Kenyan was arrested, tried and sentenced to life in prison.

Ahmed Aden, a Kenyan of Somali origin, says he is being marginalized by his own government and police force. He believes they are not doing enough to protect the Somali community.

“I feel that whether I have the right identification, whether I have the citizenship, they do discriminate [against] me,” he says. “I feel I don’t belong here.”

A History Of Tension
There is history behind this current antagonism. Tension between Somali-Kenyans and other ethnic groups in Kenya dates back to Kenya’s independence from Britain in 1963.

Between then and 1967, Somali-Kenyans in the northeast attempted to secede and join neighboring Somalia. In a violent crackdown, the Kenyan government snuffed out the breakaway bid and many innocent people were caught in the crossfire.

From 1979-89, massacres were reported in the region and blamed on Kenyan government troops sent to curb banditry and clashes between rival ethnic groups.
But Roble, the Somali refugee, says he and others fled lawless Somalia looking for peace and security in Kenya.

“We Somali refugees living here in Kenya, we came here to get peace. It is good for us to have a peaceful Kenya. Kenya is our second country,” he says. “Before these attacks, we were not feeling as foreigners. But now we feel as foreigners.”

A Different Perspective
Not all the Somali community feels put-upon. After prayers at the mosque in Little Mogadishu, veiled women selling frothy white camel’s milk on the dusty sidewalk had their own opinions about the Kenya-Somalia crisis.

Sitting on stools and giant yellow containers, they’re not keen to have their comments recorded. Most are too shy to talk publicly. However, 16-year-old Somali schoolgirl Layla Ahmed, wearing a serious smile and a fluffy white scarf wrapped around her head and neck, readily shared her views about al-Shabab and the Kenyan military adventure.

“We are happy that they are getting al-Shabab out of Somalia,” she says. “People have a difficult life and are running from there. And we are grateful to Kenyans if they are helping us to get al-Shabab out of our country.”

The Kenyan army has not indicated how long it will remain in southern Somalia. But the Somali and Kenyan governments stress they are working in tandem, along with international support, to restore peace to chronically unstable Somalia and drive out al-Shabab insurgents from both countries.
