It’s not news that immigrants from misogynous societies bring their retro attitudes and customs with them to America. In 2001, the New York Times reported on sex-selection abortion among Indians and Chinese immigrants: Clinics’ Pitch to Indian Émigrés: It’s a Boy.

Sex-selection abortions are used to dispose of unwanted girls, a common practice in Asia, where females are despised, even in the 21st century. A recent estimate of the accumulation is stunning: Asia’s 163 Million Missing Girls (Daily Beast, June 21).

Rep. Trent Franks has picked up on the issue as a thinly veiled way to stop all abortions. As reported by Fox News (Abortion Battle Heats Up on the Hill), he made an illogical argument:

He points to a finding by the Guttmacher Institute: “…the abortion rate for black women is almost five times that for white women.” Franks also believes that sex-selection abortions are on the rise in the U.S. and notes a Zogby International poll that found 86 percent of those surveyed believed gender-based abortion choices should be illegal.

Black women are not choosing to abort girls, so what they are doing is NOT sex-selection abortion. The Fox report did not mention the immigration cause at all, and was very misleading. The AP article at least discussed the extreme Asian cultural preference for boys, although without the dreaded “I” word.

Watch the latest video at video.foxnews.com

If Trent Franks objected to just sex-selection abortion (rather than all abortion), he should have proposed legislation to end immigration from China and India, the two biggest practitioners. They are the tribes that have brought this barbarity to America, where women fought for 70 years just to get the vote and now have equal opportunity under the law. Importing millions who regard women as lesser beings does not bode well for women’s rights and safety in the diverse future.

Here’s another account of misogynous immigrants, which adopts the Franks logic midway through:

Sex-Selective Abortions Come Home, By Steven W. Mosher, National Review, December 6, 2011

“There is such a thing as too many daughters, but not too many sons,” Dr. Sunita Puri was told by the Asian-Indian women she was interviewing.

The physician, who practices in the Bay Area, wanted to find out why so many immigrant Indian women in the United States were so eager to find out the sex of their unborn children, and why so many of them choose abortion when they found out they were carrying a girl.

What she discovered over the course of 65 interviews conducted over several years profoundly shocked her. Fully 89 percent of the women carrying girls opted for an abortion, and nearly half had previously aborted girls.

Puri’s report, published in Social Science and Medicine this last April, makes for grim reading. Women told Puri of their guilt over their sex-selection abortions, how they felt that they were unable to “save” their daughters. Even the women who turned out to be carrying boys this time around could not shake their remorse over having earlier aborted daughters in this deadly game of reproductive roulette.

They also made clear that they were not free actors when it came to reproductive “choice.” Many, when it was learned that they were carrying girls, became the victims of family violence. Some — in an effort to make them miscarry — had been slapped and shoved around by angry husbands and in-laws, or even kicked in the stomach. Others were denied food, water, and rest in order to coerce them into aborting their unwanted girl babies.

Whether such brutality is common is an open question. That sex-selective abortion is widely practiced among certain Asian-American communities is not.

Jason Abrevaya of the University of Texas analyzed U.S. birth data and found unusually high boy-birth percentages after 1980 among later children (most notably third and fourth children) born to Chinese and Asian-Indian mothers.

Moreover, using maternally linked data from California, he found that Asian-Indian mothers are significantly more likely both to have a terminated pregnancy and to give birth to a son when they have previously only given birth to girls.

Columbia University economists Douglas Almond and Lena Edlund also found clear evidence of sex-selective abortions in what they called “son-biased sex ratios,” that is, a higher ratio of boys to girls than would occur in nature. Looking at the sex ratio at birth among U.S.-born children of Chinese, Korean, and Asian-Indian parents, they found that first-borns showed normal sex ratios at birth. But if the first child was a girl, the sex ratio jumped to 117, and if the first two children were girls, then the sex ratio jumped to 151. That is to say, for every 151 boys, there were only 100 hundred surviving girls. The rest had been eliminated.

This is not just misogyny; it is misogyny that kills.

Racism kills as well, to judge from the fact that the abortion rate among blacks is about five times higher than the American average. Blacks are only 12 percent of the population but have 37 percent of the abortions. This suggests that their abortions, too, are more than just a matter of personal choice.

We have been told by the self-described “pro-choice” movement that women who go in for abortions do so because they (not their husbands, in-laws, or kinship group) have decided not to continue their pregnancies. If this turns out not to be true, and others bend you to their prejudices where gender and race are concerned, then the pro-choice argument evaporates.

What we are then left with is discrimination, pure and blatant, on the basis of sex and race. If the child is male or white, it will likely live. If the child is female or black, it may die.

The obvious solution, according to Arizona congressman Trent Franks (Ariz.) is to ban sex- and race-selective abortion. This week he introduced a bill, called the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act, or PreNDA for short, to do just that.

The bill declares that an abortion done for reasons of sex or race selection is a violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and prohibits doctors from carrying out such abortions. Those who coerce women into a sex- or race-based abortion can be sued by their victims, and organizations that solicit or accept funds to perform such abortions will be in violation of the law.

This reasonable effort to reign in discriminatory abortions has been mischaracterized by the National Organization of Women as an “attempt to restrict healthcare for women of color.”

What it is really about is allowing Indian, Chinese, Korean, and other women the freedom to have the babies of their choosing. Isn’t that what “reproductive choice” is supposed to be all about?

In March 2010, a immigrant from Morocco, Mbarek Lafrem (pictured), severely beat a nurse because she wouldn’t dance with him in a Manhattan bar. He followed her into the women’s restroom where he attempted to rape her and fractured her skull, eye socket, nose and jaw and cut her forehead, requiring 50 stitches.

Being a Muslim man, he blamed the woman for trying to defend herself — in the women’s restroom. His culture led him to regard any American woman behaving as a free individual was a prostitute and therefore not entitled to refuse him.

Many of the headlines avoided the thug’s cultural background. One of the worst was a two-fer insult to Keystone state construction workers from the New York Daily News: “Pennsylvania hardhat pleads guilty in beating of young nurse”.

Muslim immigration diversity is bad for all Americans, but it’s really bad news for women.

Man admits guilt in March 2010 nightclub sex attack, Associated Press, July 18, 2011

A construction worker admitted Monday that he beat a woman unconscious and tried to molest her in a bar bathroom, an attack she said occurred after she wouldn’t dance with him.

Mbarek Lafrem said nothing beyond brief answers to a judge’s questions as he pleaded guilty to assault and attempted sexual abuse. The March 2010 attack left the woman bloodied, half-undressed and wedged between a toilet and a bathroom stall divider in a sprawling midtown Manhattan lounge.

Manhattan State Supreme Court Justice Ronald Zweibel promised Lafrem a 16-year prison term at his sentencing, set for Sept. 1. Prosecutors had asked for 20 years.

“He felt it was the right thing to do at this juncture,” Lafrem’s lawyer, Yana A. Roy, said after court.

Born in Morocco, the 32-year-old Lafrem told police he came to the United States in 2004. He was living in Norwood, Pa., but staying at a Manhattan hotel for a metal work job when he crossed paths with the woman, a nurse who was then 29, at Social. The three-story bar is near Manhattan’s theater district and the southern edge of Central Park.

“The attack on this woman was quick and brutal,” Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. said in a statement Monday.

Lafrem twirled the woman briefly on the dance floor, but then she moved away and went to a women’s restroom on the second floor, authorities said.

Lafrem followed her, marched into a stall and hit her in the face when she screamed at him, prosecutors said.

She was found unconscious, with her pants inside-out and nearly pulled off, Assistant District Attorney Shanda Strain said. The woman had a broken jaw, broken eye socket and skull fractures, among other injuries, prosecutors said.

The Associated Press generally doesn’t identify people who report being sexually assaulted unless they agree to be named.

Lafrem fled after the attack, but co-workers called police after recognizing him in a surveillance video police released of a man walking down the street shortly after the attack, police said. Some of the woman’s blood was found in Lafrem’s hotel room, apparently because he’d had it on his clothing, prosecutors said.

Lafrem initially told police he went into the women’s bathroom by accident and threw her to the floor after she lashed out at him.

The press is apparently too politically correct to characterize the murder of a young woman by her Muslim stepfather as an “honor killing.” But when even the AP says Jessica Mokedad was shot “because she left home and wasn’t following Islam” what else would one call the crime?

It’s a familiar scenario. A young woman growing up in America wants the same individual freedom that all the other girls have; but her family demands traditional Islamic subservience of females. She moves away to live a normal American life but the furious stepfather finds her and shoots her dead. Rahim Alfetlawi told Jessica he wanted to meet to work things out, but he brought a gun, indicating another plan.

Officials and scribblers don’t like to use the phrase “honor killing” because it might upset always-sensitive Muslims. Women are treated like crap in a lot of cultures, the Sons of Allah say, which is certainly true!

But Islam truly belongs at the top of the misogynist list because sharia law allows parents to kill bad girls, as explained by scholar Robert Spencer in a piece about the case of Texas honor killings (FBI admits that the murder of Amina and Sarah Said may have been an honor killing): “However, ‘not subject to retaliation’ is ‘a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring’s offspring.’” (‘Umdat al-Salik o1.1-2). Not many disobedient boys get whacked, of course, because males are highly valued under Islam.

Local media didn’t want to call the murder of Jessica Mokedad an honor killing, even though the symptoms are clear.

20-year-old Woman Dead; Stepfather Charged with Murder, Fox Detroit, May 2, 2011

WARREN, Mich. (WJBK) – Jessica Mokedad’s friends and family told us that for the first time in her life, she was finally happy. She had friends and freedom, but her stepfather is accused of taking that all away.

“I was in Minnesota, and he called me, my husband, and said, ‘I am turning myself into the police. I smacked Jessica,’” said mother Wendy Alfetlawi.

However, Warren Police say Rahim Alfetlawi didn’t slap his stepdaughter, he shot her.

Police discovered 20-year-old Jessica Mokedad’s lifeless body inside her grandmother’s home.

“I just stopped what I was doing and sat down and started crying,” said Ali Alfetlawi.

Jessica’s friends say this tragic ending was years in the making. Mokedad grew up in Minnesota with her mother and her stepfather.

“He won’t let her out of his eyesight,” Ali Alfetlawi said.

“He was too overbearing, over controlling — things I thought that were just normal, strict parenting really. Now, when I look back, I say no, it was too much,” Wendy Alfetlawi said.

He forced her to wear a traditional head scarf instead of allowing her to make that decision on her own, and when she stopped wearing a scarf, friends say he became furious.

“She just wants to express herself the way she wants and not what he wants,” said friend Kayla Chuba.

That’s why her friends helped her escape.

“She packed up all her stuff. She told me she put it in a bush. She acted like she was taking out the garbage so he wouldn’t see all her stuff packed,” Chuba said.

Jessica left Minnesota and moved to Michigan, but despite the hundreds of miles between them, friends say he tracked her every move.

“Every time he would call her, it would just seem like he had just like some sick obsession. It wasn’t just like a stepfather-daughter relationship. It was something else,” one friend said.

“He came here a couple times, but never found her,” Chuba told FOX 2.

That is until last Friday.

“He said he wanted to make amends with Jess,” said Wendy Alfetlawi.

That’s not what happened. Alfetlawi told Warren Police he and Jessica got into an argument Saturday afternoon. She felt his gun at his waistband. They both reached for it, and it went off by accident. However, police are not buying that story and neither are others.

“It’s your stepdaughter,” said Ali Alfetlawi. “Why would you cross the line?”

“I’m glad we don’t have the death penalty here because that would be too easy. I want him to suffer everyday just like she suffered,” Wendy Alfetlawi said.

Alfetlawi has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond.

Upbeat India boosters like to portray their country as a modern, “forward looking” society that is an up-and-comer on the world stage. In fact, some believe this will be India’s century.

But retro social realities are hard to ignore. Bangalore is celebrated as a tech center, thanks to American outsourcing and education, yet indoor plumbing is not universal. Sacred cows roam the streets, and untouchables (aka Dalits) still face discrimination despite official efforts to eradicate the worst of the caste system.

Women get the worst of it. When drought occurs in the superstitious countryside, some unlucky woman might be made to pull a plow through the fields to please whatever gods are miffed. The government has built orphanages to hold the millions of unwanted girls who would be exterminated otherwise in the patriarchal culture.

Interestingly, some inquiring minds recently researched how many Indian women were killed for being witches, now in the 21st century.

Witch hunts kill 200 women in India, The Times (Johannesburg), July 26, 2010

As many as 200 women are lynched every year in India after being accused of practising witchcraft, according to a study.

The deaths are most prevalent in poverty-stricken villages populated by tribal groups in the northern Indian state of Jharkhand, with cases also reported in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and Orissa.

Avdhash Kaushal, chairman of the Rural Litigation and Entitlement Kendra (RLEK), told AFP that most victims were single or widowed and were often targeted for their land or money.

They are often forced to drink urine or eat excreta in public and are then paraded naked through the village. An estimated 200 are killed each year, with many more committing suicide afterwards out of shame.

“During our legal literacy programme in tribal villages, we came across these incidents of women being called witches and then being killed,” he said of his charity, which helps tribal groups with litigation and welfare.

The figure of 200 is an estimate based on research done by RLEK in Jharkhand and figures from police and state authorities in other states.

In the last 15 years, more than 2,500 women have been killed for being witches, Kaushal estimated.

The United States is home to at least 1.8 million India-born persons. Lucky us to have so many of the model minority.

Within America’s imported multicultural soup, the Hmong tribe is surely near the top of the scale of extreme behaviors, including shamanistic medicine, horse-eating, animal sacrifice, marriage by capture, polygamy, disinterest in obeying the law, a highly misogynist value system, and a dislike of education particularly for women.

In Milwaukee, a Hmong man, Thaying Lor (pictured), was recently sentenced for a crime that would be considered normal activity back in the homeland of Southeast Asia: child marriage by way of kidnapping. (Thx Refugee Resettlement Watch.)

Man gets 8 years for raping wife, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, June 29, 2010

A Milwaukee man convicted of sexually assaulting his wife, who was 12 when he abducted her into a Hmong cultural marriage in 1991, was sentenced Monday to at least eight years in prison.

The case of Thaying Lor, 43, drew nationwide attention among Hmong-Americans, who feared it could lead to unfair judgment of their culture and an upsurge in Hmong wives making similar claims years after their weddings.

Circuit Judge Kevin Martens, who presided at Lor’s weeklong trial in December, called it one of the most difficult he’d seen, “given the number of issues I’m asked to consider on both sides.”

Prosecutors and advocates for victims of domestic violence sought much tougher punishment, while Lor’s counsel and Hmong-American groups and individuals who sent dozens of letters recommended probation.

The case began when a bailiff overheard the victim testify in her divorce early last year about how she was kidnapped, raped and essentially sold into marriage at age 12. The victim never wanted to involve police out of respect for the Hmong culture, but the bailiff alerted law enforcement and Lor was charged 10 days later.

The woman, now 32, has a different last name than Lor and is not being identified because she is the victim of a sexual assault. She remains in the Milwaukee area, where she is raising the couple’s six children.

In a letter to Martens, she said she did not feel safe appearing in person because she and her family have been subjected to ridicule, ostracism and threats, including on Hmong radio stations.

“They have threatened to hunt me down like a squirrel in the woods,” she wrote.

She asked that he sentence Lor to prison as a message to other abused Hmong women who lack the courage to come forward.

Martens spoke for 90 minutes Monday before announcing the sentence. He stressed repeatedly that case should not be seen as only “the Hmong marriage” case, but considered for Lor’s specific behavior.

“It would be wrong for anyone to take this as an indictment of the Hmong community as a whole,” he said. […]

How can anyone not “take this as an indictment of the Hmong community as a whole,” since the woman said she was threatened by her tribe for not cowering in submission like a proper Hmong female? The case is an all-too-accurate window into one of the more rudimentary peoples Washington has dispersed willy-nilly into America through its harmful refugee policy. In fact, the New York Times has called the Hmong “the most primitive refugee group in America.”

An earlier report from the Lor trial contained some interesting detail about how the kidnap happened:

Man found guilty in spousal rape case, Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, December 8, 2009

Last week, she testified that Lor had visited her family once or twice before offering to take her to the mall in May 1991, when she was in sixth grade. Instead, he took her to a relative’s home where another man was waving something overhead in a circle, a gesture she knew from Laos meant she was being taken from her family into a Hmong marriage. Inside the home, she testified, Lor raped her for three days as she cried and begged to go home. They were married in a Hmong cultural ceremony a few days later.

Below is a brief video (not connected with the previous case) of a Hmong immigrant family whose daughter was grabbed like an animal and taken away for marriage, like they weren’t in America at all.

Ain’t diversity swell?
