295,160,302 in U.S. at start of 2005
America's immigration-fueled population explosion continues to accelerate, as we see from the relentless numbers. At this rate, the national odometer will click over to 300 million residents in less than two years. That is a doubling since 1950's 150 million, when the U.S. was far less crowded, there was lots of open space and the driving was easy.

Muslim second wives may get a tax break
Britain is mulling an Islam-friendly tax exemption for multi-wifing families even though it is illegal to be married to more than one wife. British citizens may therefore be subsidizing an illegal activity via politically correct interpretation of the tax code.
The article notes, "It is seen as a breakthrough by Muslim leaders who have been campaigning to incorporate sharia into British domestic law."
Interestingly, the United Nations already recognizes polygamy as a valid arrangement and a legitimate form of marriage in which employees may divide their benefits among more than one wife.

Unworthy of Honor: Khomeini's tribute is a disgrace Detroit rally in support of Khomeini
The mainstream media is normally brain-dead concerning public gatherings in America supporting Islamic terrorism, so this critical editorial from the Dallas Morning News is welcome. What should Americans think of a "tribute" to a terrorist and pedophile openly taking place in Dallas, Texas? The meeting was far worse than a "disgrace" — by praising an Islamic revolutionary, the gathering essentially advocated the overthrow of the American Constitution to be replaced with Sharia law.
The photo shown is of an anti-American rally held in Detroit on Nov. 12. At that time, Islam expert Robert Spencer reminded readers of Khomeini's exhortations for worldwide war against the infidel. Khomeini's Islam was not the imaginary Religion of Peace promoted by the PC press: "Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war. Those [who say this] are witless. Islam says: Kill all the unbelievers."
Why do we foolishly continue to allow Muslim immigration? Militant Islam is far more a totalitarian political ideology than a religion. Political correctness is putting the safety of all Americans at risk.

Italians Rise Up against Turkey's EU Entry Italians Protest Turkey in EU
Thousands took to the streets in Milan Dec. 19 to protest Turkey's accession to the EU, calling it a "Muslim invasion." In a statement, leader of the Northern League Umberto Bossi said, "Without our history we are dead, our history is not up for sale." Organizers estimated that 50,000 took part in the demonstrations.
More photos of the march are here and here.
Justice Minister Roberto Castelli spoke to the crowd gathered around Milan's gothic cathedral and asked, "What will happen when 80 million Islamists with a high birth rate have the right to settle on our land?"

Islam shaping a new Europe
France is struggling to contain the alien culture which has taken root within its borders, with little success. This article is part of a Chicago Tribune series Struggle for the Soul of Islam," a title which is unduly positive. (To be fair, some of the articles are excellent and important, particularly "Rare look at the secret Brotherhood" about the fundie Muslim Brotherhood group.)
Reports of increasing ethnic violence from Europe reinforce the recognition that Islam is antithetical to western civilization and that Muslim immigration is poison to society. Many Muslims regard America as a future Islamic state. Yet the United States continues to welcome Muslim immigrants as if 911 had never happened. Why?
Of course, LTG recognizes that not every single Muslim living in America wants to replace the Constitution with Sharia law. But by the same token, not all Germans were Nazis in WWII either, but that didn't stop the U.S. from bombing German cities into rubble. Preserving our own way of life requires unPC generalizations about certain groups.

Turkey in the EU? Denmark's Little Mermaid w Burqa
Apparently some waggish Danes dressed Copenhagen's famous Little Mermaid statue in a burqa to protest the future entrance of Turkey into the European Union. The Chicago Tribune observed that accession talks were "proof of Europe's multiculturalism, a bold statement in the post-Sept. 11, 2001, world that Europe sees no incompatibility between Islam and a modern democracy."
That's arrogant talk from know-it-all elites. The same article notes, "public opinion within the EU is solidly opposed to admitting Turkey."
In response to this issue, the Telegraph (UK) remarks that "In the Netherlands... disillusionment with multiculturalism has reached crisis levels."

Turkey Is Knocking, but EU Is Hesitating
Since when do you toss a rotten apple into the barrel to improve the diversity of the pippins and macintoshes? Europe is planning its own cultural demise by aquiescing to the demands of Turkey to be admitted to the EU, which will allow the free flow of Turkish Muslims throughout Europe. Officials are aware of the dangers, but are willing to plunge ahead anyway, despite all the recent Muslim violence and the chasm of culture.
In Turkey, the practice of "honor killing" continues, and dozens of girls and women are murdered annually for affronts to impossibly rigid gender behavior codes.
As is increasingly the case in modern "democracies," multiculturalism-brainwashed elites in government are ignoring the polls which show their citizens reject the scheme. Seventy percent of Germans believe that Islamic culture does not fit in the west, and 55 percent are against Turkey's EU entry, as are 67 percent of the French.
The BBC believes Turkey's EU inclusion will "disprove the theory of a clash of civilisations between Islam and the West" — as if a political union could end the tribal nature of human psychology or obliterate a thousand years of enmity.

Gas boycott over immigrant licenses
Bright lights in the Mexican revanchist movement figure that a Monday boycott of gasoline will be effective. But they are unclear on many other concepts as well, such as the idea that mere demands do not create entitlements.
If these Mexicans ever read the California Driver Handbook, they might have noticed that "Driving is a privilege, not a right."
In order to shut down the possibility of California licenses for illegal aliens permanently, it is necessary to pass a state constitutional amendment against the notion. If you haven't signed a petition to get this initiative on the ballot, please do so immediately. Download petitions at SaveOurLicense.com.

A Shortage of Cheap Water
Here's an interview with a top water wonk on California's water supply given the population explosion, changing policies and likely climate change.

Hillary goes conservative on immigration
This just in — immigration enforcement and border control are not racist! Hillary Clinton supports them so it must be okay.

One in 10 Families Pays Bribes
There's a new Corruption Index out, and it's not a pretty picture, with bribery being a fact of life in many poor countries.
There aren't many surprises either. Finland is still #1 squeaky clean place to do business, and Bangladesh and Nigeria are again the rock bottom remainders in the bribery scale. Here's the actual Corruption Perceptions Index 2004, but be forewarned that it is a hugh file and takes a long time to download.

The 2004 National Population Cartoon Contest
Varying quality and topics. Sponsored by the Population Media Center, the excellent winners are here.

Grayson's thoughts on Mexico George Grayson
The quotable Prof. George Grayson, of William and Mary College, was interviewed on his subject of expertise: "Mexico is not a Bangladesh. It is an extremely wealthy country, and it is a real shame on Mexico's small political elite that millions of their fellow citizens come to the United States to try and find work."

Muslims take a hard look at Islam
If only! A few Muslims have noticed that virtually all terrorists are followers of the Prophet, and that Muslim immigrants are less favorably regarded in places like the Netherlands because of the violence which has followed their influx. Furthermore, the Koran and other Islamic texts have numerous exhortations to smite the infidels and such, a fact which researcher Robert Spencer (JihadWatch.org) has emphasized. His analysis of this article is here..

Dutch desert their changing country
Last year more people left the Netherlands than arrived as immigrants, and that was before the current unrest over the van Gogh assassination. Requests for visa information have "exploded" since a Muslim murdered the well known filmmaker on the streets of Amsterdam. In addition, people have expressed their disengagement with the experiment of multiculturalism, now regarded as a failure by many.
A companion article about Dutch leaving their homeland noted, "The new wave of educated migrants are quietly voting with their feet against a multicultural experiment long touted as a model for the world."

12/08 Sensenbrenner Press Conference - Video
Chair of the House Judiciary Committee Jim Sensenbrenner discusses what was wrongly left out of the intelligence bill just passed: proper drivers licenses should be issued only to persons of known identity who are here legally; asylum loopholes which welcome terrorists must be closed; and the Otay Mesa fence in southern California must be finished. (This RealVideo file is available on C-SPAN for 15 days following its initial showing.)

74 American Kids Found in Mexico Schools
After which they were promptly deported to the United States because their papers were not in order.
Compare that with the bankrupting policy of the U.S., which requires that "status" does not prevent education. As a result, states like California are being financially overwhelmed by the presence of so many children of illegal aliens to be schooled. The recent FAIR report estimated that California spends $7.7 billion annually to educate the children of illegal aliens. Interestingly, the 2005 California deficit will be $6.7 billion, according to budget analysts.

Amnesty vs. Border Control
Here are Tom Tancredo's 12 questions that the Bush administration needs to answer about its amnesty scheme for Mexicans. A "guest worker" plan for illegal aliens is very messy when it comes to details and would require an enormous bureaucracy to administer.

Illegal Aliens Cost California Billions
Strange how little reporting there has been on FAIR's analysis noted here a few days ago of the costs of illegal aliens to California (around $9 billion annually). At any rate, this article from the Washington Times does the job.

Fox Has Been Outfoxed, and That Puts Mexican Democracy in Peril
There are still a couple years to go in the Fox Presidency, and he is already chalked up as a failure. He promised reform, but instead has curled up with the same ensconced PRI party political hacks who ran the country for 71 years, longer than Russia's communist party was in power.

Stoned to death... why Europe is starting to lose its faith in Islam
The savage killing by stoning of a young Tunisian-born French woman by several Muslim males is another reason why Europe is turning against multiculturalism. Two thousand people marched in Marseille 11/27 to remember Ghofrane Haddaoui and other victims like her. Public figures across the continent are saying that Islamism is not compatible with European values of tolerance and women's rights.

Sexual Amputation and Silence
FrontPage editor Jamie Glasov is one of the strongest voices against female genital mutilation. More than simply objecting to the brutal cruelty to little girls, he also emphasizes how the oppression of women keeps the Muslim fundies stoked: "Female genital mutilation produces the oxygen that Islamic fundamentalism needs to breathe. It helps militant Islam keep intact the foundation on which its life depends: the subjugation and enslavement of women under a rigid system of gender apartheid."

Interview: Geert Wilders — the new Fortuyn? Geert Wilders
Dutch parliament member Wilders remains in hiding because of numerous threats against his life and is still speaking out against the danger of anti-western Islamic immigration. If anything, his tribulations have strenthened his voice against fascist Islam:
"We were tolerant to the intolerants and we only got intolerance back. Weakness is bad because it doesn't protect Dutch families, because it doesn't protect our norms and values, our society and our constitution and because it doesn't help the majority of moderate Muslims in the Netherlands."
